RE: The Movie Thread - Mr EliteL - Jul 26th, 2024 Man 20 years, geez. I was only 13, where'd it all go?! I am a fan of the Cornetto Trilogy, Shaun of the Dead was brilliant, Hot Fuzz I might say it slightly edges out as better but love them both, World's End is still good but not on the same league as the other two. When you included that image though underneath I was wondering, "wait they're not making an AI version of everyone looking older are they?" I didn't believe that but it made me think would someone actually do that to a film or anything live action? RE: The Movie Thread - Moonface - Jul 28th, 2024 (Jul 26th, 2024, 03:55 PM)Mr EliteL Wrote:If you mean would someone use AI to do that, I could see it. There's already been movies where actors get aged up or down using CG, and if AI were able to do it cheaper it would probably get used unless there's something in place that forbids it i.e. an agreement of not using AI to replace jobs. Using AI on an existing movie to just make everyone older though I can't see except for people on the internet doing it to brief clips for shits and giggles, but it probably wouldn't give a great result because even if you make everyone look and sound old they're still going to be moving the same way so you'd just end up with a bunch of incredibly fit 80 year old's running around bashing zombies on their way to the pub. I've never seen The World's End. Maybe some day I'll remember it exists for more than five seconds so I can actually watch it and finally say I've seen the entire trilogy. RE: The Movie Thread - ShiraNoMai - Jul 29th, 2024 The World's End was the only one I saw in theaters; the other two I barely have seen, but I know the parts I've seen are solid. I love the theaters bringing back some of these older movies as just reruns in the theaters and not as horrific remakes. Much better approach IMO RE: The Movie Thread - Moonface - Aug 25th, 2024 (Mar 22nd, 2024, 05:42 PM)Moonface Wrote:Saw this movie this afternoon at a 4pm showing that ended about an hour ago, and overall I'd say this is a good Alien movie that while playing things pretty safely does still do some new things that are really cool. Here's my positives and negatives for anyone curious without anything being spoiled: Positives

RE: The Movie Thread - Moonface - Sep 4th, 2024 So who else forgot there was going to be a Minecraft movie? I didn't get through the whole trailer yet, partly because I'm in class and partly because I didn't like what I was seeing and tapped out once that cursed sheep shows up. Like...this really needed to be an animated movie I feel rather than trying to do live action and putting this realistic texture work all over Minecraft that clashes horribly with the blocky shapes. RE: The Movie Thread | Minecraft Movie Trailer - ShiraNoMai - Sep 9th, 2024 Oops, they uploaded the wrong trailer! Here's the real one <_< RE: The Movie Thread | Minecraft Movie Trailer - Galra Keith - Sep 10th, 2024 Transformers One Looks good! RE: The Movie Thread | Minecraft Movie Trailer - ShiraNoMai - Sep 10th, 2024 ...you know I completely forgot they were making yet another Transformers movie. Well now that Linkin Park have reformed, it's now obligatory that they include a single for this film before it releases, which, wow I didn't realize was so soon. 10 days! RE: The Movie Thread | Minecraft Movie Trailer - Moonface - Sep 25th, 2024 Doubt I'll watch the movie but having just watched the trailer I appreciate the movie emulating the style of the toys and earlier animated TV shows instead of the hyper-detailed art style the Michael Bay movies went for. I know nothing about Transformers lore, but I will say at face value the plot element of "People get powers but one turns bad with it" is exceptionally cliche and doesn't really leave a lot of room to care/expect to learn more by watching the movie, especially when the trailer is saying "Learn how friends became enemies"; well, you're showing me they got powers and went in totally opposite directions from each other with it, so unless there's some twist (which I doubt) I think I already know how they became enemies. RE: The Movie Thread | Minecraft Movie Trailer - ShiraNoMai - Sep 26th, 2024 I really hate this trend of trailers that's just "here's a supercut of the entire movie". Like, why am I going to bother seeing it now, you just showed your whole hand RE: The Movie Thread | Minecraft Movie Trailer - Moonface - Sep 28th, 2024 Yeah, I hate trailers that do that, whether it be movies or games. I haven't seen one in forever but I remember back in the late 2000's I'd see a lot of trailers on TV for comedy movies and it quickly ruined that genre for me because the trailers would make the movies look really funny but then every time I'd watch the movie I'd discover that every funny moment was just in the trailer. I mean I guess it was a good thing though because the movies were all shit anyway and it stopped me bothering to seek them out? Apparently the last trailer for Alien Romulus before that movie came out was rife with spoilers too but I haven't actually checked it out to see how bad it really is because I forgot about it until I was writing this. RE: The Movie Thread | Minecraft Movie Trailer - Maniakkid25 - Sep 28th, 2024 *cough* Quarantine *cough* I don't know, I think I'd rather that than trailers that straight up lie to you. Anybody remember Suicide Squad? The bad one? The trailers for that movie prominently feature Jared Leto's Joker, only for him to have, like, 3 scenes and be utterly inconsequential to the plot. It's almost funny how much it lied. RE: The Movie Thread | Minecraft Movie Trailer - Moonface - Sep 28th, 2024 (Sep 28th, 2024, 08:40 PM)Maniakkid25 Wrote:I can't remember if I watched any trailers for that movie, but yeah if I had to choose between a false trailer or a spoiler filled one I'd rather pick the latter because at least if I still want to watch the movie I know I'm getting what I'm being advertised instead of expecting a movie to give me something that doesn't exist. I'm curious though how you feel about trailers where they mislead to hide a story element like how Metal Gear Solid 2 gave no indication up front you'd spend most of the game as Raiden? RE: The Movie Thread | Minecraft Movie Trailer - Maniakkid25 - Sep 28th, 2024 Quarantine's spoilers were so bad, the ending of the movie was the actual theatrical poster. No joke, it was absurd. Again, I'd rather have the spoiler filled one than the one that lies to me. If you have to lie to be like "hur hur, it's a plot twist!", then you probably had a shit plot to begin with. And the Metal Gear series is notoriously ridiculous; give me a trailer where Raiden is sprinting around the base naked, because that's actually part of the game, dang it! (Sep 28th, 2024, 09:42 PM)Maniakkid25 Wrote:For me I guess it depends on if the lie is to avoid spoiling something that can't be avoided, which MGS2 couldn't do unless it wanted to just give away that something happens to Snake early when you start the game as him if all the marketing was of Raiden. To give an example from something that isn't crazy like MGS is, The Last of Us Part 2 placed Joel into trailer scenes that he isn't present in in the final game so as to make players unable to know he dies in the games opening act and make it a more shocking moment. Plenty of people thought Joel would die and that was what the revenge angle was gonna be about, then doubted it after seeing him in later scenes in the game during trailers. On the flip side, Dina was rarely shown outside of early game moments which made me learn of the term "women in refrigerators" because it led people to think she was the one who dies in the early game. Funnily enough she's the only person in the entire game who doesn't come out of it at the end dead or just physically worse off. |
