RE: Notable/Celebrity Deaths - ShiraNoMai - Mar 31st, 2023 What a major loss for this mortal realm. I'm sad I learned of him post-mortem but I'm absolutely awe-inspired by the life he lived and hope his efforts in altruism and comedy continue in perpetuity. RE: Notable/Celebrity Deaths - Moonface - Apr 7th, 2023 I doubt most people here would know of this band let alone the person, but I just saw that Paul Cattermole of S Club 7 has passed away at 46 years of age. Doesn't seem to be any cause of death given yet, but I get the impression it could be suicide. The group had announced a reunion tour just a few weeks ago, which had actually almost sold out across all of its announced dates, but apparently in the wake of that announcement Cattermole was the target of a lot of negative comments online about his appearance. His dad also used Cattermole's fame to lure two young fans with learning disabilities into thinking they would get to meet the band member; instead, Cattermole's dad raped both of them. That happened shortly prior to Paul's departure from S Club 7. Source: https://news.sky.com/story/s-club-7s-paul-cattermole-dies-aged-46-12851988 Seems like the poor sod had nothing but bad luck and troubles ever since that incident and his departure from the group. I don't feel anything about it in the sense of having any real attachment to S Club 7 but I know they were a big thing back in the day and it sucked to see someone pass away first at a young age, and then discovering what he'd been through and that the group was going to do a seemingly successful reunion tour that could've been a really positive turnaround for Cattermole. RE: Notable/Celebrity Deaths - Mr EliteL - Apr 8th, 2023 Nothing wrong with his appearance, stupid F's making unnecessary comments about him, he just aged some like everyone does. Then what the actual with his father, what a piece of shit. I was sort of into S Club 7 when I was young, but moved on from their stuff, but damn I don't blame him after the crap he went through recently, possibly more. RIP to Paul. RE: Notable/Celebrity Deaths - Moonface - Apr 8th, 2023 Yeah, I mean his appearance is drastically different I'd say compared to how he was when the group was first a thing, but I wouldn't say he was unattractive. Heck I was surprised to see how he used to look after seeing how he looked presently with how night and day it was yet I felt I liked his current look more. Of course this isn't too say that if his appearance had actually gone to shit it would be okay to criticize him. Guess I'm just surprised (not that I should be) people were making comments about him when he looked fine and like a regular dude. RE: Notable/Celebrity Deaths - ShiraNoMai - Apr 9th, 2023 What an absolute tragedy. No one deserved to be served life the way he did. Fuck his dad, fuck those "fans" that just tore into his appearance... fame can really really suck if handed to you like this. What a shame. I hope he finds peace in the next life. RE: Notable/Celebrity Deaths - Moonface - Apr 15th, 2023 (Apr 9th, 2023, 03:50 AM)ShiraNoMai Wrote:Yeah, and the more I read about him back when his death had just been announced the more terrible things I kept finding. He declared bankruptcy in 2014, and tried selling his Brit Award in 2018 to get some money together. Despite the closing bid reaching £66,100 the winner failed to pay up. He also listed his 2002 Brit Award which also reached similar numbers at auction, but again the winner failed to pay up and so it was relisted and sold for just £3,000. His finances were so bad in 2018 that when he went on a morning TV show to do an interview he thanked the producers during it for giving him a shirt to wear. Most if not all other attempts he made at getting a TV appearance anywhere were unsuccessful because he apparently didn't have the right look or some stupid shit. The guy couldn't catch a break at every turn and when it finally looks like he'll get a chance to turn his fortunes around with this reunion tour fans tore him down over that too. His cause of death hasn't been determined/released still yet but I'm still going to be shocked if it was a natural passing. I don't even know how I'd feel about that because while suicide is absolutely awful, I can't help but feel that him naturally passing when there might have been a light at the end of the tunnel to just be a real final kick in the teeth after everything he dealt with. RE: Notable/Celebrity Deaths - Mr EliteL - Apr 16th, 2023 Man that's worse than I thought he was in, poor guy. Also didn't realise the cause of death hadn't been determined yet but if it were natural, damn, the toll of everything was too heavy indeed. RE: Notable/Celebrity Deaths - Moonface - Apr 24th, 2023 (Apr 16th, 2023, 11:40 AM)Mr EliteL Wrote:It could be, since the other day