RE: PlayStation 5 | Classic Console Themes Return - Mr EliteL - Apr 24th, 2025 Yeah sucks we can't mix stuff and have the ultimate nostalgia, I'd have the PS1 logo start up, PS2 menu start up, probably PS3 menu sounds, not sure on menu style. Anyway cool we got classic themes back in some capacity at least. RE: PlayStation 5 | Classic Console Themes Return - Moonface - Nov 5th, 2025 Hmm, so a new leak via datamining has uncovered a new Cross-Buy icon intended for the PS Store on games that are on both PS5 and PC. #1 #2 I can't recall but apparently some games had this for the PS4 and PS Vita where one purchase got you the game on both systems? If this does become a thing though I wonder if it'll only apply to future releases or if it'll be applied to all cross-platform titles, and if the latter then will anyone who bought those games before Cross-Buy rolls out receive PC and PS5 access retroactively?
RE: PlayStation 5 | Classic Console Themes Return - Dragon Lord - Nov 5th, 2025 Yeah, PS4/Vita had several titles that were cross-buy. I know I have a few of them, but can't remember which ones off the top of my head... I know there's a few of the games that share trophy/achievement lists if you connect your PSN to Steam, which I think is pretty cool. I know Stellar Blade is one of them, which I supposed I could do that and then 100% the PC version to get the last few trophies I need on PS5 and get them completed at the same time, haha. I know there's another game that has this feature too, but I can't remember which one... God of War: Ragnarok maybe? Anyways, it'll be cool if some future games (or even past ones that get updated for it) come in a "by on one, get on both" package. As everyone probably knows by now, I am a lover of the double/triple/quadruple dip on games that I enjoy (evident by the fact that I've purchased and 100%'d Dark Souls five times). So if in the future there are games where I can purchase one less time (at the cost of having to have digital on PS5, yuck), then that might be pretty nice. RE: PlayStation 5 | Classic Console Themes Return - Moonface - Jan 9th, 2026 HYPERPOP Collection | PS5 Covers & DualSense Controllers Striking DualSense wireless controllers and PS5 console covers in maxed-out colours. Choose your track: Techno Red, Remix Green, or Rhythm Blue. Launching on March 12, 2026. Pre-orders will begin on January 16, 2026 at 10am local time at direct.playstation.com (where available) as well as participating retailers. More images can be seen at the PlayStation Blog if you want a better look than what the video offers. Hmm. I like them but I don't know how I feel about how harsh the black gradient is. The trailer thumbnail has a smoother gradient in the background behind each color which looks nicer to me, but maybe they look better in person?
RE: PlayStation 5 | Classic Console Themes Return - Dragon Lord - Mar 22nd, 2026 I like the blue one (surprise), but I don't know if I'd actually pick one up. I kinda have enough PS5 controllers as it is and plus I just re-bought an Edge, so I think I'm set on PS5 controllers for now, haha. So rumors have been swirling a lot lately that PlayStation is set to release a "Pro" model of the PlayStation Portal with an OLED screen later in 2026. Man, I sure hope these rumors are more than just baseless gossip. I've actually been very interested in picking up a Portal, because I still game on PS5 a lot and having the ability to just lay in bed and play a PS5 or go to another room if I want to relax on the couch or something. I even considered buying one this last month, but these rumors have me hesitant because I don't want to drop the money on the current Portal, only for them to announce this rumored Pro model right after. Though I guess in that instance, at least I'd be able to still return it. Knowing my luck, I'd buy one, and then they would announce a Portal Pro right after my return period ended, haha. Talking about a Switch 2 OLED in another topic reminded me about the Portal Pro rumors. A a huge OLED-whore, I will always hold out hope for an OLED version of anything I want to come out. RE: PlayStation 5 | Classic Console Themes Return - Moonface - Mar 25th, 2026 (Mar 22nd, 2026, 07:19 PM)Dragon Lord Wrote:This reminded me of a rumor I saw about the PlayStation Portable making a comeback in 2027, which I thought was likely bullshit at the time but now I'm wondering if someone made a mistake about a Portal Pro instead.
RE: PlayStation 5 | Classic Console Themes Return - Dragon Lord - Mar 25th, 2026 Nah, you're correct in thinking that it's a separate rumor. There has been a rumor floating around for a while now due to a "leak" that PlayStation will be making a companion handheld along with the PS6 that will be able to run games natively, and not just have to stream/share play them. People think it'll be the return of the PSP/PSVita family, where as the Portal is just an accessory of the PS5. RE: PlayStation 5 | Classic Console Themes Return - Moonface - Mar 26th, 2026 If there was a handheld for PS6 that can run games natively, it would probably need to be running the games with some form of downgrade just because it naturally won't be as powerful as the home console will be. It would however address the problem Sony's handhelds always had which was a lack of first-party support; any PlayStation IP's that were on PSP or Vita were most of the time made by a different developer and thus paled in comparison to the home console entries. If there was a PS6 home console and a PS6 handheld, which one would you get @Dragon Lord? RE: PlayStation 5 | Classic Console Themes Return - Moonface - Mar 27th, 2026 Price Changes for PS5, PS5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal Effective as of April 2, 2026, the price of the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal will increase globally in all territories where these products are sold. The changes are as follows: U.S.
