The unofficial name of the Czech Republic. It's the name that the nation wants to use on maps and stuff, similar in tone to how "The French Republic" is better known as "France".

Ah, I didn't know that about either of those countries, so thanks for the informative post! ^_^  Are they the only Republic countries that are or want to be called by a different name?

No; each country has an official name and a map name. Like China being "the People's Republic of China", and Taiwan is "the Republic of China". Czechia was the odd man out, because it was always known only as "the Czech Republic", at least to English speakers, after it split with Slovakia. But Czechia has been making a push to be called by its map name, so do make sure you call it that. Be nice to Czechia.

I specifically only know the country by Czechia now because there's a person on a Discord server I'm on that's actually from there/lives there ROFL

I literally looked up similar-looking buildings for a few minutes on Google. When I saw some in France and remembered the WW2 hint, I figured France was a solid guess Grin
