WHERE IN THE WORLD #20

It's time to figure out where in the world I am once again! Grin

How It Works
  • You only need to name the country in most cases. Guesses that involve areas such as the USA as the answer will require a state as well due to their large size.

  • Sometimes I might be located on an island, or another location that is not itself a country nor within an actual country. If that location is not a country, then I will treat that location as being the country to which it belongs to as a territory. So if I am located on an island that is a territory of Spain, then Spain will be its country. However, in instances like this, the correct answer can also be the exact territory name if that is given before the name of the country that territory belongs to.

  • Although this is a team based effort when it comes to narrowing down the answer, you will naturally get more points if you assist more in narrowing down the answer.

  • Each participant may ask two yes/no questions to narrow down the country per day; however guessing the country/territory/US state itself by name has no limit. Guessing the country/territory incorrectly will not reward points though, due to the fact it has unlimited tries.

  • Asking a yes/no question that results in an answer that notably gets closer to the destination will reward you with 2 points. A yes/no question that results in an answer that does not notably narrow down the answer will reward you with 1 point. Finding the correct country will reward you with 3 points. As an example, if you asked me "Are you located in the continent of Africa?" and I tell you no, that would be worth 1 point because there are still six continents I could be located on. If I were on that continent though, you would have notably narrowed down the answer to get 2 points.

  • I may make adjustments to the game if necessary. Furthermore, if you have suggestions for this game at all I welcome you to share it. Smile

Here's the photo I took when I arrived at my new location! Where am I?

Is your country in the Americas (i.e. the continents, not the country)?

*had to look up where I actually am because I forgot*

Anyway, I am not in the Americas.

Are you in Europe?

Hmm, a place that has that river nearby and likes to copy & paste buildings plus quite a flat area...hmmm....

Does the Danube River run through the country?

No. Interesting question though since I didn't know about that river. Hmm

Is the country you are in currently a member of the EU?

RE: Where in the World #20 - Mr EliteL - May 29th, 2023

I'm using a Europe map, I sure as hell don't know the names of rivers off the top of my head, so I got to study a map to try and get guess from there. XD

Is the country close to the Baltic Sea?

Are you in Russia? Specifically, Kaliningrad, the small territory that sits right on top of Poland?

I don't believe it's in that particular territory but the location is in Russia which counts enough for the victory! Grin

The exact location of the image is this:
Пермская улица 15, Nizhnevartovsk, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra, Russia, 628624

Maybe it's somewhere interesting but I have no idea. Tongue

RE: Where in the World #20 - Mr EliteL - May 30th, 2023

Dang, had my eye on Kaliningrad for a while but wanted to eliminate other areas first to get closer to that but the Okrug place wasn't on the map I used, although it was more inside Russia than to the left side which is where the map I was using for Europe cut off, Moscow was the last city on the edge. XD Ah well we got there.

The question asked about whether I was in Europe was tough because Russia falls into both that and Asia due to its size, and might actually be the only country that falls across two different regions like that but I don't know for sure. Hmm

RE: Where in the World #20 - Maniakkid25 - May 31st, 2023

That is the exact reason why I prefer asking questions like "Does the country have territory in X?" It removes the ambiguity. Also, was surprised to find that Urga is not in fact apart of Kaliningrad/Konigsberg (the situation is a whole thing in geopolitics), but it is technically close to the Baltic, so I guess that fits. I figured it was in Kaliningrad because I thought that was the only territory that Russia had that bordered the Baltic, completely forgetting that St. Petersburg exists lol
