Games Cause Violence; What Are You Getting Arrested For? - Moonface - Apr 3rd, 2024

Inspired by this meme I've seen making the rounds the last few weeks:

It doesn't have to be based solely on your last game played, just so nobody has to feel limited if they get an idea for something they can be arrested for doing in another game. Tongue

The Binding of Isaac
Killing my own mother with repeated knife stabs to the ankle/foot. (Just did a daily run where the goal was to beat Mom's Foot and my build had Mom's Knife equipped.)

Eternal Sonata
Drug trafficking with a pinch of insurrection
(One of the major items in the game is mineral powder, which cures most illnesses, but turns people into rampaging magical psychopaths when used too much. Oh, and one of the cities in the kingdom is rebelling against the Count.)

Tomb Raider III
The better question here is what do you do that wouldn't get you arrested? Almost every level of the game involves doing acts that are not what would be associated with a protagonist:
  • Escaping legal imprisonment in a high security compound by killing all of the guards and releasing other inmates to help you do it.
  • Sneaking into Area 51 in the back of a truck.
  • Killing all of the guards in Area 51.
  • Launching a ballistic missile/rocket from a silo in Area 51 just to retrieve a keycard.
  • Witnessing highly classified government secrets and technology and stealing one of them.
  • Killing guards at a water control station in London.
  • Breaking into the British Museum.
  • Killing the guards in the British Museum.
  • Stealing an item from the British Museum.
  • Killing the natives after trespassing onto their land in the South Pacific.
  • Taking a sacred artifact from said tribe after killing their leader.
  • Shooting a helicopter pilot to escape in said helicopter.
I'm sure there's stuff I've still missed. Almost everybody you kill in TR3 is innocent, and when you're not killing those people you're either breaking into places, breaking out of prison, or stealing things in cold blood. It's almost impressive how Lara's character was never universally hated for the amount of heinous shit she pulls in this game.

Dragon Quest XI S
Getting out of jail with a thief who dug himself out of jail.
Stealing the red jewel that was returned to the kingdom.
Being deemed: the Dark Spawn who will bring everything to its end.

I don't know what the circumstances are that led to this jewel being missing for it to be returned in the first place, but in my mind I'm imagining the jewel got stolen, returned, and then the player just comes along and steals it again. LOL
Bonus inept points if the kingdom took zero extra measures to protect that jewel after it was returned so it didn't go missing again.

Dragon's Dogma 2

Illegally entering Battahl as I avoided the gate to enter the region as I had no permit and went an alternate route, I was getting away with it but nobody seemed to mind too much until now, darn it.

EDIT: How'd I manage to type "hate" instead of "had"?

Since the last game I played was FTL: Faster than Light, I guess I'm getting arrested for blowing up spaceships Tongue .

Stardew Valley:
There's not exactly crimes to commit in this game but if I had to commit one cardinal sin, I would drink a jar of Mayonnaise.

The last game I played was Railgrade, so I guess I ran someone over with a train?

Now I'm curious if there's something you can do to the traffic vehicles in that game that tops using this thing to yeet cars into the air in Midnight Club 1... Hmm

Nah, you just are able to run over pedestrians. The other racers will even comment on it sometimes. My favorite is from Hector: "There is no killing on my turf! Unless I okay it, first!" (7:59, if the link doesn't autoplay it)

Since it was FTL, and I've already been arrested for blowing up spaceships, I guess this time I'm getting arrested for boarding a spaceship and killing all its crew Tongue .

Oh that game added pedestrians? Why? That seems like such an unnecessary thing to add. Huh

@Kyng: Sounds to me like you should blow up that ship too so there's absolutely no evidence left behind to use against you. Whistle

Yoshi's Island
Child trafficking (Baby Mario) along with assault on a minor (Bowser Jr.). Whistle

Dragon's Dogma 2 (again)

Assault on a Battahlian soldier who seems to continuously break in and enters my humble abode, the stupid twonk.
Even when he encounters me he goes "What are you doing here?" so I've taken to picking up this NPC, remove him from my home then throw or drop him away which has caused the NPC to spew some blood on some instances though there is no reaction from it. A suitable alternative to outright murdering the guy inside the home anyway. XD
