You'd be correct that they were announced before. I&II 2DHD Remake were announced in June of 2024.
I'm looking forward to these finally releasing. I've been putting off playing the remake of III so that I can play them all in a row and hopefully get the best experience that way. Been a long wait, but only a couple of months left to go.

On an important side note, I don't know if these details were shared in any trailers but this summary video mentions the following changes to these games:
Dragon Quest I HD-2D
- Never-before-seen lore of the princess
- Lore connections to Dragon Quest 3 that were not present in previous versions or remakes
- The ability to fight more than one enemy at the same time
- Addition of previously scrapped content
- 4th party member
- A complete version of an area that appears from Dragon Quest I, which in previous versions was only a scaled down version of that area
- Five sigils in permanent locations
- New abilities, spells, monsters, and bosses

I played the 3DS version of this and this game is really good. So, playing a remaster should be interesting to see how they change it.

I'm going to have to go on a major Dragon Quest binge pretty soon. Got Dragon Quest XI S to play still, plus Dragon Quest I & II & III to play (been holding off on playing III so I can do III > I > II straight), then now VII Reimagined and eventually XII coming on the horizon too.
Between these and the major binge I have to do on the Trails series (waiting on Second Chapter Remake so I can do Sky Remakes > replay Cold Steel I & II > Azure and Zero > Cold Steel III & IV > Daybreak trilogy), I can probably keep myself busy just on them for the next three years.

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined Will Have A New Never-Before-Seen Conclusion
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined will be getting a new ending, as reported in the latest issue of Game Informer which is featuring the game as its main cover story. The news was shared in an interview with the games producer, Takeshi Ichikawa:
