Are you in a landlocked country?

Then my immediate guess is you are in Thailand.

Well dang, that would be correct! What made you pick that of all places as an immediate guess? XD

RE: Where in the World #28 - Maniakkid25 - Aug 20th, 2024

It was 80% guess, but South Asia was pretty much the only place that fit the criteria, so it was locked down to pretty much four countries by that point lol.

Fair enough. For specifics, the shot is from the island of Phuket: https://maps.app.goo.gl/5v75F6GuCPEXhTQv6

Damn! I was actually certain Thailand shared an ocean border with the Indian Ocean, but apparently Myanmar said "no ocean border for you".

Good catch. The ocean waters reminded me a lot of Fiji, and the idea of the location being an island made no sense considering it was supposed to be attached to a continent--i didn't consider that countries aren't always a whole piece of landmass lol

RE: Where in the World #28 - Maniakkid25 - Aug 20th, 2024

Yeah, I did need to consult a world map on this one once you eliminated major oceans. And the countries that aren't a whole piece of landmass is why I thought Malaysia was the country at first. In fact, I was so certain, I thought Moony gave the game away by asking for clarification of my first question, because Malaysia is arguably considered part of Oceania, but has a land border with Thailand, which is part of Asia. So when that turned out to be wrong, I was thrown for a bit of a loop, and had to re-obtain my bearings.

Yeah that shit was right next door, too, so you were like, inches away lmao

I was way off. I thought, "Well, if it wasn't Pacific Ocean waters I'm looking at, then it's definitely going to be somewhere with Gulf of Mexico waters," cuz those colorations are so warm. I completely dismissed SEA particularly because I couldn't find architecture that really matched when the beach areas had buildings near them, as well as a road that rang alongside it.
