I know this is a broad topic and there's definitely a large pool of reasons for which games get cancelled... and still, one always feels like it would have been so much fun to try this one or that one out. What was that game for you?

For me, it has to be an announced GBA Static Shock game (that apparently got previewed at E3 and everything) and was never heard of again. GBA Superhero tie-ins aren't my favorites by any stretch of the imagination (they can be done and be done quite well, but those are few and far-between) but I do think they could have made something worthwhile with a source material such as Static Shock, with its large cast of characters, powers and environments... I would have really liked a beat em up or tournament fighter featuring those characters.

I'd have taken the original, IdTech1-powered Daiktana over the final release as well.

What about you?
The PS2/Xbox game, Malice, by Mud Duck Games. The Malice that came out in 2004, was a completely different game than what originally was supposed to come out. This was due to one studio, getting bought by another, or something of the sort. It was originally canned, and then brought back to life, completely differently.
Malice is a mediocre game at best, but there's still something I really enjoyed about it, and there was so much they could add, and improve on. But the original version (The canceled version), sounded much more interesting, like the original premise is completely different from what they came out with. So it would have been cool to see what the canceled version of Malice would have been like. Also, Gwen Stefani, was supposed to voice the titular character, Malice.. but then it got canceled..

So that's one canceled game I would have liked to see, if that counts.
Scalebound was a game I would've been curious to try out, as the concept was neat.

Silent Hills was another game that I may have wanted to try out if it was going to be a return to form. Not much was shown of it to tell where it was going though.

This last one is harder to decide for as it was cancelled very early, but Rayman 4 was in development and seemed to be building off Rayman 3's mechanics. The concept art for it also looks really cool, especially with some of the level themes being based on those from Rayman 1.
Star Wars Battlefront 3, it bloody had space and ground combat in game!
Star Wars 1313: Playing as Boba Fett?! Sign me up.
Knights of the Old Republic 3: Because KotOR 1 and 2 were great and I detest MMOs.
Star Wars: Dark Squadron - Rouge Squadron but as the Imperials
Dinosaur Planet, before it got turned into StairFax Temperatures (THANKS, NINTENDO!).
Overstrike, before it got turned into Fuse (THANKS, EA!).
Project Dream, before it got turned into Banjo-Kazooie (though I ain't mad, considering Banjo Kazooie is awesome).
Legend of Dragoon 2 (as much as I'm against a proper sequel to the game, I would like to see where it went).
I can;t I believe I forgot Star Wars: Imperial Commando....
Excellent examples, everybody!

I had forgotten about most of those, actually... but among all of those that were named, one stands above the rest as the one that pisses me off the most:

What the hell, Nintendo?! That's not cool. I remember reading about that one years ago and realizing how badly robbed we were.

I guess all that's left to do is waiting until the day the rom gets leaked online (if ever). I'd take an unfinished game with promise over a bad one any day!
You think that's bad, you should see what they did to Argonaut Games. Poor Argonaut; first they got their Starfox 2 game canned because they DARED to show up Miyamoto, then they steal their idea for Super Mario 64, THEN they add insult to injury by trying to say the royalties they'd pay would make up for absolutely screwing them.

Nintendo is full of assholes.
Canceled games I was interested in:
Legend of Dragoon 2: Loved the first game, I would have been interested in a pt2.
Scalebound: Being able to ride & control a dragon who WOULDN'T want to play a game like that?
Fable Legends: I like the Fable series & from what was shown of Legends it looked like something I'd be interested in playing.

How about games that never make state side? Like the PSP Suikoden title (Genso Suikoden: The Woven Web of a Century)? I would LOVE to play it. But will KONAMI release the title outside of Japan? Doubtful. Meh

*Sighs*. I guess you can't be insultingly rich without being insulting first.

At least we got SF 2... eventually.

There was a game like that?! And someone cancelled it?! Who do I need to punch? xD

Seriously, I'd have wanted to play that.

Neat concept, actually.

My all-time favorite game (Deus Ex) never got a proper Spanish translation, so I'd have been screwed if I didn't know the language at the time of playing it.

(Fan-made patches have since emerged -albeit text only-).
Oh, forgot to mention they bankrupted DMA Design. We now know them as Rockstar North, the makers of GTA. Yes, really!

Yeah, Scalebound is one of those games that got loads of press before finally being killed off unceremoniously. It was looking good, right up until they murdered it.

Another game i would have liked to see is Starcraft: Ghost. That game was killed because the dev team were too busy trying to chase "the perfect game" and started copying every new thing that came out. Sounding familiar? It should; THATS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO DUKE NUKEM FOREVER!

Also, Dead Phoenix, which was the only game of the Capcom 5 to get cancelled. Looked interesting from the ONE promotional still ive seen.

At lease Starcraft: Ghost will be able to rest in peace unlike Duke.
@Tsu: Microsoft, since they're the ones who canned it. :<

Another canceled game I'd love to play was the tech demo (2011) of the Legend of Zelda title that Nintendo had planned BEFORE BotW was revealed.

I completely forgot about that game. It looked so good when it was Overstrike and was a shell of itself when it was re-revealed with the new name.

I always assumed that was only a tech demo and was never meant to be representing the actual next entry in LoZ.

I personally would have loved to see what game could have come from what was shown besides the horribleness of what was given. If I want to play Skyrim with a Link skin I'll buy the Wii+ version Switch version instead, thanks. Whistle

Any way, I would have also loved to have played the Chrono Trigger: Resurrection game as well before SquareEnix hit the devfan team working on it with a cease-and-desist letter to Resurrection Games for trademark and copyright infringement. sauce
