Kirby and the Forgotten Land (NS)

Been waiting forever for this to go on a decent sale. Saw Walmart had it for $20 off online, which is the most I've seen this game discounted by yet. Could have continued waiting for a bigger discount, but decided to just bite the bullet on it and take the $20 discount because knowing Nintendo this will be the largest discount I'll see on the game any time in the next 10-40 years.

Didn't know you were into Kirby games @Dragon Lord. Tongue

RE: Latest Gaming Purchase - Dragon Lord - Apr 19th, 2024

I haven't really gotten into many of the newer Kirby games, but I was a huge fan of them back in the day. Kirby Superstar is one of my favorite SNES games (of course this includes the Ultra version that released on DS), Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland was one of my favorite GBA games (especially thanks to the Fountain of Dreams theme from the final boss fight, which can also be heard in Super Smash Bros Melee on the level of the same name). I also greatly enjoyed Kirby 64 as a kid.

I've wanted to play The Forgotten Land since it released, because I heard a lot of people say that was the "Dark Souls of Kirby games" and it piqued my interest. One thing about Kirby games is that they tend to be far too easy, so I'm interested in a Kirby game that can maybe provide an ounce of a challenge in it. Of course I'm not expecting a Souls-like experience here, just interested to see if the game does actually give the player a slight challenge at all or not. Either way, I expect to have a lot of fun with it because from the game play I have seen, it looks really great.

I just don't like paying full price for Nintendo games because they just... don't really feel worth it most of the time, and even though I like Kirby and think I'll enjoy the game, I still couldn't pull the trigger at a full $60 for it.

Understandable. I think that's what I'd pay for that game, too. I wonder if that sale is still live...

Recently got the Spring Into Learning: Humongous Entertainment Bundle from Humble Bundle. All the classic edutainment games from the 90's/00's like Freddi Fish, Spy Fox, Putt-Putt, etc. It was 38 games for $15. Not bad Shrug

The sale price is (at the time of this post) still in effect. $39.99 online at Walmart. Best Buy is the next cheapest at $42.99, while Gamestop remains at $59.99, or $54.99 for a pre-owned copy (wow Gamestop, wow).

Target and Amazon both show the game being completely unavailable.

I don't think I could ever have enough confidence in a game before playing it to buy two copies of it like this. XD

The demo for the game really solidified my decision to buy it twice, and I haven't regretted it yet. The game just keeps getting better and better the further into it you go.

Dead Space (PS5) - $30
Was in Target to grab some kitty litter and decided to look at the game section just cuz. Saw this was $40 off so decided to just grab it. Tongue

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (PS4)

Amazon had it on sale for $37 (was $36, but I waited too long and it went back up a dollar) and it was the final copy in stock at the time, so I figured I would finally snatch up the game since you just never know when stock of physical copies is going to finally run dry. Especially for a game that's 5+ years old.

Ooh nice. I've been playing that game a lot the last week trying to get the Platinum. I'll warn you up front, the trophy for getting all of the skills is easily the roughest one because of the amount of XP required to earn skill points in the final 40+ levels.

Little Kitty, Big City (NS)
Bought it a few days ago because @ShiraNoMai and I have really been looking forward to playing it. It's an okay game, although it could use some refinements in places for QoL that are irking me more now that the initial honeymoon phase charm of the game has started to wear off.

Picked up this Rayman Walking Shell plush (my own photo) from a charity shop last Wednesday. I remember seeing it a time before like a month or so ago but decided against it at the time but not had claimed it, apparently there for a number of weeks from the price tag but just went for him this time. Used, the label is worn and so is the fabric of the lace part of Rayman's shoes has faded a bit. Says it's Rayman 3, which I found out the Walking Shells did appear in the GBA version of the game, because I first thought it was Rayman riding his shoe when he's shrunk in Rayman 3, but it never had the grey legs sticking out of course, nope it is a Walking Shell instead.

Final Fantasy VII Remake (PS4)

Went to Walmart after work Sunday morning and saw they still had copies of this for $20. Game seems to be sold out most places online, so I figured this might be one of the final chances to pick up a physical copy of it and for only $20 I figured it was less of a waste of money than the game is normally.

Now if only I could find a sealed PS5 copy some where without having to pay $200 for it on eBay.

Oh, also made some cheap Steam purchases tonight.

The Vagrant ($0.78)
The Dragon's Prophecy ($4.94)
Mysteria~Occult Shadows~ ($2.59)

The Vagrant is the name of the same game I just recently finished on PS4 (Sword of the Vagrant). It was a fun enough game that I figured for less than a buck I'd be willing to buy it and 100% it again on Steam at some point.

The Dragon's Prophecy is a RPGMaker-like game that is a loveletter to the JRPG classics of the NES (think the original Final Fantasy). From what I read, it's not a long game, but it's really good for what it sets out to do and it seemed like $5 was worth the purchase.

Mysteria is... an interesting game. It seems that it's a pretty big mess in terms of quality (lots of bugs and glitches, game can softlock at a lot of places, just feels very unfinished from a coding perspective), but has really nice art. Seems like it was a case where the developer's vision was far too large scope for the time and budget they had, and they rushed it out before actually finishing it. It'll be interesting just to see how broken it is and if I can even finish the game, haha. On the plus side, despite all that jank, it's about cute catgirls in skimpy outfits, so I get some nice eye candy for my $2.50 that maybe makes it worth it anyways.

SMT V Vengeance (PC)

Pre-ordered it on the latest day possible, so I have the nice little reusable items that you get for that. What surprised me, however, was what I found on loading it up: the new story content is OPTIONAL! Yes, unlike the Persona updates, the new story is behind a decision you make right at the beginning of the game (and I do mean RIGHT at the beginning). So, if you want, you can still experience SMT V in mostly its original form. I say mostly because there are many quality of life improvements the game has made, as well as new demons and items. That is the Canon of Creation, but the new story is the Canon of Vengeance. So far, it feels like a self-insert fanfic, but we'll see how it plays out.
