RE: Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase - June 12, 2022 - Karo - Jun 12th, 2022

Persona 3 Portable & Persona 5 Royal for PC my day has finally come! This is the best news of the entire showcase I don't care about anything else Xbox has won the game show for E3 season! Congratulations!

RE: Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase - June 12, 2022 - Moonface - Jun 12th, 2022

I don't know why, but despite the presentation being solid with practically zero down time, there were a lot of games here that just left me feeling nothing. Even when a game isn't something I would play I can sometimes find something neat or interesting about them, but for this showcase I didn't get that. Unsure

That aside, a few games in here caught my eye. The Last Case of Benedict Fox and Cocoon look neat, but the big one for me in this was Silksong finally showing its face again. I'd seen rumours that it was going to be here as an Xbox Game Pass announcement but I just wrote it off as copium because of the track record that game has for no-showing. XD

Starfield has potential, but no one in their right mind would trust Todd Howard without seeing the final product out in the wild. Tongue

RE: Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase - June 12, 2022 - Karo - Jun 12th, 2022

Just saw that Overwatch 2 is going to be free to play.......I wonder if that going to be a shitshow with Blizzard anything is possible as one big final fuck you as they get consumed by Microsoft....and stay the worst. XD

RE: Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase - June 12, 2022 - Mr EliteL - Jun 12th, 2022

Not interested in any of the games shown really, also lack of a HUD when gameplay was shown for many of them was disheartening. I suppose that's the next trend or something for new games. Anyway, was good to see Persona to show up for Xbox and PC I guess, and Kojima has a game coming. The Last Case of Benedict Fox one was the most promising though.

RE: Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase - June 12, 2022 - Dragon Lord - Jun 13th, 2022

Lmao. Imagine being such a fuckup of a publisher that you give Xbox ports of Persona games before the Switch, and then being the shitshow that you are, you also give them exclusively to Xbox.

We all thought you guys were actually pulling your heads out of your asses when you ported P4G to Steam, but apparently you just shoved them so much further up there. Giving a long awaited P3 port to the one system where JRPGs go to die.

RE: Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase - June 12, 2022 - Maniakkid25 - Jun 13th, 2022

You do realize that that statement is just wrong, right? Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata, and Tales of Vesperia were all Xbox 360 exclusives at first, and they all THRIVED to the point of getting sequels and ports to more consoles (Blue Dragon had two sequels on the DS, Eternal Sonata got an enhanced port to the PS3, and Tales of Vesperia has been re-releases several times). If you were correct about the Xbox being "where JRPGs go to die", then Star Ocean, Tales, and Dragon Quest should all be dead series by now, and not the thriving blockbusters they still are!

RE: Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase - June 12, 2022 - Dragon Lord - Jun 13th, 2022

The fact that you think Star Ocean: The Last Hope and Tales of Versperia (a glorified BETA version on 360) "thrived" to the point of getting enhanced PS3 version, then that's just... well, kind of sad, really.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope International (PS3) sold more than double the 360 version (which was riddled with bugs and prone to complete system freezes) and Tales of Vesperia PS3 sold almost four times more in Japan than the 360 version, and despite being in Japan only, sold over 50% of what the 360 version sold worldwide. If the PS3 version had been released worldwide, it would have absolutely slaughtered the 360 version by a huge margin.

Eternal Sonata bombed so hard on Xbox that they probably thought they could save it with a PS3 release, only for that to bomb too, but at least it did outsell the 360 version, yet again.

They didn't release the PS3 versions because the 360 versions were such successes, they made them because the 360 versions bombed in Japan and barely did any better outside of it, and they needed to do something to save those games. Thinking any else is just inhaling copium at the most extreme levels lmao.

RE: Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase - June 12, 2022 - queenzelda - Jun 13th, 2022

Personally I really liked the look of Ravenlok, kinda thought it was part 3 to Alice Madness Returns cause of how it looked. Sign me up. Everything else I was kinda meh with. Persona P3 on the Xbox was kinda out of nowhere, but I have it for the PS2 which I can play since mine still works, but whatever. XD

Was it stated the games are only going to Xbox? From what I saw the games are all going to Steam and PS5 too, so the only platform that lacks the games now is Switch. Glass half full, perhaps the announcement for that platform is being held for a Direct. If the first release is P5R is October, there's still a while to make more platform announcements.

Seeing you say that I forgot that I thought that game looked a lot like a trippy Alice in Wonderland too. XD

If that were true, wouldn't the better answer be to cut your losses and just give up on any ports? The only situation I know of where a flop was deemed worth it to dump more money into was Sleeping Dogs.

Honestly, why do you have this grudge against Xbox consoles? What did they do to you to make you hate them with every fiber of your being?

Also, yes Moony, they did announce that the ports are coming to PS5 and Steam, but they announced it SEPARATE to the Xbox announcement, hence the confusion.

RE: Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase - June 12, 2022 - Dragon Lord - Jun 13th, 2022

@Moonface At the time it was, but it's now been officially announced that the ports are coming to PlayStation 5 and Steam as well, so Atlus isn't completely stupid -- just mostly stupid. Lack of Switch ports is still absolutely baffling, especially considering that the VN style of P3P was made for a handheld and would be right at home on the Switch.

But 2/3 platforms that are actually relevant isn't too bad for Atlus, I suppose.

RE: Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase - June 12, 2022 - ShiraNoMai - Jun 15th, 2022

It's no secret Xbox has continuously performed abysmally in Japan. That said, seeing Xbox actively trying to breach their negatory market of Japan is honestly a smart effort. Why continually ignore the one market where you've always failed? Bring your research, your sociology, and market it properly. Rebrand, try again. I think they can do it. This is another good step in that direction. It aligns with Xbox's modern philosophy of making games accessible to everyone, and I find that super neat. Smile

RE: Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase - June 12, 2022 - Dragon Lord - Jun 16th, 2022

Is it really smart when it'll never be successful though? Japanese people tend to only support Japanese companies to begin with, so that puts Xbox in a huge hole to start with. Throw on top that console gaming in Japan is on a major decline with mobile gaming being #1 and the Switch being #2 (again, for the mobility). Even Sony has struggled to find as much success in Japan in the wake of mobile gaming's takeover and the Switch.

Unless Microsoft plans to put Game Pass on mobile devices/Switch, they are not going to find any success in Japan. The console market is just on a continued decline over there and there's really no end in sight of it. That's a major reason why Sony moved the PlayStation division to the United States and have focused much heavier on their marketing in the West.
