RE: Universal Chat Thread - lp0 on fire - Jun 30th, 2018

So today was the last day for US Toys R Us.

I guess we all (Americans) are grown up now. Sad

"From bikes to trains to video games, its the biggest toy store there is (ghee wiz), I don't want to grow up 'cause baby if I did I couldn't be a Toys R Us kid"

Awww, man. That honestly makes me sad.

Never been to a Toys R Us store (nor Radioshack, for that matter) but they were so iconic, it's a huge loss.

Oh and it turns out one of the murders of Toys R Us Bain Capital also killed K.B.(Kay Bee depending on when your childhood was) Toys too.

Murderous Bastards of Childhood fun and dreams.

That is surprising considering how much of a juggernaut Toys R Us was.

Radioshack honestly was seen miles away, when it was good it was a specialty hobby shop for electronics then when they tried to appeal to the mainstream everything went to shit. Radioshack was a victim to the internet and was used more as a "I can't wait 2 days to get this transistor from amazon".

Microcenter although maybe one of the last electronic/computer stores I (hope) don't think will suffer the same fate as at lease in my experience they hire people knowledgeable about computers and their parts so even people who know what they are doing but might have a question can go in and get help and leave with what they want the same day.

@PM: You'd be surprised by the sheer amount of large brands that don't make it to Argentina.

Thanks, France.

You didn't think I was an American, did ya? Tongue

Most people think I'm Canadian, though Tongue

Hard to say whether that will be on the company or not since the fault could lie just as much with the worker. If everything was stacked fine and it fell only because of the floor, then it'll be on the store for having a floor hazard.
After the incident, I helped my section leader get the crates back into how they were stacked, as she was there when it was done. By how it was, it shouldn't have fallen over unless making contact with something else, whether a body of something or the floor. I was expecting the card boxes were going to be underneath a crate, but they weren't, which is usually the cause of them falling over by poor stacking. I've had to fix someone else's poor job before. Those two stack properly though. Won't be surprised if nothing's done about the incident, even after looking at evidence. Is a hard one though, like you said.

Toys R Us going was something of many people's childhood, so yeah that going is a loss. I do understand why though.

So, what interesting weather we have today:

It is very cold and dark.

There's slight but constant rain.

There's no-one in the streets.

And there's a massive layer of fog, only broken by the few, powerful streetlamps.

This honestly feels like Silent Hill Tongue!

Yep, and what is worse is that Michigan in winter is really cold and either dry and/or tons of snow (depending on what area of Michigan)

Hell there are days were it will go from tons of snow to AAAAHHHHHH HOT and snow is all gone in less then 24 hours.

At least you don't live the Buenos Aires winters... they are like the biggest teases ever. It looks like it is going to snow, and every single metric out there says it should... yet you only get annoying rain and occasional cross-wind. There's only been two snowy days in Buenos Aires in all of its history, and i was lucky enough to live one of those.

All of it was gone within the next day.

Our Summers are the worst. It gets to the point where moving is inadvisable. Grrr.

I like storms, I really really like storms, like if I wasn't shit at math I could easily of seen my self majoring in Meteorology.

My area is the biggest tease, I'd be watching the radar of storms coming (and/or building up) to my area. Just watching them get closer and closer seeing/hearing reports of the rain and thunder and wind and tornado watches and shit.

Then right before it gets to my area the storm splits so that its to the north and south of me and nothing for me.

I don't suppose jumping into a car and doing some storm-chasing is on the cards for you, my friend?

I'll admit being intrigued by the idea of doing that myself... there's something to be admired about performing such an action, while disregarding most traffic laws because screw it, there's a storm Tongue

I love watching documentaries and the like on the subject.
