If the price of a Portal is still higher at Gamestop than other outlets, my first thought was maybe it's because they don't have other areas to offset the cost onto unlike Wal-Mart, Target and Best Buy which could make up the money from a wide variety of other products, similar to how they have other loss leaders designed to get people in the door with the hope/intent they'll buy other items that have a positive profit margin. Those outlets might also just want to try and get through the stock quicker because they have more of it or want to have the space for other stuff, similar to how Costco recently had Kirby Air Riders and Pokémon Legends Z-A on sale for $30 because they wanted to clear the inventory, despite it probably costing them more than that to buy the stock in the first place.

PlayStation Blog: QSSR Upscaling Coming to Base PS5 Consoles
I would have used the title PlayStation used for that article, but when I saw it I immediately thought of the dogshit that is DLSS 5 and this isn't really like that. It'd be nice if Sony could find a way to have this work automatically without having to be implemented by the developer, just so that it could be applied to older games that would benefit way more from this than stuff that just released. Especially for games from that era of PS3 where everything had that weird blurry bloom look to it.

Yeah, hopefully it'll be better than the DLSS 5 I've seen floating about on YouTube, one in particular was a Tekken 3 video which just ended up aging characters, not like grey hair obviously but giving them darker and deeper shading or whatever, looked so bad.

Oh jeez, I haven't seen or heard of that one. That garbage already sucks with games that aren't even a year old and have high graphical fidelity; I can't even imagine what horrors it could potentially generate when applied to a 5th gen console game.
From the examples given on the PS Blog post, it seems to just make images/details sharper. I'll have to remember to go look at examples of PSSR (the PS5 Pro version of this that has been out for a while now) to see what that does and how it handles it, since it'll have been applied to a lot more games than just the two QSSR currently supports.