Holy fuck, a six year old console and yet another price increase?! At launch, the prices for a PS5 was $499.99, PS5 Digital was $399.99, and PS5 Pro was $699.99. With these new prices, a base PS5 is $50 shy of what a PS5 Pro was at its launch, which is now sitting at $900?! Anyone who pays these prices for a PS5 of any type is out of their fucking mind.
RE: PlayStation 5 | Global Price Increase - Mr EliteL - Mar 27th, 2026 Holy--my eyes can't take looking at the PS5 Pro prices across all regions. £500+ was already bad, then seeing the $ prices, then the Pro's, AAAIIIEEE!! RE: PlayStation 5 | Global Price Increase - Dragon Lord - Mar 28th, 2026 The Portal price increase really sucks for me, because it puts me in a really tough spot. I want a Portal, and as I've mentioned before, I've been waiting out to see if rumors of a Pro model with an OLED Screen end up being true, but now I have to make a really tough decision. Do I continue waiting, only for the rumors to be false and have to pay more for the current Portal later? Do I last-minute buy a Portal now while it's still 'just' $199.99 and risk there actually being a pro model revealed later this year and have buyer's regret and needing to buy a new Portal and try to sell the one I bought? $50 is pretty big and the Portal doesn't go on sale much, and now with the price increase, the "sale" price is probably going to end up being $200-$230 now. I only have a few days to really think about it and make a decision on whether to buy one now while it's at the current price. Either way I could end up regretting the decision (either because a Pro Model does happen and I need to re-buy the Portal, or because it doesn't happen and I end up having to pay $250 for it instead of $200). I suppose the best decision is to just buy one now, and if a Pro Model does happen, I just need to sell it and use the money to go towards getting the upgraded version. That way I at least eliminate one of the possible paths of regret. Not the most ideal situation, but the fact is that since I can always just re-sell the Portal makes getting one now before the price increase the most optimal solution. RE: PlayStation 5 | Global Price Increase - Moonface - Mar 28th, 2026 If there is going to be a Portal Pro my concern for you @Dragon Lord would be what the price of it would be compared to what a standard Portal is currently. I could picture Sony asking for at least $350 for it. RE: PlayStation 5 | Global Price Increase - Dragon Lord - Mar 29th, 2026 My guess would probably be $299.99 for an OLED model, though $349.99 could be a possibility too. I just don't see them raising it too much unless they drastically increase the specs of the machine. But I went ahead and ordered a Midnight Black one here before the price increase kicks in. I've had my eye on the Portal for a long while now and a $50 increase is quite a bit, so I just wanted to go ahead and buy one now while it's still at the $199.99 original price point. I'm pretty excited to get it, it's something I'm going to be putting a lot of use into. The only thing that sucks is the shipping from Amazon is a bit delayed. I don't know if they are backed up with orders of Portals because of the upcoming price increase, but despite being a Prime member, my estimated delivery date is April 6th - April 20th. RE: PlayStation 5 | Global Price Increase - Moonface - Mar 31st, 2026 (Mar 29th, 2026, 10:21 AM)Dragon Lord Wrote:Yeah, I was curious what the price difference was between other devices that have an OLED option, and for the Switch it was a $50 difference whereas the Steam Deck was a $100 difference; however, the Steam Deck OLED had some changes to the hardware beyond just the screen such as battery and Wi-Fi, so unless a Portal Pro were to do similar changes anything more than $50 extra would be overpricing it. Still, better to have got one now while the price is the lowest it's probably ever going to be for a new Portal, even if the shipping is being delayed. At least Amazon will honor the price you paid even if it were to increase before your Portal gets shipped out. Also, I was curious if the Portal went up by the same amount as the consoles did or not because of its lack of a storage drive. It didn't, but also none of the systems went up by the same amount:
RE: PlayStation 5 | Global Price Increase - Dragon Lord - Apr 8th, 2026 Looks like Amazon's stock of Portals did take a huge hit. They no longer have new units available in either colors and you can only buy used/refurbished ones now. Not too surprising, probably a lot of people who were like me and were thinking of picking one up, but then the price increase announcement pushed us to do it now instead of waiting on it. Of course I'm sure there was a bunch of scalpers buying the stock too so they can try to re-sell them for a $20-$30 markup per unit. Interestingly enough though, it looks like Gamestop is the only place that has increased the price of the Portals so far. Walmart, Best Buy and Target all have them listed for $199.99 still (though stock is starting to get low for each store). I wonder if this is just to continue selling their current stock or what. It's odd to me that they haven't increased the price yet while Gamestop seemingly didn't waste any time increasing that price. I'm assuming that they are just going to sell their current stock at the default price, since they purchased those units at the default price as well. Which is kind of surprising, because you'd think that these mega-corporations would be salivating at the chance to mark up the price of units they bought for cheaper and get that extra $50 profit off of them (I guess only Gamestop was lmao). Anyways, glad I pulled the trigger on it regardless. I was already heavily leaning towards wanting one. Just gotta wait for it to arrive... no clue when it will though. My expected delivery date went from "April 6th - April 19th" to now just saying "By April 19th", so I might be in for a bit of a wait yet. Sucks because I'm really excited to get it and start playing around with it. I can't wait to double play games on PS4 on my TV and PS5 on my Portal and start to really eat through my backlog kekW |
