Trying to fit games into genres nowadays tends to be quite tough when a lot of games have elements that cover multiple genres (such as action-adventure games adopting RPG elements within them or shooters falling into action/horror/etc.) but generally sub-genres tend to be a little bit more distinct, such as the following:
So yeah, I was curious what everyone's preferred or favourite sub-genres are since while it's kinda easy to say I like platformers, there might be a type of platformer I like more than others or find I own more games of without maybe realizing I do.
I know for racing games I vastly prefer arcade and kart racers over anything aimed at simulation because I usually find racing simulators lose my interest really quickly. I'm sure they're great for people who want to live out a fantasy of being a Formula 1 driver or something but they're not for me.
