RE: Otherworldly Being - Mr EliteL - Jun 29th, 2023 Oohh, a solid reason to go into London that isn't for ComicCon. Hmm yes I should definitely try and go there, gather up some money to spend as I don't want to go there and not get anything. I have a week off in July so I hope it's open then. If not I have another 6 days off at the end of July for the Network Test, I booked off the Monday 31st in order to get extra days off. So either would be perfect time to go and see, plus Camden still is a good place to go, got some t-shirts from there a while back (Gintama/Gurren Lagann)...oh that was before I went to Florida as I wore them there so dang time keeps flying. RE: Otherworldly Being - Moonface - Jul 1st, 2023 Apparently Bandai Namco will be giving more details about the store when it gets closer to its opening date. Hopefully they have some sort of website up for it that lets you see what stuff they have and for how much so you can plan out spending. On the bright side the store doesn't seem to be a limited time thing so there's at least no rush to get there, unlike that Pokémon Center that opened in London at some point but was only temporary. RE: Otherworldly Being - Mr EliteL - Jul 1st, 2023 Yeah I assume it'll be on Namco's site where I saw their news, which was pretty much what you posted, on the store soon hopefully. Forgot about that Pokémon Center thing, too bad that wasn't to stay. Hope this does well enough to be able to stick around. If it's a type of place to hold small events too it might interest me to go more... perhaps. RE: Otherworldly Being - Moonface - Jul 1st, 2023 Well that Pokémon Center was only temporary because it was intended to be that way (although if it performed well I personally think it should've become a permanent fixture). Since we're talking about stores, what's a merch store you'd love to see open up in the UK or visit if one exists in another country? RE: Otherworldly Being - Mr EliteL - Jul 3rd, 2023 Just an anime/game store but considering Tokyotoys got removed from London but did get to have a new store in Sidcup, doubt another could make it, let alone a specialised store surrounding something in particular. This Namco thing is a good start. Can't remember if there's a Nintendo store here, don't think so but in another country perhaps I wouldn't mind going to. RE: Otherworldly Being - ShiraNoMai - Jul 3rd, 2023 Oh yeah, I forgot TokyoToys in London died. RIP o7 I'm shocked no hobby shops have cropped up around you. Like, little tabletop/card game/arcade places to hang out and play with others in. There's quite a few where I am. RE: Otherworldly Being - Moonface - Jul 5th, 2023 I can't believe Tokyo Toys died considering they're always the biggest vendor at MCM Comic Con. Nintendo should also really open a store in London. It sucks that the only one not in Japan is in New York. Also, happy birthday you old fart! RE: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! | Otherworldly Being - Mr EliteL - Jul 5th, 2023 TokyoToys haven't died exactly, just the store that was in that Trocodero place, although that place needed a revamp anyway when I went there last which would've been...I dunno whenever I went to or tried to go to that TokyoToys store years ago now. They still have their online site, Birmingham, Glasgow physical store plus the new Sidcup one which is on the outskirts of London and well to troublesome for public travel. Better for a car that one or if you live locally or nearer to it. Yeah Nintendo only having a store in just Japan and one in NY is pretty poor. Need to branch out a bit, but they probably won't. I suppose when I get to visit Nintendo World in either US or Japan or their respective stores, that'll be enough anyway. Thanks Moony! Oh the joys of my number turning a single digit higher. 'Spose I'll list what I got; -Cheese, Chutney, Wafer Crackers, Crisps from my Mum (they were in a deal) -Rise of the Shield Hero novel vol 7 & 8 from sister and friend (I've had 9 & 10 for a while and well needed those two in order to read them, still yet to complete vol.6) -3 figures - two action figures of NieR 2B and Kaine from my Dad, he had them for a long while himself for some reason and gave them to me. He actually has other bigger figurines of them too. I know he's never played the game of course but he knew a bit what they were, assuming he just liked their designs. Also reason could've been related to my late Aunt who collected figurines, dolls and such herself, she had the Tekken 3 Anna figure too. That third figure though, I cannot mention it, I just can't. Awaiting my brother's present. Spent morning updating Genshin, playing on there for a bit on all accounts and got Klee's new skin. Bought our new washing machine which will be delivered tomorrow. Also did bowling and had our meal out where I ate too much and felt sick on the way back but recovered. The bowling