There almost certainly are games like that, but I'd have to go digging to find them. Edit: actually, I don't even have to dig very hard. On my Wishlist alone, there's Wild Arms, Wild Arms 2, and Legend of Dragoon that are available on PS4 that are not free for me, even though I already own all three on PS3! So yeah, I doubt those are the only ones. And yeah, that's the other problem of the PS3 backwards compatibility: no Memory Card slots, so any old data you may have had is useless. Even the Wii had Memory Card slots! Then again, the Wii was basically a supped-up Gamecube, so maybe that's why it could do that.

Oh, good! Good to know EA is still doing wonderful things with the studios it owns. Seriously, they already have Apex Legends -- a solid competitor to Fortnite -- but its just not making them a high enough profit margin, so they'll lay off hundreds of people. Screw off, EA! Guess I'm never getting my Titanfall 3, then!

Does EA even have a franchise that brings in more money consistently right now besides Apex? If not it seems like a shot in the foot to lay off so many people at the studio that works on the game. Errm

Just saw this trailer on YouTube which caught my attention purely from the thumbnail.

I wouldn't play this game but I can appreciate the aesthetic behind it. LOL

All I saw there was the paperclip from Microsoft Word but as a sword and not a paperclip. Though huh, someone made a game using the many basic games and such computers have for an....adventure I guess in a way.

So a new mobile game ad has been annoying me, and it did so sufficiently that I looked up what it was, and I CAN'T!

The game is Umamusume Pretty Derby. It is a multimedia franchise that is about anime girls that are simultaneously historic race horses and J-pop idols. It has a game (that was the 9th highest grossing game in 2021 in the world when it came out in Japan), an anime, a manga, and a STAGE PLAY! There is even a detail about accessories being on certain sides of the girl to tell you which sex the horse she's based off was! I can't wait for it to get out of pre-registration, because I NEED to know what is here!

@Maniakkid25: I went and looked up the game which took me to the official website, and just the brief sizzle reel footage at the top of the page was enough to entertain me. LOL

Apparently the solution to things that wouldn't have a ton of appeal in their vanilla form, such as horse racing, is to just swap in anime girls. ROFL

So someone thinks they are a memelord. About a month ago, Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing was released on Steam. If you've never heard of this game, it's one of the legendary bad games. The game honestly looks like it was started work on it 3 days before it shipped, and this isn't a cheap indie Steam release. No, this was a full boxed release on store shelves! It's impressively terrible, and words alone do not do it justice.

But before you go buying the game on Steam, know that you can download the full executable right now on the Internet Archive. For free. And that's where the most offensive part of this Steam release comes in. They had the GALL to release this for 6 bucks! 6 BUCKS?! I'm honestly impressed they managed to find a price where I'd say "that's a rip-off", but they managed it! Maybe if this was 99 cents, or even 2 dollars, I'd buy it for a lark, but 6 DOLLARS?! Screw off!

Damn, $6 for THAT? I just watched a video of it and heck that game is truly something else entirely, or rather nothing else entirely. An utter shambles of a "game", why did Steam even think of needing to add it to their store, attention for all the wrong reasons?

Well, keep in mind that the Steam storefront has no moderation. Any jackhole with $100 can just release a game onto Steam these days. That's why the store sees upwards of 50 (?!) releases PER DAY! No, I didn't make that up! Steam as a storefront is nothing short of a trash fire where indie devs get buried under asset flips and hacks, and it's been like this since basically the time of Steam Greenlight! It's absolutely incredible how Steam went from "You have to know someone to get on the store" to "Yeah, whatever dude, we don't care anymore" in such a short time span.

I remember hearing that someone was wanting to re-release Big Rigs onto Steam, then promptly forgot all about it. If anyone hasn't read it, Alex Navarro wrote an amazing review for it back in the day: https://www.gamespot.com/reviews/big-rigs-over-the-road-racing-review/1900-6086528/
Clearly whoever put it on Steam is just hoping people buy it for the lolz without knowing/thinking of the game having a free download available legally elsewhere. Until now I didn't know of that download existing nor had I seen anyone else mentioning it, so I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people are ignorant to it. Either way, it doesn't seem like the game has got the attention of a lot of people considering that Steam only has 337 reviews for the game. According to one review the AI was fixed, so I guess they at least did do something to the game because I was expecting it to just be a direct port with zero work done to it. Also people have given the game the "hentai" tag as well. Rolleyes

I've been intetested in playing this game for a while now, but the prices on the second-hand market are absolutely insane (100 bucks at the low end, though those prices are probably about to absolutely tank, now), and the PS3 emulation is...less than ideal, shall we say? It's bad, is what I'm trying to say. So, to see them reviving this game with a Remaster is a very pleasant surprise. Can't wait to get my grubby little mitts on it.

Oh, don't misunderstand. This is not a legal download. It's just that people upload things onto the Internet Archive for preservation reasons, and abandonware is one of them. They have an entire category dedication to the ROM compilations of various dead consoles, after all.

We've talked about this before with abandonware, and how its technically still piracy, but it won't stop people from Circulating the Tapes to make sure as many people as possible get to experience the thing in question. Copyright is just broken, however, and it sucks for the rest of us that have to live with that.

Ah. I'm surprised Internet Archive leaves that stuff up if it isn't legal, unless they just simply aren't aware of that files existence but even if they weren't, I'm surprised the people who put up the Steam version don't know about it to ask IA to take it down.

What doesn't help is that the entire games visual identity is heavily inspired/built off of this stuff, so a large part of Marathon's identity is just plagiarism. Glare

I already know the excuse that's going to be made if and when this goes viral. "That's a placeholder that we were going to replace when the game went live." Sure, right. I'm sure you would have replaced them if you didn't get caught. Just over a year after HBomberGuy's 4 hour epic on plagiarism, and people are still stupid enough to do it in places that are much higher stakes than a high schooler's book report. Fucking Hell...

I call bullshit because multiple employees at Bungie who are still there follow the artist who was plagiarized, including the art director and a notable number of art department employees. When this has happened before, the art director should be ensuring everything made is original by checking as such via requesting an editable file of any artwork with layers to make sure nothing is containing a pasted image from the internet.
