What're your thoughts on it, Dead?

I've got a few pals that have made the trek already, one frequents yearly now, and I've been trying to cobble together a plan like this for a hot minute.

Maybe one year, I'm not sure when though. I know someone who's fluent in both English & Japanese so my hubby & I would go whenever they would just to visit so many places. I would love to see all the places featured in Ghibli movies. XD

Maybe: I do admire the place, but it's not somewhere where I could envision myself fitting in.

I suspect I'd spend most of my time exploring the railway network in and around Tokyo! (And maybe riding the Shinkansen bullet train Tongue )

Probably yes, used to be an absolute yes. I've kinda lost the enthusiasm of the idea of visiting Japan, I'm sure if I did go it would work out fine, but man the planning stages and the thought of being embarrassed of just being there, ehh. Tourists kinda get a bad rep, yes I would follow rules to the T, but I'd be too self conscious. OK, being a bit negative on myself, gotta think positive! I'm at least on the side of yes anyway even if just about.

I'd definitely visit, although I have over time become aware that there are apparently areas in Japan that are very anti-tourist to the point they won't even allow non-Japanese into their stores. I think I'd want to try and visit areas that are lesser frequented by tourists too because I'm sure it's like the museum that hosts the Mona Lisa; everyone flocks to that painting yet it isn't even remotely the best thing in its respective room, just because it's such a tourist attraction. Japan comes off as one of those countries that suffers from that sort of thing a lot because of how much certain areas are used in so much media, just like Times Square in NYC is just okay but is the thing people visiting NYC would go to.
