I hear so many good things about the Atelier Dusk trilogy and I've been kinda wanting to take a dive into it, but I'm just not sure if I have the time to really enjoy them or not. I also do want to try the Atlus FIre Emblem SMT cross over game at some point, but of course these are games that have already been released to stay on topic for me there really is only one big game that I'm looking forward to this year and it comes out next week. XD

Animal Crossing: New Horizon
Well, it's been a year so I'm sure some of us have at least one game we're looking forward to seeing more of or even getting our hands on. Here's some games I really want to get my hands on when they release:

Resident Evil Village
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
NieR Replicant
Kena: Bridge of Spirits

I also want to see more of Deathloop, Ghostwire: Tokyo, the God of War sequel, Stray, and Horizon Forbidden West. I will likely get the last three games anyway but since there's no dates on them I'm keeping them in my "see" category for now. Deathloop and Ghostwire both need to win me over a bit more before I consider getting them. I just can't tell how much I'll actually enjoy them.
I'll second Moony's games, and add on:

Pokemon Legends: Arceus
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild Sequel
Hollow Knight: Silksong
Tunic
Final Fantasy XVI
Let's see, for 2021 we have...

[Games in red have already released]

Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- The Prophecy of the Throne (PlayStation 4)
Ys IX: Monstrum Nox (PS4)
Nioh Remastered - The Complete Edition (PS5)
Nioh 2 Remastered - The Complete Edition (PS5)

Persona 5 Strikers (PS4)
Bravely Default II (Switch)
Neptunia Virtual Stars (PS4)

Legend of Mana Remaster (PS4)
Scarlet Nexus (PS5)
Tales of Arise (PS5)

Void Terrarium++ (PS5)
Back For Blood (PS5)
Mary Skelter Finale (PS4)

Maybes:

Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny (Pending on a PC release. Not buying the Switch version since NISA wants to fuck over PS4 players, so I'll wait until I can get it for like $5 on Steam).
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD
Hollow Knight: Silksong (depends on if/when a PS4/PS5 port happens)
Final Fantasy XVI (early look seems good, looks like they are ditching the more futuristic settings to go back to the high fantasy roots, and the last time they did that, we got Final Fantasy IX, which is easily a top 3 FF game, so hopefully history repeats itself and FF16 ends up delivering the first good FF game since X, not counting 14).
Monster Hunter Stories 2 (NS)
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl (NS)

Probably missing a bunch, but this is what I could remember off the top of my head/find to remind myself.
Just Triangle Strategy is all I'm maybe looking forward to, also Horizon Forbidden West but I need to play the first game to really are about it. Oh and again maaaybe Legend of Mana Remaster. Nothing else unless E3 brings something to light for me...?
For me my most anticipated game for this year that may or may not come to fruition is Shin Megami Tensei V altus still has the release date as 2021 but it's possible it might get pushed back.
@Dragon Lord: Your copy of NieR still didn't turn up? Blink
It did. Are you mixing up NieR: Reincarnation (the upcoming mobile game) with NieR Replicant (the PS4 remaster)?

No, I just got confused because you had the game in red as a game you were anticipating despite being released so I took that to mean you were still anticipating getting it. Doh
Oh, no. I just included every game that released in 2021 that I was anticipating, and put the ones that have already released in red, is all. Just to provide a (mostly) complete list of every game I was/am interested in for the entire year.
So it's a new year and that means a whole year of games to anticipate being released, updated, showcased, or whatever else might apply! So what are yours for 2022?

I think that's everything at least for new games. Just trying to think of what games are already out that I'm excited to see updates for. Hmm

RWBY: Arrowfell (PS5)
Salt and Sacrifice (PS5)
Sea of Stars (PC/PS5) [I backed this on Kickstarter, so...]
Star Ocean: The Divine Force (PS5)

...And I think that is it for games that are supposed to be releasing in 2022.

My most hyped games are...

-Granblue Fantasy Re:Link
-The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero
-Star Ocean: The Divine Force
-Triangle Strategy

Triangle Strategy looks like a grand return to the great SRPGs of yore like Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre, so I'm super hyped for that.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero has been a long time in the making. It's one of the two games that take place in between Trails in the Sky and the Trails of Cold Steel chapters of the series, and until now, there hasn't been a western release of those two games. So western players have been missing out on a LOT of story stuff because we lacked the knowledge from those two games. Thankfully I never started playing Trails of Cold Steel 3 (where you really end up hurting from missing story knowledge), so I can just wait it out to play Zero and then Azure when it releases in 2023, then go back and finish up the Cold Steel games.

Star Ocean: The Divine Force because Star Ocean is one of my all-time favorite series and I thought that we'd never see another SO game after the disaster that was Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness (aka SO5). So I was extremely ecstatic back when Square Enix first announced that there would be a sixth Star Ocean game after all. Cannot wait to play it later this year. Hoping Tri-Ace can redeem themselves and the series with this one.

Lastly and most importantly, Granblue Fantasy ReLink looks like it could be one of the absolute best RPGs ever released if they did it right. The artstyle they are using is gorgeous, the combat looks fluid and action packed. What little they've been showing of the game looks absolutely amazing and I cannot wait to get my hands on this one most of all this year.
Right now it's a very small list of games I'm watching but none are definite purchases.

Elden Ring
Eiyuden Chronicle Rising
Granblue Fantasy ReLink
Horizon Forbidden West
Triangle Strategy

Elden Ring was if I was on top of making sure I got the whatever edition it was with the statue, and haven't gone back yet to check if that's available which I highly doubt. Not buying from scalpers. Completely forgot about ReLink, back when I saw the trailer and was amazed by it. Horizon is lowest priority for a reason I've mentioned many times before; have yet to play the first game. XD
Now that I have a PS5 to look forward to games on there and some stuff has been announced since this thread was last used, here's an updated list of games I'm looking forward to releasing or seeing more of:

Anticipated Game Releases
  • Tunic
  • Kirby and the Forgotten Land

Need to slightly alter my list. Elden Ring I have bought.
