Decided to repost this thread after reading about how a modder for Aliens: Colonial Marines found that the AI is as broken as it is because of a spelling mistake in the code: https://www.polygon.com/2018/7/15/175742...xenomorphs

It's not the first time that's happened, as Civilization 6 (might be wrong but it was definitely a Civ game) also had an AI problem that was due to a typo. However I think the actual developers found that or at least fixed it on their end after being made aware of it.

I still think Breath of the Wild has the best AI in any game I've played, as well as God of War 2018 because Atreus is an amazing AI companion which tends to be a rarity.
At least having a typo in there is somewhat excusable... unlike Daikatana, where chaotic company management had led to five different lead programmers battling over the code and leaving it in such entangled mess, that they had to call the guy responsible for keeping the website -and basically tell him: here, have at it... we are screwed anyway- in order for him to solve it (I don't get it either).

I said this somewhere else on this forum, but I will say it again since it is dealt with AI

Good AI is like a good/working IT system, or stage crew. When it works no one notices it/thinks about it.
When it is bad, everyone is down your neck, and makes things a lot worse.

While I understand it is human error, the development for A:CM was horrific the whole way through and shows how little resources were put into making sure the game worked as intended. The AI of that game would not have slipped through the cracks before release, and considering it took five years to find the problem shows there was no intention of trying to fix it either.

Also while less common nowadays, I have never liked AI that detect the player, and then pretend they no longer exist the second you get out of their sight. The Evil Within 2 does this worse than any other game I've played recently, as you can have an enemy chase you and despite standing in plain sight of them, there is a point they stop following you and then go back to where they were before. Rarely enemies don't do that, and when they don't the chases are superbly tense if you're not equipped to deal with them, but a lot of the time you'll just see enemies stopping at an invisible line and acting as if you're no longer in front of them.

It wasn't honorific it was corrupt. The studio used money that was suppose to be for A:CM for Borderlands.

The Police AI in GTA V annoy me:
*drives wrecklessly* I SEE NOTHING
*lightly tap cop car* *gets shot*

They made the cop AI in V way too aggressive IMO, and turns me trying to screw around (like driving a take on the express way wtih out trying to hurt any one) in to an annoyance.

Looks like the cops from Vice City have finally been dethroned.

No, the worse AI could be from the dumpster fire that was Big Rigs: Off the Road Racing (The "YOU'RE WINNER three handled Trophy is also part of its legacy)
The other trucks would just stay behind the start line and would never start the race, after it was """""PATCHED""""" the AI would stop right before the finish line.

But since Big Rigs is such a dumpster fire I invite everyone to watch these videos:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sR3a0gixfwI
and
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwEL1fDXb5U (This isn't the XPlay clip I remeber, there was one where they took an "intern" and forced him to play it or maybe my memory is bad but I remember XPlay making a big deal over this game)

Big Rigs ain't even worth discussing at this stage. Game was barely made at all... of course it was gonna suck.

That said, the trophy part reminds of an immortal quote by Don Ramón on El Chavo del Ocho:

Quote:I know you are brute, but why so hellbent on setting records?

But OH MY GOD, actual reviews for it. What's next? Superman 64?
Fun Fact the guy behind Big Rigs, also worked on
The War Z / Infestation: Survivor Stories
LoL

Even if LoL is a working game, it seems this guy just drags a dumpster fire with him.

I honestly forgot LoL was a thing that existed.

Wasn't it all the rage a few years back? Maaaaan.

EDIT: Wait, what? When in the world did I make 300 posts here?