I did poorly again but not as bad as last time when I kept getting a new worst score (previous worst 46 then got 45, 44, 39), although today I did indeed get another new worst score, which almost ended up probably being the worst score in the history of bowling if I hadn't got 16 points towards the end (could've been 5). I...seriously don't get how my bowling has gone to crap recently because my first game today I didn't try and was testing out yet beat the two games I was trying. Need to look at some videos to help I think. I sure as hell want to get better. My scores this time were 63, 55, 21. How I wish I could get back to 116 and definitely want to get higher than that. Although, I do recall that Trocadero itself was closing or something and thought that Tokyo Toys said they were relocating due to that, so maybe it isn't that they just didn't have a successful store there but that they just had to move out due to circumstances beyond their control. Looks like Trocadero as a whole is completely finished and was turned into a hotel now. (Jul 5th, 2023, 10:46 PM)Mr EliteL Wrote:I was about to question the 2B figure until you mentioned they came from your dad who already had them for as you said, some reason. Do you think you'd ever give NieR: Automata a go? Sounds like you had a rather chill birthday overall and didn't get bombarded with a load of gifts that are just fluff that you don't care for. RE: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! | Otherworldly Being - Mr EliteL - Jul 6th, 2023 Ah, there's a hotel in that place now, huh. I suppose London does need more places like that with all the population there. Ah unlikely. I know it's a good game and series but I just never really got on board with it. RE: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! | Otherworldly Being - Moonface - Jul 7th, 2023 (Jul 6th, 2023, 06:15 PM)Mr EliteL Wrote:That and I doubt any singular business needed the space for a store because any major business already has a high traffic spot close to that area. Although I do wonder what took up the upper floors before it became a hotel, unless it's one with only a few floors or something. Haven't taken a proper look into it to see what about the overall interior space changed from when we last visited it prior to it changing into a hotel. (Jul 6th, 2023, 06:15 PM)Mr EliteL Wrote:Fair enough. If anything maybe just watch the anime for it instead since it summarizes the game up pretty well plus adds in some stuff from media outside of the game that never left Japan, so you actually get more story overall compared to the game (at least based on what I've watched so far). Also, because you'll probably find this amusing, I had some coworkers today asking about McCain fries because they've recently started being sold in the US and this week my store in particular has them on buy one get one free, and word has spread about how I know a lot about the brand because of it being so prominent in the UK. Anyway, them asking about it made me remember that the fries take up almost an entire side of the aisle in frozen food in our Asda store (unless it changed since I left) and I mentioned that fact to said coworkers and it seemed like they found it impossible to fathom. RE: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! | Otherworldly Being - ShiraNoMai - Jul 7th, 2023 Sounds like you had a decent day! I also second the Nier anime recommendation if you don't feel like playing the game. The game is a great experience but the anime retell is doing a solid job. We got gifts for you here but we'll.. .eventually get them to ya RE: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! | Otherworldly Being - Eric - Jul 8th, 2023 Happy late birthday to you MrEliteL! Sounds like you had lots of fun. That's good. RE: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! | Otherworldly Being - Mr EliteL - Jul 9th, 2023 Thanks, Eric! Yeah I might check the Nier anime out sometime, not now though, I know it's close to it's end of airing. Probably wait till a disc release or something. Ah, McCain's stuff. Yes there used to be a lot of it, but they've moved Frozen about quite a bit that the McCain lines have gone down to like a quarter of an aisle now. Although that is funny how much they want to know about McCain from you to spread it around like that. "OMG new fries, and from UK?!" "Adam's from the UK, he might know!" "Alright we'll ask him about how good they are!" RE: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! | Otherworldly Being - ShiraNoMai - Jul 10th, 2023 (Jul 9th, 2023, 10:24 AM)Mr EliteL Wrote:I mean, it's on Crunchyroll. Is that region-locked? You can watch any time lol Unless you just prefer watching things on a physical medium, of course. I realize I didn't actually say the words "happy birthday" with my last post, and whoops. Well, it's 4 days later. Happy belated, friend. |
