RE: Animal Crossing: New Horizons | Version 2.0 + DLC Details - ShiraNoMai - Nov 2nd, 2021

Eh, I miss the mundanities of the Dailies I think. I wanted nothing more than to start picking the weeds, tidying up the island, and so.

Either way, I'm excited. I got the DLC pre-ordered and pre-loaded. Friday must come sooner!

Turns out that the 2.0 update and the DLC are live today instead of tomorrow! Here are some notable things about the update that weren't known before now:
  • Harv’s shops cost $100,000 bells. You can only build ONE per day
  • Isabelle announces the visiting NPC of the day
  • DIYs can now be added to home storage
  • Moving houses/buildings costs $10,000 bells
  • Blathers is offering framed pictures for completed museum sections
  • New DIYs from Celeste
  • Kapp’n offers ONE boat tour a day
I am very happy to see moving buildings has decreased dramatically in price. Before now it was 30,000 for a villager house and 50,000 for your own house if you wanted to move them. I wonder if bridges and inclines have changed price at all as well. Hmm

Animal Crossing: New Horizons | Switch 2 Edition + Free Update Trailer
Despite saying four years ago that the Version 2.0 update would be the final update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, a new trailer has shadow dropped revealing new additions to the game for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 players.

Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Features
  • Enhanced resolution.
  • Joy-Con Mouse support.
  • Expanded online play supporting up to 12 players.
  • Webcam support.
  • Megaphone item to more easily locate villagers.

Free Update Features
  • New resort hotel building on the pier manned by Kapp'n. You can decorate rooms for guests and even dress them up!
  • Home storage expanded to hold up to 9000 items.
  • Resetti is back as a cleaning service.
  • Luna has a new dream world called Slumber Island featuring three full islands to customize.
  • Select NSO games can be accessed in your house.
  • Collaboration content with Splatoon, The Legend of Zelda, and Lego.
  • Bulk crafting.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and the free update both drop on January 15, 2026.

Interesting, but unless obtaining recipes for items has been improved I doubt I'll care to go back to the game. The difficulty of getting the recipe cards I wanted to decorate my island with the stuff I wanted became such a slog that I just got tired of never knowing if/when I would actually get to decorate my island how I wanted to, and the DLC made it worse by being able to freely decorate houses only to return to your island and have to wait for the recipe cards for anything you made in the DLC that you want to bring to your main island.

There's bulk crafting from your storage now, which I think helps. I never cared to get every little thing and if I did there are free animal crossing new horizon treasure islands all over twitch to help with that. 🤷‍♀️

Oh I don't need to get every recipe. Just the ones I want but it got tedious after a while. Sad
I recall that certain villager types would give particular recipes, so in that case a good idea would've been to make it that when a guest visits the hotel, if they're happy with the room they got you'll get a recipe card from them. If your village is already fully populated you'll never be able to get recipes from a villager type you don't have without kicking someone out, so this would solve that problem and lessen the recipe grind.

I watch an animal crossing new horizon content creator on youtube and they're demanding the return of the star trees. 😄 Doubtful since nintendo banned it so quickly. But definitely getting recipes easy would be great.

I just started a new island on my Switch 2 and move my old town to my old Switch, more so since I want all of the special characters in my new town. I just hope they don't make us scan in the new characters 3 times still, feels like a waste of time impo. <_<
