I have no idea what it was, but when I left work about an hour ago I saw my car was absolutely swarmed with flies. Something had got onto the window of my back door that attracted them all, and I scraped off what I could with a stick but I could not even begin to guess what it was. At first I thought it was maybe bird shit but it wasn't that.
