Revised Switch 2 Model Possibly Launching in Europe
A new report from Japanese outlet Nikkei claims that Nintendo is planning to launch a revised model of the Nintendo Switch 2 in Europe. This new model would align the company’s ‘right to repair’ policy with legislation in the European Union (EU), in particular the European Battery Regulation, which requires by 2027 that portable batteries in consumer products must be user-replaceable.
There's no indication of plans to bring the revised model to Japanese or American markets, although Nikkei's report says Nintendo may bring the revised model to those markets should consumer awareness of the right to repair increase.

A user-replaceable battery is cool and all, but where's the Switch 2 OLED, Nintendo? If I'm going to overpay for your mediocre system, at least you can have a nice screen on it.

I wonder if Nintendo will even try to do an OLED model anytime soon what with the ongoing RAM shortages, plus they bumped up the price of every Switch 1 model only a year ago so if an OLED Switch 2 did come out I can't see it not being a higher than usual price for it.

I'd still pay the price for an OLED screen, haha. OLED is just that much of a visual upgrade from LCD screens. The difference in the richness of the colors (especially since OLED shows true blacks, and not the washed out grey-blacks that you get on LCD). The release of a Switch 2 OLED would definitely increase my odds of getting one at least, haha. Though it also depends on the games the system gets too. With Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD coming to Steam now, that takes way like 95% of the reason I would have had to pick up a Switch 2.
I have been tempted to pick one up because of the ability to play Path of Radiance on it now. Though I actually just looked it up to double check my facts before posting, and it looks like copies of the game are... relatively "cheap" now. It used to be that you'd be lucky to find a used copy of the game for $300-$400, but I looked on eBay and there's tons of listings for $120-$200 for the game. Obviously still a huge price to pay for a 20-year old game (plus the risk of the disc being scratched to hell), but I am surprised to see that the prices have come down so much. Radiant Dawn (Wii) is also down. Before you'd have to spend like $700+ at minimum to buy used copies of these two games, but now you can get them for like $300-$350 combined. Obviously still not cheap, but a hell of a lot better than it used to be.
I just hope that they also put Radiant Dawn on NSO. I'm not sure if they will with it being a Wii game instead of Gamecube, but man it'd suck to have the first game of the set made readily available on NSO and not the sequel.

Nintendo Switch 2 Games to be Priced Differently for Physical and Digital
Nintendo have announced that starting in May 2026, the pricing for physical Nintendo Switch 2 exclusives will be different to their digital counterparts.
Presumably it will be a $10 difference, as Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is $59.99 digitally versus $69.99 physically, but whether this is the case for all games remains to be seen.

A yes, $10 extra to get the empty game cartridge that only unlocks the download for the digital version of the game anyways.

Yeah, I like the idea of cheaper pricing for digital games but if that's going to be the case I definitely won't bother buying any physical games that are just the Game Key Cards like what Pokopia is. It's a shame this change isn't going to be retroactive at all because it would be nice to get Pokopia digitally for cheaper since I plan to buy it that way anyway.

If you don't remember what I'm talking about, back during the initial release there was fake news that the physical copies of Mario Kart World was gonna cost 90 bucks. Seems like it was just foreshadowing now. At least Nintendo lost its patents over the PalWorld lawsuit, so there is some justice left in the world.

Funny, I just mentioned not being able to justify the cost of a Switch 2 in the Nintendo Direct topic and now a price increase is coming, making it even harder to justify the purchase of the system.
At this point something astronomical would have to happen to get me to bite on a Switch 2, like a Skies of Arcadia remake that was going to be permanently Switch 2 exclusive.

Man the price increase sucks, but I shouldn't be too bothered really as there's zero games I even want for a Switch 2. I can maybe stretch to MKWorld but it's simply not enough, and I can see myself barely playing it anyway, making the Switch 2 sit idle until a game comes out that I may actually be excited for. No clue what that could be even.
Octopath Traveler 0 isn't restricted to only Switch 2 and that's probably the only game I have a little interest in, only a little because I have OTII to complete, even the first still as well.

Well, as a result of the price increase, they've lowered their projected sales figures for FY 2027:

They're expecting to sell 16.50 million in the next financial year (compared with 19.86 million in FY 2026), which is about a 17% drop, but still pretty healthy if it pans out.
(Though, since there's nothing I'd be interested in, I probably won't be one of those buyers!)

If anyone does have a slight inkling to buy a Switch 2 before the price increases come into effect, Nintendo announced a Choose Your Own Bundle deal a couple of days ago that lets you get a Switch 2 with a digital copy of either Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, or Pokémon Pokopia for $499.99. It seems to only be for the U.S. currently however.
My one gripe with this bundle deal is that picking anything but Mario Kart World results in a worse deal because that game is $10 more than the other two options. I know it's only $10 but it just bugs me a little.

Well I sadly doubt I'll be able to get the bundle deal at this point, but now I am wondering will I ever get a Switch 2? I would like too at some point cause I do like me some Nintendo games.
I wonder if they'll drop the price if the AI bubble burst as thing get cheaper to gain part for again?
