RE: Notable/Celebrity Deaths - ShiraNoMai - Jul 8th, 2022 It's so unfortunate. Can't believe it. I saw this tweet earlier of his foreword in the last volume of YGO and damn, it really makes ya sad: RE: Notable/Celebrity Deaths - Moonface - Jul 9th, 2022 I wasn't aware the manga had ended. I thought it was still going because of how stuff is still made for YGO. It's nice to see an afterword by a manga author about what they wanted to achieve with their work and share their feelings on the world in some way. I feel like that doesn't happen often since I've never really seen it in any other manga I've read. RE: Notable/Celebrity Deaths - ShiraNoMai - Jul 10th, 2022 Oh, this is in reference to the OG manga that Kazuki personally drew himself. All the other parts of the series (GX, 5Ds, Zexal, etc) were done by different mangaka. His manga ended in 2004 (and is noted on this statement in the tweet with the date) But yeah, it's still pretty poignant all things considered. I hope he realized how much his concept has moved on and touched so many generations of folks since his initial conception/manga run. RE: Notable/Celebrity Deaths - Karo - Jul 10th, 2022 It really is sad I really did enjoy Yugioh! Though I'm going to be honest I think the newer versions have turned the game into this crazed thing like.....I tried the YuGiOh TCG on steam and....my god it basically let you set up to win on the first turn if you can believe it and I'm like.......huh? I think it works best without all the bizarre rules and summoning that the later series added. I'm shocked she had cancer for so long because I also didn't know you could have cancer for that long. RIP. RE: Notable/Celebrity Deaths - Moonface - Sep 7th, 2022 I don't know who else here heard of or followed this adorable little bastard but this one is the first to hurt for me in a while when it comes to deaths of notable people, or in this case a notable cat: RE: Notable/Celebrity Deaths - Mr EliteL - Sep 8th, 2022 I didn't follow but damn, such a floofy white boi. Sad hear a popular kitty's gone though. In other news, The Queen is in bad shape and her family has gone to see her, which seems very serious as if she was simply unwell they wouldn't be all travelling to where she is. Still I won't be surprised, been a lot of her being up and down recently. RE: Notable/Celebrity Deaths - Moonface - Sep 8th, 2022 Likely not surprising to see but the Queen has passed away at the age of 96. RE: Notable/Celebrity Deaths - Mr EliteL - Sep 8th, 2022 That title. Anyway, RIP our Queen, 96 long years and what they have been. RE: Notable/Celebrity Deaths - Moonface - Sep 8th, 2022 I'm curious what time she actually passed, since I know BBC are the first to announce it and they also get told before they have the clearance to announce it so they can get everything in place for Operation London Bridge. Apparently Charles is taking over as King, although given his age and the state of him I wonder how long he'll actually hold that for before he inevitably passes away. I get the feeling it won't be notably long. RE: Notable/Celebrity Deaths - Mr EliteL - Sep 8th, 2022 Probably the last one or two hours or so, I know the news were saying how the family were still travelling earlier and not say they're there right now with her, she probably tried stay long enough to see all who were coming. They announce the news via a board or whatever on the gates of Buckingham Palace, something like that. I wasn't paying attention, and just heard my mum scream downstairs about it, I was down there a few moments before and the news were still blabbering on about people outside and what have you. For King Charles, I'd give him 10, possibly more at best if he can last that long. I would think it be better to hold the position for a while and get William prepared then pass on the torch to him and not hold it until Charles dies, but eh, probably will end up like that. Then again if it gets passed on too quickly, all of a sudden George could be King if William passes from something way too early, so yeah I dunno. RE: Notable/Celebrity Deaths - Maniakkid25 - Sep 8th, 2022 Apparently, there was a errant tweet at 10-ish EDT (1500 BST) that reported her death ahead of official sources, and only three hours earlier it was reported there was concern for her health, so we can assume it was within that time frame that she died. All this and more on the wikipedia page specifically on her death. This is...holy fuck. My father was born in 1958; he's never known a world without the Queen in power, and to see it happen so suddenly is...wow. The Queen is dead; long live the King... Even my grandparents were all born after she was and out of the four of them only one has outlived the Queen. RE: Notable/Celebrity Deaths - ShiraNoMai - Sep 11th, 2022 What a horrible tragedy. A long-standing reign over the people of the world, bringing joy to many and treated like the royalty they were. RIP our king, Thurston Waffles. |
