(Yeah, that totally didn't sound like a shady newspaper ad. Good job, Tsu).

I have been having a lot of fun restoring a high-end tablet that failed to withstand the ultimate trial: being handled by a couple of YT-addicted preschoolers.

As you can guess, damage was extensive, but I was eventually able to -quite literally- punch the HDMI capabilities back to working order and, while the touchscreen shenanigans proved a bridge too far for my levels of expertise and patience, I jerry-rigged my way into hooking an USB keyboard and mouse to it. Not gonna lie... it's pretty neat and, while I would have very much liked to use the touchscreen, I can't exactly complain, as hooking the bastard to a 30 inch TV for maximum resolution is a fair tradeoff.

Hell, I was even able to side-load some roms to it for maximum gaming goodness. That, along with the ability to use Discord (which I was rather annoyed wasn't an option on PS3) makes the whole thing that much appealing to me. The finishing touch was loading some videos by the side to see how it would handle them; resolution wasn't the best, but worked rather marvelously. I'm pretty happy with the whole deal!

There's one slight issue, however... battery drains too fast.

Now, I would normally leave it plugged in to the wall and that would be it, but I kind of have the only Mini-USB port currently occupied with an USB hub carrying the keyboard and mouse. So, my question for you is as follows: Is there any way at all to charge the thing thru another means? Even if it is some weird adapter to convert the plug, I'm willing to try it. It would be a sin to leave such a small obstacle be the killer.

Thanks in advance!

PS: Can't wait to do some more posting on it. It's so neat xD
What tablet?
Does it have blue tooth? The simplest solution might be to get a Blue Tooth mouse and keyboard for the tablet and keep it connected to power.

First of all: Thanks for replying.

I'm gonna owe you the exact model until I get back to working on it (not in the same room with me at the moment). And, while it does have Bluetooth, I was hoping I wouldn't have to buy anything extra for it.

But I guess I will if that's the only option.

Depending how far you want to go, if you have the tools and a guide you could always replace the battery or find some one to bypass the battery but that could be risky (shock/fire/etc).

I know you don't have amazon in your country but something like this could also be an option (if it actually works)

Yeah... wouldn't do the first thing. I'm the son of a man who managed to burn his monitor with only an AOL free internet disk and phone wiring (really).

Hey! That second thing looks like it could be just the thing! Gonna look into it. Thanks!

....wha....how.....wh......Damn there goes my "Champ of IT "What the fuck?!" story telling" belt.

Back in the day (XP era) my mom had a Old Dell laptop that had a square plug shape, she some how managed to place that in a USB port... and some how not fry the motherboard.

As you can imagine, my mom was having none of it.

Pheeew! Can almost see the flames from here.
Still how?! HOW DID HE DO THAT?!

I haven't the slightest clue.

He was like "hey son, we are gonna have internet!". Then he went to the back of the machine (where the modem was) and started hooking it up... and then the lights in front of the monitor started going nuts and the image got distorted, gray and a little weird -kind of like TV static-.

Monitor didn't turn back on after that.

I don't remember if he murdered the screen or the video card, though.
Still it makes no sense!

You know? I wonder if the monitor just was about to die and it was just a hilarious coincidence.
The only thing I could think of is a loose connection (especially with an analog connection like VGA), but that would only be temporary.
That thing DIED XD

My dad never attempted it again.
I don't know if I can speak though,

Early on in my last job I was reconnecting the VGA cable to my monitor.... I some how ended up causing the screen to break just by placing the VGA cable in...
Woah! Probably a defective wire, though.
