The Movie Thread | Minecraft Movie Trailer - Moonface - Dec 7th, 2019

Figured this would be a neat way to talk about various upcoming or released movies for any that people don't feel needs its own thread. If a particular movie gets a lot of traction in here, I may split the posts out into a new thread dedicated to that movie or movie series. If any of those posts contain more than just that one movie, I'll duplicate the posts so that way I don't break apart any other discussions also taking place. ^_^

With that said, anyone seen the new James Bond trailer?

Can't say it makes me excited about the new movie at all. It comes off as being a bit too edgy and gritty but without the twisted villain like what Skyfall had. Almost every scene just has Bond scowling like he's got a stick up his arse about something, but not in a way that makes me curious or caring as to what his deal is. I'll probably see what critics generally think of it before deciding if I'll go see it in theatres.

Idk, the last 007 movie I gave two craps about was the one with Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. xD Apparently there's a new Ghostbusters movie releasing next year; Ghostbusters: Afterlife which doesn't have a trailer as of yet.

It does now. Tongue

As for James Bond, I've had mixed feelings with the new ones. Casino Royale and Skyfall were fine, but I didn't like Quantum of Solace and I don't know what Spectre is like to have an opinion on it. The older Bonds are enjoyable, but the cheesy stuff could get a little much at times. Same as the newer ones can get too serious sometimes. When there's a good balance of fun gadgets and people being serious but not stone faced about it, then I find the new Bond stuff shines with good from both sides.

I have no idea why every image of this in existence is blurry, but to give this thread a bump the design for the Tune Squad jersey was shown a few days ago for that Space Jam sequel with Lebron James:

I like it, I'd rather see something a little different than just reusing the original design. I just really hope the movie is good. >.<

Not really been paying much attention to the movie world this year, apart from Sonic and a little of Scoob thanks to the topics on them. Know of Dolittle, forgot about the Space Jam sequel. Kinda disappointed in that design too but for the orange/red Looney Tune circle logo being too dominant over the vest and shorts. The film needs to be good though. Doesn't have to be at the level as the original because that's too high for me already, so I don't have that kind of hope at the moment.

I'm not really looking forward to any current movies coming out but I do like movies and don't mind talking about them any chance I get.

Do you have any favourite movies @"WrestleRacer91"? Same question applies to anyone else who wants to answer this. Smile

Yeah. My favorite movie of all-time for the longest I can remember is Jurassic Park. Such a great film from start to finish.

Other than that, I really enjoy the 1989 Batman movie and for the series, it has to be considered my favorite. Other than that, I enjoy A Nightmare on Elm Street films (1984-1994), National Treasure 1 and 2 and the Herbie the Love Bug films.

RE: The Movie Thread - Moonface - Oct 30th, 2020

The first Jurassic Park is definitely the best one. The second was okay and everything after that was just whatever. I heard that Fallen Kingdom was really bad but it's the only one I haven't seen to make a personal comment on it.

I....was really interested in this until I watched that trailer. Can we fuck off with the human element please? I don't care for some stupid kid that Kong has a bond with or the stupid humans being all "Urh hur we're gonna die if we don't stop this" and "We must be missing something" bullshit. Just have Kong and Godzilla fight for an hour and a half and just let them eviscerate whatever dipshit humans are in the way of it all. I bet most of the movie is going to be small moments of fighting and mostly dull human stuff until the end when the actual fight finally happens and doesn't get cut short by whatever stupid things are going to get in the way of the earlier confrontations.

RE: The Movie Thread - ShiraNoMai - Jan 29th, 2021

Ehh, to be fair, the originals also had human elements to them. Not in the same vein, sure, but in order for the movie to even be remotely comprehensible (you can't have "just fighting" for a full movie's length, that will get boring after a while), you need something to drag you along for the basic movie structure of "freytag's pyramid":

I'm sure the movie will be popcorn worthy at best, but probably nothing to write home about. If it's got monsters fighting, I can look past some of the dramatic hooks they'll try to pull (unless it drags too hard, then nothing can save that LOL )

RE: The Movie Thread - Moonface - Jan 29th, 2021

I guess it would be better to be like Pacific Rim then, where the humans have to put a plan together to fight the enemy but you don't see some twat sitting at a desk wondering "I wonder why these monsters want to kill us?". Who cares?! They're trying to kill you, what do you expect Kong or some Kong-bonding equivalent child but blessed with dino-bonding to just connect to Godzilla and use Naruto's book of talk-no-jutsu on him? Start the movie with Godzilla wrecking shop, the humans try to fight back, and realise it's futile and then bring in Kong. It might be that anyway but the trailer makes it look like Godzilla isn't really engaged without Kong somewhat present.

RE: The Movie Thread - Mr EliteL - Jan 31st, 2021

I'd be hyped if the last two movies with Godzilla in this MonsterVerse series weren't really lacking in actual sightings of the monsters and them fighting. I haven't watched either fully, but have watched shortened versions of actual scenes with them in. 2014 film, 10 minutes of Godzilla out of 2 hours, wtf?! With the MUTOs and their sighting it goes up to maybe 20 mins which includes fighting Godzilla, but doesn't include the times of when the monsters are present but we're seeing the destruction and human reaction/awareness. I get the film was to begin/introduce Godzilla himself but geez that's barely any time at all. King of Monsters was a little better but I would not want to sit through the entirety of that film either.

I did watch Kong: Skull Island which I thought was better in monster sighting and human management, but that was only thanks to it being a group of humans and not a city. Also I didn't mind Hiddleston's character.

So I have little hope for Godzilla vs Kong but I'll keep an eye out for the aftermath of others watching. XD

RE: The Movie Thread - Moonface - Mar 4th, 2021

The first images for Space Jam 2 have come out today:

I'm trying to work out if the Looney Tunes are having a single art style that's aiming more at realistic textures, or switching between that and a more classic style depending on what realm they're in. I really wanted to try and compare Bugs and Lola but Lola is in motion so it blurs her which might be hiding the detail that Bugs has, or she could just be smoother like Tweety is in another image.

It doesn't look bad either way though; I think how good this is will come down to whether they tone anything down too much.

RE: The Movie Thread - Mr EliteL - Mar 9th, 2021

The image before is too blurred but these shots make the attire look a bit better, but don't think I'll be bothered too much over it now. Am looking forward to New Legacy more now, I'll go in thinking the original won't be surpassed but to enjoy what I see...I hope. XD
