Puzzmo (Mini Games) - ShiraNoMai - Jun 26th, 2024

Imagine if your newsprints featured fun, interactable puzzles that were more than just the daily crossword.

Puzzmo is a fresh spin on a cultural mainstay: the newspaper games page!

Their daily games are designed for all players: they’re easy to get into, yet challenging to excel at. Puzzmo is built for you to play alone, collaboratively with your friends or loved ones… or competitively against your frenemies.

Puzzmo features a variety of games:
SpellTower, a word game of opportunity creation
Really Bad Chess, a sacrilegious take on chess that forgoes the traditional starting pieces
Flipart, a visual puzzle inspired by organizing a sock-drawer
Cross|word, an approachable crossword designed to appeal to first time solvers and lifelong aficionados alike.

...and more!

They've recently added "Pile-Up Poker" which is a neat little poker-style game where you try and make poker hands in a 4x4 grid, where columns, rows and the four corners all make hands!

Post your scores if you wish per game! I'd like to see how we all fare up against each other on the dailies Tongue

RE: Puzzmo (Mini Games) - Moonface - Jun 26th, 2024

I always forget this site exists and then once in a blue moon will actually go on it and play something, enjoy it, and then promptly forget the following day it ever happened for a few months. ROFL

Anyway, went on it today after seeing you playing a card game on there called Pile-Up Poker, and these were my three scores for today's one (#254):
  1. $1640
  2. $1900
  3. $4200
Also did Flipart #254 and got it in 24 rotations for a score of 2257.

RE: Puzzmo (Mini Games) - ShiraNoMai - Jun 29th, 2024

I remembered mostly cuz Shoujo starts her stream doing the crossword so I used to go out of my way to complete it before she starts her stream at 1PM and I wouldn't be spoiled for answers. Now the habit is just engrained ROFL

I've gotten fairly decent at the Flipart lately (completing in the minimum number of rotations and as fast as possible), though today I hecked up one rotation so I had to do 4 extra spins to get it back in place, and it took a little longer cuz it was an odd puzzle today where some of the pieces were overlayed in weird ways cuz of their shapes.  Angry

RE: Puzzmo (Mini Games) - Moonface - Jun 30th, 2024

Decided to make an account although I don't know what it gets me yet. LOL

Pile-Up Poker #259
  1. $4600
  2. $2450
  3. $3150
  4. $1360
Oof, that last hand was really bad. I kept trying to set up hands and then just didn't get the cards I was hoping for. Sad

Flipart #259
  • Score: 3030

  • Time: 50 seconds

Did the Typeshift as well, but can't say I really like this game. Once it comes down to a few letters left I just find it tedious trying to figure out what stupid word I've missed.

Pile-Up Poker #269

Never done SpellTower before; it's pretty neat. I like the added factor of planning out where to get letters to drop to try and get something into a spot you can work with. I definitely like it better than Typeshift.

RE: Puzzmo (Mini Games) - ShiraNoMai - Jul 11th, 2024

I love Typeshift, if only for that challenge of finding ONLY the core words (meaning, avoid making other words while trying to figure out what the core words are). It's SO satisfying figuring out the puzzle of "what are the words they want me to get here?" and getting a perfect score that way.

Although I'll never understand the people who manage to figure it out in 3 seconds. There's just no way you can figure it out in such little time Errm

Eh, I'll give it another shot and see how I feel about it, although I doubt this information is going to help me at all. Tongue

Hmm, well either it was a fluke or that information actually did make it easier this time around. Guess I'll just see how many more of these I can do before I lose my patience with them again. XD

Realized that sometimes letters don't always get removed around the ones you use and so you can make extra words before making one that does remove surrounding letters to try and get more points. Not that it helped me get a good score here though...

RE: Puzzmo (Mini Games) - ShiraNoMai - Jul 16th, 2024

Yeah sometimes the play looks promising at the start of a Pile-Up round but then you get such shit pulls it ruins the whole lot lol I had a lot of bad hands today, too

Pile-Up Poker #275 - Best Hand:

Yesterday's one was so good; today's was riddled with some weird hinting. The one I needed a hint for was "Fisher in films" cuz I truly had no idea there was another actress out there with that last name.

Dang, never noticed until now you can get points from the discard hand if you get 8 hands on the board, which is what led me to getting such a high score on my third attempt today without realizing why until after the fact.

Ah yeah, the discard pile can be part of a strat, too. There's SO many things you gotta factor in with card choice and placement in that game lol

This one wasn't too bad at all. I was stuck on the very last two letters I needed so I hinted (for the clue for 14D: Trim (down), which wound up being a word I wouldn't exactly associate with trimming down, but oh well)

@ShiraNoMai: MonoArt is one of the premium games right? How does it work, since I can't play it to discover for myself.

I really wish Puzzmo would let you just replay any of the games for fun after you've played it for your daily score. I'd love to keep playing Pile-Up Poker beyond the 4 rounds (or 5 if I paid for a sub) I can get daily. Eh

RE: Puzzmo (Mini Games) - ShiraNoMai - Jul 29th, 2024

If you use paid, you can access all the Pile-Up Pokers ever made since it was invented earlier this year. It's a great feature if you ever feel like diving in for more.

Puzzmo #287 (July 28, 2024):

FlipArt:

Made one rotation error, which cost me the perfect score (cuz I'd need to rotate a full 360 to get back to original position, so that's 4 extra rotates than necessary)
