I don't blame them for dropping Twitter support hard when Elon wants them to pay a minimum of $42,000 a month to have it. A lot of mobile games have already dropped Twitter as a log-in option because of it as well.

I mean, I know he's not happy owning Twitter, but driving it straight into the ground is definitely not the smart way to get your money back.

Eww, that's how much he wants for the new API charges (at least from Sony)? I saw that it was likely Sony dropped support for Twitter because of the API pricing but nothing about what the cost actually is.
I'm curious what the games that use Twitter as a log-in option did for players that used it as an option? I doubt they just let all those accounts become dead weight but for something that sounds like it would be a big change/impact I haven't seen or heard a thing about this matter until reading your post. Unsure
Yeah, I'm not sure what basis Elon is using for the pricing (if it's amount of people using the service or what), but reports say that PlayStation would have to pay nearly $50K a month to keep the Twitter function on PS. Absolutely ridiculous.

The mobile games that removed Twitter sign-in gave MONTHS notice, so players had plenty of time to unbind from Twitter and re-bind on another option. At that point anyone who sat on their hands for that long and lost their account had no one to blame but themselves.
I'd be impressed if any company is willing to pay an exorbitant fee to keep Twitter log-in functionality. Especially when users are also leaving that place because of Elon too so I suspect the number of new users who use the Twitter option is probably falling at a constant rate. Errm

I'm also still waiting for the day Sony decides to kill their PlayStation Stars program. I never remember it even exists until I go onto my profile in the PS App and see that dumb trophy cabinet on it. Tongue
I hadn't heard about this until right now, but did anyone else see the custom PS5 console that was given to Jim Ryan for his retirement party?

I wonder if/when we'll see this model released publicly? This year would be perfect for it since 2024 marks the 30th anniversary of PlayStation, although I'd only want the controller myself because I'm not going to buy another PS5 no matter what design they slap onto it. Too bad it'll probably be exclusively for the console bundle like the controller was for that special PS4 model that was PSX themed.
Yeah, I remember seeing this at the time of his retirement party. The console itself looks ugly with that gray in the middle, but I would literally do some terrible things for that controller. If they release that as a standalone thing, I'll take 20.
I forgot when I wrote my previous post that unlike the PS4, the PS5 has swappable face plates so maybe we will get things sold separately this time around if Sony does do a PS5/PSX themed console bundle. I'd only care for face plates though if they had the PS symbol pattern on it like what the PS4 controller had on the touch pad: https://www.flickr.com/photos/playstatio...5933786591

And yeah, that central tone of grey is really, really bad. It might work better if it had been matte but with that gloss finish it gives me like weird hospital vibes or something. Errm
I'm sad I was never able to get the PS4 controller. I wasn't gonna buy another PS4 just for the controller, and of course anyone selling it online was asking for astronomical prices for it. Like yes, I purchased 12 or 13 PS4 controllers during the PS4 years, but those were all at MSRP or cheaper due to sales.

I just hope that if, by some miracle, Sony does decide to sell that controller as its own thing, they actually have a decent stock of it and they don't all go to bots of scalpers who will then try to resell them for a few hundred on eBay.

In the end though they'll probably let that amazing controller design go to waste as a unique, one-of-a-kind gift for worthless Jim Ryan. Man, imagine wasting that on his worthless ass instead of letting it print money for you on the open market.
I was wondering why the console looked like that with the grey, then noticed the cable end sticking out looking like it is PS1 era, then saw the controller itself. Dang, wouldn't mind seeing that become a new design/scheme for the Dual Sense.
I didn't realize Sony were going to be showing anything about the new PS5 model at CES 2024, but if anyone remembers those new Deep Earth Collection colours that were unveiled last September, the new PS5's have been given those same colours:

I wish there was a close-up shot of the blue controller. I really want to see how nice one actually is in a natural environment rather than a tailored photo shoot. Nooo
NGL, they're starting to remind me of just taller Wii models ROFL

It's a very pretty controller. :nodders:

I'll try to get a good picture of mine to show you some time.

I'd appreciate that! ^_^

So it got delisted while I was viewing the page, but Best Buy Canada had a listing for a DualSense V2, which  boasts a better battery life and apparently it also comes with a charging dock but the price is the same as a current DualSense controller even though it has a charging dock included. Nothing else about it seemed to be different but there have been claims it weighs less by people who have somehow got their hands on one.

I don't doubt the improved controller is real but I do wonder why Sony didn't debut it at CES. Seems like that would've been a good time to mention it so I'm curious when we'll hear about it now. Hmm
Digital Foundry: PlayStation 5 Pro Spec Analysis
I guess PS5 Pro specs got leaked in a way that makes them really credible because Digital Foundry chose to do a full analysis on them: Eurogamer | Spec Analysis: PlayStation 5 Pro - the most powerful console yet

Here's a spec comparison between the PS5 and the PS5 Pro:
  • CPU Architecture / Clock Speeds
    • PlayStation 5 Pro: Eight core/16 Thread Zen 2 at 3.5GHz/3.85GHz
    • PlayStation 5: Eight core/16 Thread Zen 2 at 3.5GHz
  • GPU Compute Units / Architecture
    • PlayStation 5 Pro: 60 CUs, RNDA 3 (TBC)
    • PlayStation 5: 36 CUS, RDNA 2
  • TFLOPs / GPU Clock Speed
    • PlayStation 5 Pro: 33.5TF/ 2.18GHz (TBC)
    • PlayStation 5: 10.23TF/ 2.23GHz
  • GDDR6 Memory
    • PlayStation 5 Pro: 16GB at 18Gbps
    • PlayStation 5: 16GB at 14Gbps
  • Memory Available For Games
    • PlayStation 5 Pro: 13.7GB
    • PlayStation 5: 12.5GB
  • Memory Interface / Bandwidth
    • PlayStation 5 Pro: 256-bit/576GB/s
    • PlayStation 5: 256-bit/448GB/s

I haven't really looked at everything enough to give thoughts on it yet but wanted to share this while I saw it.
Seems to be a very slight difference. The CPU speed hasn't changed at all, it looks to be mostly graphics performance being enhanced. If it's more than a $50 markup over the standard, it'll be a rip off.
