Hiya! I just registered and noticed that the "hide your email from public view" or something along those lines - forgot exactly - option is unchecked by default.

Can this please be checked by default? I can't think of any situation in the modern day for a gaming forum where leaving your registration email public is a good, or safe, idea. There will probably be a member registering that may not notice this option and leave it the way it is, meaning their emails would be shown to everyone by default, and I honestly doubt majority of people would feel comfortable with that.

perhaps a change in avatar filesize limit?

when signing up for this forum, the avatar rules state the following:

The maximum file size for avatars is 50 KB.

i think this is perhaps in error? while i have no issue with the 500x500 size, i'd say a vast majority of images that size are going to be bigger than 50kb. is there a possibility of increasing the filesize to match the dimensions? would anywhere around 400kb be fairer?

I tried using the Awards page as instructed to change out my cards to Metroid, Dragon Quest (shiny), and Chrono Trigger but for some reason no matter what I've tried nothing has worked. I tried numbering them. I tried to uncheck the ones I don't want, and still nothing.

Since @Dragon Lord mentioned it in the "What Browser Do You Use?" thread and this is something I myself was encountering months ago and thought was resolved, I'm just making this to ask if anyone else has at any point encountered one of these errors and if so, what thread was it in? I don't think the thread actually plays a role but I'm curious nonetheless. I'm not sure what changed and at what point for this to start becoming an issue but I believe it may be on our hosts end so I've reached out to them about it to see if they can help resolve this. The most I know right now is some form of false positive is being flagged for security reasons but I do not know what is being done that triggers the security systems to block the post submission due to mistaking it as a threat.

If anyone has a post they are trying to make elsewhere and it won't take it in that thread, you are welcome to make the post in this thread and just leave a note in that post for what thread it should be in, and I'll move it to the appropriate thread for you as a workaround for the time being. It's not ideal but it at least lets people reply to threads rather than being locked out.

In the experiences I had with the error, I found that sometimes my post would be accepted if I removed a certain thing from it like a quotation mark or some other random thing, or if I was pasting text I did it as plain text, but for all I know it could just be that stuff I was doing didn't actually make a difference and my post was just conveniently accepted at the same time as me doing that stuff.

A Name Change & A Few Changes

My fellow gamers I was sitting here and staring at my xbox live profile looking at all my l33tness! and I realized we are like the elitiest of all the gamers and I tihnk we should have a name change to reflect this! I was thinking of something like, Elite Gamers Forums....yeahhh that has a nice ring to it! We don't play any filthy casual game like Pokemon, any Mario games all casual and kiddie! and definitely animal crossing can you imagine anything more FILTHY CASUAL?!

I also think we should ban all casual nintendo and Playstation players as any game on those consoles are definitely casual (even if they exist on the xbox!) because the Xbox is the gaming console of the elite and everyone here definitely owns it and only plays games like Call of Duty, Halo, and Tetris! I also suggest we start holding weekly Tetris competitions and the winner get Moony title as Head Admin as only the elitest of us should run the EGF (I just thought of that and it such a beautiful shorthand isn't it? <3 )

All talk about anime and JRPG should also be banned only the elitest of elite are allowed and weebs definitely aren't allowed on our Elite Gamer Forum.

Replace "Sex" With Pronouns?

Had the thought that instead of shifting from "sex" to "gender", why not just skip all that personal info to begin with and get straight to what to refer to the other as, regardless of gender?

Can do the basics:

She/Her
He/Him
They/Them
It/Its

Then maybe implement them as a checklist, in case someone wants to be a "he/they" or something. Oh and maybe add things like "Any" or "Ask Me". Neos can be asked to be added in this thread or something possibly?

The big box in the main profile that contains your username and avatar I think would be a good place for users to add their own cover photo.

Game Night: Nintendo Online?

It's safe to say a good bunch of us own Nintendo's latest console, the Nintendo Switch, right?

What games do you all have (that are multiplayer)? Talking about things like Smash, Mario Kart, Splatoon, etc. I wanna see what we all have and see if we can organize a Game Night around it.

Just post below what y'all have and we'll go from there.

Also if you don't happen to have Nintendo Switch Online (the paid service required to play online), I have codes for a week trial for the service you can use for the event.

Hello friends I just wanted to do a quick poll just to see how many of you would be interested in having a game night of Minecraft? It might not actually be at night and it might not be just a one day of week thing.

I was talking with Moony and Nikki and Nikki mentioned about maybe playing Minecraft for game night and I like the idea myself, but I'm curious if we got ourselves a minecraft relam or server would you be interested in having a regular game night to play or chill on whenever you feel like it?

I hate to be THAT GUY. But, your team of 3 workaholic's & 0 moderator for the night shift or day shift, isn't really cutting it. I've seen more ads on here then on tch by comparison. You guys/gals should hire on someone who can eradicate the spam while your away at work, with family, etc. I know the group of admins & mods are rl friends; but maybe you should expand your horizons & ask for help. You clearly need someone to mod, maybe run ads for here, or maybe even add twitch streams with members who stream that are willing to advertise to UG. But you guys can't bring in new blood alone, you kinda need some help.