I randomly stumbled upon NerdCubed on YouTube after not having watched them for nearly a decade and the video they had just uploaded was about how the stress they had put onto themselves work wise as a content creator caused them to have a heart attack. I don't know how old he is but he isn't far from our ages, and it was wild to me to learn that someone in their 30's can actually have a heart attack without necessarily having a medical history that puts them at risk for one, like having a heart problem or something. RE: Notable/Celebrity Deaths - Moonface - Apr 27th, 2023 Jerry Springer Has Passed Away at 79 Jerry Springer has passed away at the age of 79. The presenter died at his home outside Chicago on Thursday after a "brief illness", according to family: https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-65415348 He was most famously known for his talk show The Jerry Springer show, which ran for 27 years and was known for its wild crowd and fights between guests. Prior to his broadcasting career, which included roles as a political reporter and commentator, Springer was the mayor of Cincinnati. RE: Notable/Celebrity Deaths | Jerry Springer (79) - Maniakkid25 - Apr 27th, 2023 According to the sources I could find, that brief illness was Pancreatic Cancer, which -- for those that don't know -- is basically cancer on Hard mode. Indeed, it's survival rate is on par with brain cancer, which is also abysmal. This death came out of left field, imo. Just...damn. RE: Notable/Celebrity Deaths | Jerry Springer (79) - Moonface - Apr 27th, 2023 I guess that detail wasn't known at the time his passing was announced earlier today since I didn't see anything about cancer being mentioned anywhere. Seems he had it for a few months but must have been kept quiet due to knowing it was practically a death sentence and wanting Springer to be left alone with what little time he would have had left from the moment of diagnosis. I also didn't know his show ran all the way up until 2018 either. Not sure how I really feel about his show honestly since I didn't watch it, but I know it absolutely spawned a lot of clone shows such as The Jeremy Kyle Show in the UK, and although I'll admit I once found that show entertaining looking back on it that sort of show is just too reliant on making it fun to turn people's problems into a TV spectacle. That particular show was cancelled in the UK after a guest committed suicide following an appearance on the show, which I didn't know about until now because the show was still airing when I lived in the UK. Assuming any other types of these shows are also dead or on the way out, I hope they don't come back really. RE: Notable/Celebrity Deaths | Jerry Springer (79) - Mr EliteL - Apr 28th, 2023 According to the news I read in a newspaper just now, Springer got diagnosed just recently like in the past week and his condition took a sudden turn for the worse then he went. So dang, it didn't last long. I mostly remember him from the segment on The Simpsons, a Treehouse of Horror Episode where they were trying to find out who was Maggie's father between Homer and Kang. I did watch a couple clips on YouTube of his show but don't remember what happened in them as it was very long ago I did so. Still, RIP to Springer. RE: Notable/Celebrity Deaths | Jerry Springer (79) - Moonface - Apr 30th, 2023 (Apr 28th, 2023, 04:45 PM)Mr EliteL Wrote:I doubt he was diagnosed that soon before death, especially given his spokesperson claimed otherwise. I'd be curious to see the article that you read since I can't find anywhere sharing that claim. Dang I forgot about that segment on The Simpsons. I wonder if that was the first time I became aware of Jerry Springer the person and the show. Also, not a death since they're not dead yet but it sucked to see yesterday that Michael J. Fox doubts he will make it anywhere close to 80 years old as his Parkinson's is getting harder to deal with: Michael J. Fox Wrote:I wonder how much longer he has left, as well as all the other notable people who have been diagnosed with horrible diseases and such that are all ticking time bombs. RE: Notable/Celebrity Deaths | Jerry Springer (79) - Moonface - May 25th, 2023 Just saw that Tina Turner has passed away at 83 years of age. Haven't had a chance to read anything more about it though yet. RE: Notable/Celebrity Deaths | Jerry Springer (79) - ShiraNoMai - May 26th, 2023 Shame. Stellar vocalist and musician, but as with all things, time keeps pressing on and she wasn't getting any younger. Unfortunate she seemed to have passed from battling a long illness, but you know, she had a pretty peaceful ending to her long life: she was in her nice estate in Switzerland that she had recently acquired with her non-abusive husband after they both had become citizens recently. |
