Jumanji: The Next Level

I saw the previous film in the cinema when it first came our, but I hadn't seen this one until today. It was pretty good, and it added some interesting new elements to the mix (e.g. the players swapping characters Tongue ). I'm looking forward to seeing how the story concludes now!

Food Wars - Season 4
Watched the last few episodes of this season last night, and really liked all the call backs to stuff from the show for the final dish. I have no clue where the show plans to go for the last season though since there aren't any plot points left to address, and I can't see what would be a good thing to set up and resolve within the remaining 13 episode season. I'm hoping it doesn't drop the ball because I really love this show. Definitely one of if not my favourite anime of all time and I highly recommend it.

Currently watching the World Snooker Championship.

The match I'm watching (between Ali Carter and Stephen Maguire) is pretty slow, though - so I might call it a day soon.

Started Season 5 of Food Wars. I can't believe I'm finally gonna finish this show. I stopped watching anime for myself once Moony came over, and I was only catching episodes here and there when at the gym. It's been real good to rewatch, new content is hype.

Also started Fallout, just the first episode, and damn what an opening. Reminded me of the opener for The Last of Us show; definitely gotta get you invested with one episode and it worked.

The Chase

Wasn't one of Shaun Wallace's better performances... he failed to catch the contestants' target of 14. Good to see they won the money, though!

A really good (and lengthy) animated parody of Elden Ring that I decided to watch after being reminded this channel exists because YouTube hasn't recommended anything from it to me in forever. I can't decide which is my favourite between this and their Sekiro animated parody. Hmm

Started up Shogun recently and only two episodes in but it's really good so far! I'm so curious about where the plot will go that I have to resist the urge to look up spoilers about it. Nooo

The Opening Ceremony at the Paris Olympics.

Was a bit different... they had the teams on boats, rather than walking in!

I actually preferred this approach because I find the walk-in to be a slog to sit through from how long it takes. Although I expect LA28 to go back to the walk-in method as well as keeping the opening ceremony entirely in a main stadium rather than around the city like Paris did here.

The moment at the end with Celine Dion was easily the highlight of the whole ceremony. Nobody was expecting her to perform again after her diagnosis with stiff-person syndrome, so what she did here was nothing short of amazing and I have no clue how she managed to do it. If this happens to be the last time she gets to perform, it'll be one hell of a send-off for her. The performance for anyone who didn't catch it.

Some coverage of the Olympics. Still no gold medals for Great Britain, but we did get another silver, courtesy of swimmer Adam Peaty Smile !

RE: Current/Last Thing You Watched? - ShiraNoMai - Jul 29th, 2024

Ah yeah I saw the Adam Peaty win, happy he could score another considering he holds world records in his specialties. Smile

Watched some Skateboarding (Women, though, really should be Girls; they were all 14-19) earlier, and the final two quarters of the USA v. SER in the Men's Basketball, cuz we have one of the most star-studded teams assembled and it's just a marvel to witness them all on the same team working together Grin

Before that, saw some Shogun the night before; nearing the end and it's still very good Smile

Most of my days lately are a mixture of Twitch or the Olympics. One of the most recent things I saw from the latter was a pole jumper breaking the world record which was really impressive.

Also recently finished watching the rest of Shogun, and it's such a good show. I don't really see how there's anything to warrant a second and third season because everything in the book was covered and it ends with nothing left to tell. I hope I'm proven wrong but I can't say I have much faith in it doing anything but spoiling the show that already exists. Eh

The Closing Ceremony of the Olympics.

Didn't get massively into it this year - but still, funny to think it's over now, given the extent to which it's been dominating the news coverage lately!

I watched quite a fair bit of the Olympics this time around; probably the most since London 2012. I didn't catch much of the closing ceremony, but I've never really found any of them to be worth watching anyway.

It always gets me how often what seems like a small detail to the patient always turns out to be very important in figuring out what's wrong with them in these stories. I'd love to see ChubbyEmu do a "What If?" scenario where he speculates if outcomes to some of the stories would be different if the doctors were aware of every fact right away instead of finding out about it later, often by accident like is the case in this video.
