RE: Nintendo Switch | Lite Model Announced - Karo - Aug 2nd, 2019

I definitely won't be buying a switch lite it just really has no appeal over to the original model, but I do like the color options for it.

RE: Nintendo Switch | Lite Model Announced - Moonface - Aug 3rd, 2019

Something I do hope that is fixed for the Lite is the joy-con drifting issue. At least for the regular Switch you can send just the joy-con to Nintendo to get it fixed (and have it break again soon after because Nintendo are incompetent at dealing with this problem properly) but for the Lite you would have to send the entire system in. Errm

RE: Nintendo Switch | Lite Model Announced - Karo - Aug 4th, 2019

I can't wait to send my Nintendo Switch Lite in for repair in one year due to faulty control sticks! Grin

RE: Nintendo Switch | Lite Model Announced - queenzelda - Aug 7th, 2019

From what a lot of people are saying it with the new August Switch release with the better battery life, that the joy-cons are a lot better then the original ones. They're a bit more weighty & are made of sturdier stuffs. So my thought is that perhaps Nintendo would do the same with the Switch lite.

RE: Nintendo Switch | Lite Model Announced - Dragon Lord - Aug 21st, 2019

So something happened with my Switch tonight that made me appreciate it a hell of a lot more than I did before.

Now, this is something that, in hindsight, was obvious, but it just wasn't something I would have thought about unless it actually happened. I was sitting here playing Three Houses in docked mode, and the power suddenly goes out. I'm sure you can guess where I'm going with this. I great appreciated the fact that instead of my NS shutting off and me losing any progress since my last save like I would with any other gaming system, the Switch just automatically kicks back into handheld mode and the game continues to run without a hitch.

The Switch is literally power outage proof and that's a great feeling. Again, in hindsight, it's an obvious outcome, but just not something you'd normally think about until the power actually goes out and you see it happen. I suppose I just expected the system to shut down since I didn't remove the Switch from the dock, and the only time you see it switch back into handheld mode is when you remove it from there.

RE: Nintendo Switch | Lite Model Announced - Mr EliteL - Aug 21st, 2019

That is neat. I had an instance where I put my Switch in dock mode, TV was one, power on and all that, yet it went into Handheld Mode until I too it out and put it back in. I guess I nudged it out or something, but that probably hinted at me the Switch will go into Handheld if need be when sitting in the dock. Thought nothing of it at the time. I wasn't 100% sure what could happen, but with your confirmation of that, I don't need to worry if I'm playing on my Switch and we have a power outage at some point too.

RE: Nintendo Switch | Lite Model Announced - queenzelda - Aug 21st, 2019

Yea, we had a power outtage afew weeks ago & I ended up playing on my Switch undocked; though I wasn't playing on it when it happened. So yea, it's nice to know that I can play my Switch even if the power goes out.

Did anyone get a Switch Lite yet on UG? I'm considering getting one for Pokemom Sword & Shield.

Yep. I got the yellow variant;

RE: Nintendo Switch | Lite Model Announced - Moonface - Nov 11th, 2019

I won't be getting a Lite just because I have no need for it. I did pick one up briefly at Gamestop to get a feel for it and it felt pretty nice in my hands.

RE: Nintendo Switch | Lite Model Announced - queenzelda - Nov 11th, 2019

I got one to be able to trade Pokemon with myself since there has been 0 information on when Pokemon HOME is coming.

RE: Nintendo Switch | Lite Model Announced - King Atem - Nov 12th, 2019

@queenzelda how is the lite anyway??

So far I really like it. I need a bit more time with it since I've just been playing DQXIS on my main Switch as of late. I should have more of an idea of what it's like after tomorrow. ;3

RE: Nintendo Switch | Lite Model Announced - Moonface - Jan 6th, 2020

So there's a rumour flying about that Nintendo are going to release yet another Switch revision some time this year. There aren't many claims for what differences it'll have yet; the only two I've seen so far are a magnesium alloy body instead of plastic, and a better CPU. Anyone think there's any weight to this at all?

I don't see it happening and don't want to see it either. In a year where PS5 and Series X are both coming full force, I don't think a Switch revision is really going to be a viable option for Nintendo to go for. They'd do better announcing a Switch Home (or whatever you want to call it) that's beefier but is purely a home console, since that's something people are actively interested in.

RE: Nintendo Switch - Dragon Lord - Jan 7th, 2020

I wouldn't be surprised if they released another edition of the Switch with a bunch of enhancements. Kind of like the PS4 Pro vs the PS4 or the Xbox One X vs the Xbox One. Since the Switch took the place of both a home console and the 3DS, it's very likely we see a few different versions of the Switch like we did with the DS and 3DS.

We could use the 3DS family itself to compare. The 3DS equals the Switch. The 2DS equals the Switch Lite (both lacking the main gimmick of the original system). This rumor, if true, could end up being to the Switch what the N3DS was to that family.
