Gaming in 2024 Megathread - Moonface - Jan 1st, 2025

2024 is almost at an end, and as is tradition here is our Gaming in 2024 Megathread to serve for talking about anything such as:
  • Your personal favourite games that released in 2024.
  • Games you spent a lot of time with this year regardless of release year.
  • Games you discovered this year regardless of release year.
  • Any game of the year lists/winners from whatever outlets do them.
  • Anything else reflecting on this year in gaming in general, whether it be how the overall year was, a particular thing that happened, etc. I figure since the first two points are reflections of the year overall that this point can be included here rather than making a separate thread for it.
I'll also be using this first post as a general collection of notable things for easy searching, such as links to various GotY lists and whatnot.

Platform Round-Ups

RE: Gaming in 2024 Megathread - Moonface - Jan 18th, 2025

So I kept forgetting to do it and went to go do my platform round-ups, only to find the PlayStation one is no longer available, I apparently didn't play any Nintendo games this year, so that just leaves my Steam round-up as the only one with any data to share: My Steam Replay
  • 11 Games Played (7 New, 8 Demos)
  • 150 Achievements Unlocked (9 Games, 21 Rare Achievements)
  • 83% of games played with keyboard and mouse
  • 17% of games played with controller
  • Top Three Games:
    1. The Binding of Isaac: Repentance (48% of playtime, 349 sessions played)
    2. Grounded (14% of playtime, 38 sessions played)
    3. Stardew Valley (12% of playtime, 55 sessions played)

Not surprised by my top three, and I expect it'll be similar for this year except Slay The Spire will absolutely end up in second place for 2025 if I keep playing it as much as I have been. Tongue

RE: Gaming in 2024 Megathread - Mr EliteL - Jan 21st, 2025

Ah frick I forgot to do my PlayStation round-up or my Switch too. They should have kept the PS round-up to the end of January not the middle of it. Don't know if my Switch is available then. I would've liked to have seen how much I played T8, Unicorn Overlord and Dragon's Dogma 2 compared to Genshin, I knew the latter would be like 70-80% of playtime but oh well.
Doubt I have a Steam one of note as I didn't play anything on there at all last year.

RE: Gaming in 2024 Megathread - Moonface - Mar 25th, 2025

So, after making a comeback today, Game Informer has put out their (Belated) Top 10 Games Of 2024 Awards article. ROFL

Some solid games in there, with the only one I know nothing about being #6 because I've never even heard of it before. Nice to see Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown get in the list after that studio got disbanded by Ubisoft even though the game was incredibly good. I loved that game and if not for Astro Bot would definitely be one of the choices I'd have for my personal favourite game of last year.
