RE: State of Play Megathread | June 4 SoP Announced - Dragon Lord - Sep 27th, 2025 No Bloodborne remaster/remake announcement again?!?!
RE: State of Play Megathread | June 4 SoP Announced - Mr EliteL - Sep 30th, 2025 Ended up watching bits of SoP after it aired and skimmed through to find anything noteworthy for myself. Only two really, being Code Vein 2 and Sonic Racing. Can't get hyped on Code Vein 2 yet, I was mainly drawn to the characters in the previous games, and none of them have appeared. Not sure when this one is set, could be a prequel...which really wouldn't want. Sure the gameplay was great to me too, but what I saw hasn't gripped me yet For Sonic Racing I thanked the heavens the last DLC pack was revealed to be Megaman and not Fortnite. Phew. They're just scrapping the story/setting of the first game and pretty much just starting over with a brand new world/story in Code Vein 2. Not sure if it's because they regretted connecting Code Vein to God Eater or what, but yeah, nothing in the first game matters now. RE: State of Play Megathread | June 4 SoP Announced - Mr EliteL - Oct 2nd, 2025 Aw dang really? I suppose I'll just cherish the Code Vein I have, starting from scratch but just calling it "Code Vein 2" now seems kinda lazy. Needs a subtitle instead or as well as at least. I checked out a trailer for the Ultimate Edition and the only ties it has to the first game is being able to customise your character as Louis, Yakumo, Jack, Io, Mia or Eva and that's it. If they release a demo before the main release I'll be willing to see and may change my mind, I know pre-orders get access three days early but that's not enough I don't want to pre-order to try it out. Though the disappointment of the lack of continuation will still sour it for me. I can't even think of a game that just opted to start over like that with its first sequel unless there was such a long gap between releases that it made sense to do it.
RE: State of Play Megathread | June 4 SoP Announced - Dragon Lord - Oct 9th, 2025 Yeah, it's a really odd decision and a lot of people don't seem to be too happy with it. Personally I hated that they tied the first game to God Eater, because it just made it feel like they didn't believe in their game enough for it to stand on their own, and they felt they had to tie it to one of their already developed series. I am kind of glad that Code Vein 2 will reboot the story to be its own thing, but it does suck that everything from the first game is just... gone. None of the characters will appear, there likely won't be any reference to anything or anyone from the first game. They probably should have just made this into a new series with a different name than trying to make it a continuation of Code Vein that doesn't actually continue anything about Code Vein. I'm not too surprised about it with Bandai Namco though, they have just gotten lazier and lazier over the years and just pump out a lot of low effort games now days. Slapping "Code Vein 2" on a game that isn't anything like Code Vein (outside of being Souls-like) will get more sales than a game with a new name. RE: State of Play Megathread | June 4 SoP Announced - Moonface - Nov 10th, 2025 State of Play Japan Announced for Nov. 11 A new State of Play will be airing tomorrow, Tuesday November 11, focusing on games from Japan and across Asia, alongside "a few other exciting updates". It will be presented and voiced by Yuki Kaji entirely in Japanese with English subtitles. This special State of Play will run for approximately 40 minutes, and airs at 2pm PT / 5pm ET / 10pm GMT. Interesting to see a SoP focused on games from a specific region, although I do find it odd Sony dubbed it with Japan when it's going to be covering games from other places too. Then again thinking on it as I type this, dubbing it as SoP Asia might risk rubbing people in that region the wrong way by having the whole thing in Japanese with a Japanese VA when the title would imply it isn't giving focus to one particular Asian country over another. No idea what to really expect but I'm sure RE9 will show up. I know Nightreign is apparently going to get a DLC at some point so maybe that'll appear given that FromSoft were the ones who mentioned the DLC just this past week. RE: State of Play Megathread | June 4 SoP Announced - Dragon Lord - Nov 10th, 2025 I don't think so, because it would have been really polarizing since the two games play complete differently. God Eater is a Monster Hunter-like series while Code Vein is a Souls-like game. While they are both action games, the styles are vastly different. I think trying to continue to criss-cross the two games would have made things really confusing for people who only played Code Vein. If they released a God Eater 4 and had it tied heavily into the story/characters of Code Vein, people who never played GE before would buy it thinking it is going to play like Code Vein and be extremely disappointed/annoyed when they get a Monster Hunter style game. Maybe that's something they also saw coming and that's why they cut Code Vein II from the cloth of the first game and made it completely separate, which is probably a smart thing to do overall for the continuation of the series. When the reveal came in the first Code Vein that it was in the God Eater universe, it just didn't feel like a very good story twist and felt like they only did it because they didn't have enough faith in Code Vein to stand on its own, and wanted to tie it to a series they already had that was somewhat popular. As for the SoP Japan... surely Bloodborne Remaster this time. Surely. RE: State of Play Megathread | June 4 SoP Announced - queenzelda - Nov 11th, 2025 Oh look another State of Play to ignore. *yawn* Usually it's a good state of play whenever a new jrpg is announced, but I haven't seen one in a long arse time. <_< Still, it might be decent but for me its always boring. *shrugs* RE: State of Play Megathread | June 4 SoP Announced - Moonface - Nov 11th, 2025 (Nov 11th, 2025, 03:02 AM)queenzelda Wrote:I would say that a JRPG showing up is a given since this is a Japanese/Asian focused SoP, but it's a SoP so it wouldn't shock me if one didn't show up.

RE: State of Play Megathread | June 4 SoP Announced - Dragon Lord - Nov 13th, 2025 Once again, mostly things we already knew about with very little actually being new announcements. Really hate how State of Plays do this. Plus WAY too much time spent on that Marvel game (which SoP does every time there is a Marvel game, it's so annoying). No need for Octopath Traveler 0 to be here. Could have just announced the demo via social media and called it a day. Same thing with Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, it really didn't need to be here. So much time wasted on DLC announcements. Wandering Sword coming to PS5 is cool, but don't really feel like it should have been in a SoP for the announcement. Never Grave was probably the most interesting looking game of the SoP. Can never have enough 2D action games and the art style reminds me a lot of the Ender games, which are amazing. The fact that it has 2-4 player online multiplayer has me already thinking about which friends of mine that I can force convince into playing the game with me As a Disgaea fan, Kyouran Makaism really interests me, though I don't know how well Disgaea is going to translate into a spin-off action RPG, but hey, I love Disgaea enough to give it a chance. But yeah, overall another crap SoP. 2/10 -- one point for Never Grave and a second point for Kyouran Makaism. |
