Cartoon Shows on TV - queenzelda - Jul 25th, 2018

I remember as a youngster watching Vultron Defender of the Universe, along with He-Man Master of the universe, She-Ra Princess of Power, Jem & the Holograms, Thundercats, DiC's The REAL Ghostbusters (based off the movie version), the other Ghostbusters show done by Filmation, I belive there was also a Scooby Doo variyation show by Filmation as well but I never watched it. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Super Mario Super Show, The Legend of Zelda cartoon "Well EXUSEEEEE ME Princess." And so much more. What shows do you remember watching while growing up??

I think I've seen that on dvd at the dollar store, no seriously. But, the animation reminds me a lot of Babar: King of the Elephants tbh.

That show was deemed illegal in the US due to it being part of a contest show in Japan.

I'd be very surprised if you had heard about it.

Maybe for OTA broadcast but I can't see it being truely banned in the US due to the 1st Amendment.

Also talk about horrible dubs Whistle

Ah, cartoons. Always a joy when a child, and as an adult. Although more for the old shows I used to watch. I've forgotten most episodes, but will remember them and know I've seen them if I happen to watch one. Probably going to forget most but here's some I grew up with, or from my teen years too. Not including what I mentioned in the Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon (actually for the sake of it I'll include them a the bottom). In no particular order:
  • Early The Simpsons (Seasons 1-15, 15 is a rough estimate, I've seen odd episodes beyond that season)
  • Looney Tunes (from some early stuff to Golden Age to 90's, but doubt I've seen everything)
  • Tom & Jerry, Tom & Jerry Kids, Comedy Show
  • Scooby-Doo (Original series, What's New Scooby-Doo?!, *sigh* & Scrappy-Doo)
  • Woody Woodpecker (unsure of when exactly)
  • Dennis the Menace (1996 series)
  • Mona the Vampire
  • Clifford the Big Red Dog
  • Fairly Odd Parents (forgot to include this in the other topics, early series to no idea when, wasn't for too long though)
  • Ren and Stimpy (same as above)
  • Super Mario Bros Super Show, Super Mario Bros. 3 cartoon (dvd only, one each plus episodes I've seen on YouTube which includes World or whatever one Yoshi appears in)
  • Sonic Underground (1 dvd worth)
  • Skunk-Fu
  • Futurama (Seasons 1-4)
  • American Dad (Seasons 1-5)
  • Family Guy (odd episodes)
  • Animaniacs
  • Wacky Races
  • Arthur
  • Superhero TV Shows (Batman: The Animated Series, can't remember what else but includes Marvel)
  • The Mask Animated Series (I know it should be included with above, but don't care)
  • Ace Ventura Animated Series
  • Pink Panther
  • Pokémon (Kanto to Hoenn, stopped some time in Hoenn possibly)
  • Digimon (Original, second series, Frontier)
  • Rugrats
  • Recess
  • The Wild Thornberrys
  • Dexter's Laboratory
  • Sabrina the Teenage Witch
  • Hercules
  • Johnny Bravo
  • Cow and Chicken
  • Foster's Home For Imaginary Kids
  • Hey Arnold!
Probably more, too many to remember. Including Pokémon and Digimon as I watched them before I knew anime was a thing, except Frontier.

It was one of my favorites. Dogbert's secret recording on Dilbert's struggles to find the soap on the bathtub will live in my memory forever.

How bout Code Monkeys?

RE: Cartoon shows on tv - Hotspot - Aug 5th, 2018

I watched all the Nick and Cartoon Network shows from the 90's. Such as Doug, Hey Arnold, Cow and Chicken. etc... I was also really into the Saturday night cartoons that they used to have on CW, Fox, and I think another network. I also kind of liked the Winx Club.

My favorites were Rugrats and Kids Next Door. For older themed shows that I liked, were Code Lyoko, and Totally Spies.. which are both made by French creators.. Like aside from America, Europe and Japan, the French make some awesome shows and games too.

I also watched the anime on Toonami! Tenchi Muyo was my favorite anime for a long time. Some of the anime I used to watch were Zatch Bell, Yu Yu Hakusho (Which they changed to a 5 am timeslot that I was unaware of, so I never finished the series because I didn't know they moved to 5 am!), MAR, Bobobo-bobo-bobo, and plenty of others.

I also really liked Teen Titans (I'm excited for the live action version they're making, and if the new cartoon TT series does well, they'll reboot the old Teen Titans!)

Even though Avatar: The last Airbender started in 2003, I didn't actually watch it until 2012.

TIL that is where this comes from. I just assumed it was a meme that came about from someone saying it in a video or something. ROFL

Anything I crossed out in this list is stuff I didn't watch as a kid and/or when it first aired, and most of what remains is stuff I watched as it aired. I think the only ones I caught later are American Dad, Family Guy, and Futurama. Futurama is very recent though, like only within the last month, and I have to say it is actually very good. I tend to only have it on in the background though so I need to actually take time to watch them with my full attention to fully appreciate the show. Tongue

As for superhero movies, I was actually thinking about this recently and wanting to share what ones I watched as a kid, so thanks for bringing it up in your post so I can feed off of it for my own input. Grin
Here's the ones I recall watching:
  • Superman: The Animated Series
  • The New Batman Adventures
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003)
  • Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
I think that's all of them. Might've watched a Spiderman one too, but I can't remember and no images of the various series jogged my memory. Also, in my travels of finding what Batman series I watched I came across The Batman/Tarzan Adventure Hour, which might be one of the weirdest crossovers involving a superhero I've ever heard of. XD

Any in particular you would go out of your way to be up in time for? Tongue

RE: Cartoon Shows on TV - Mr EliteL - Jul 23rd, 2022

I am shocked and appalled I did not include TMNT stuff in my list, especially since I've started to watch videos about them recently. Not actual episodes though....yet.

But out of them I have seen the 1987 series and 2003 series but nothing much else, not including movies. If I did then Turtles Forever and the 2007 film.
Would like to watch the 2003 series again actually.
