Nodusfall - Dragon Lord - Aug 25th, 2026

EXCUSE ME, DEVELOPED BY WHO!?!?

RE: Nodusfall - ShiraNoMai - Aug 25th, 2026

NGL, I cracked the fuck up at the dev/pub reveal. To their credit, they sure made a hell of an effort to not typecast themselves for this piece of software. Definitely has big Nightreign(Elden Ring) setting and design vibes going for it. Certainly fooled me LOL

RE: Nodusfall - Dragon Lord - Aug 28th, 2026

I was completely flabbergasted by the review of the developer. If you showed me the first 20 seconds of that trailer and told me to guess the developer, I'd probably list almost every other developer in existence before I would even think to name Hoyoverse. But hey, I'm glad to see that they're taking all that money they get from Genshin/Star Rail/Zenless and using it to put out something that looks absolutely amazing like this game does. A lot of people dismiss Hoyo because they create Gacha games, but they are actually pretty good developers over all and while the game play of Genshin has definitely shown its age the last couple of years, Zenless Zone Zero showed a lot of improvement in combat and animation quality, so I'm expecting a lot from this game.

The only thing that bums me out about this announcement is that it does sound like it's still going to be a live service game. There won't be any gacha mechanics, but it sounds like they are going to have monetization for cosmetics and the like. It would have been nice just to see them make a "pay to own" game like what Shift Up did with Stellar Blade.

But as long as the gameplay is amazing (and it looks very promising here), then I can live with it being live service (at least that means we should expect many years of new monsters/missions). Obviously we'll need to wait for more details to see exactly what this game is going to be pushing, but I have to wonder if it's going to have character creation or if there'll just be pre-made characters that have their own classes that you can choose from when you go into a mission.

One thing I know for sure from this though: After seeing that Hoyo is capable of making games that look this amazing, I really want to see them throw their hat in the ring and pump out a massive, single-player Souls-like game. Ya'll can't hide any more Hoyo, you've shown us what you are capable of now and we're going to be expecting a lot. I want to see you guys pump out something that goes along with some of the other amazing Chinese developed games we've seen the last few years like Black Myth Wukong, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers and the upcoming (and absolutely amazing looking) titles of Phantom Blade Zero and Tides of Annihilation.

Quite pleased they're finally going into another direction to show what they can do. Hopefully this won't turn out to be a disappointment, but it's a good start from what was shown in the trailer. Feels like such a mixture of Elden Ring, Monster Hunter and Dragon's Dogma to me. Saw some gameplay of a fight against some bosses too as I searched just now. I would like character creation but think the four characters shown aren't going to be and are already pre-made. Unless one of them who's meant to be the main character is. Ah further looking on YouTube, there will be character creation, alright then.

Apparently this is the PC requirements:

OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
CPU: Intel 12th Gen / AMD Ryzen 5 5600 or equivalent
RAM: 16GB
GPU: RTX 4060 / AMD RX 7600 XT or equivalent
Storage: 100GB

I was a bit worried upon seeing this, but then I remembered that the 3080 is significantly better than a 4060 in performance and I will be okay to run the game, haha.

But yeah, pretty hyped to see what Hoyo cooks up here. They are good devs, they just play too safe with games like Genshin and refuse to expand the systems of the game too much. I hope this game is their "we're going to go all-out, not play it safe and really show what we're capable of" game. Obviously they're not perfect, but Hoyo has shown many times that they are very capable and are good at making games

Surprised there is going to be character creation though, but I'm all for it. If this game is fully playable and you have access to everything and the only monetization in it is cosmetics, I'd be super happy. I'm 100% down to throw some money at cool skins and shit if the game is good enough and everything in the game is accessible and beatable without spending.
