I have this Windows handheld, had it since the initial release, it's been amazing for playing PC games in handheld mode. A little lighter than the Steam Deck and quite a bit more powerful, so I definitely don't regret my decision of getting it. Anyone else have this, or a similar Windows gaming handheld?

Ohhh this is the ASUS iteration of the Steam Deck/Switch, right? I've heard good things about it. How much do those things go for? I just got a 512GB LED Steam Deck for @ Moonface for Christmas at 25% off MSRP, so it wasn't a big hit to the wallet.
What games have you tried on it so far?

I don't have one for the reason already given above, but I also have never really seen much reason to take interest in other handheld gaming devices over the Steam Deck, partly because beyond the initial announcements I never really see anything about them after to even know how they are performance wise or anything.
From what you wrote it sounds like it has advantages over the Deck, but I'm curious if that comes at the cost of anything else such as battery life and whatnot.

I've never heard of ROG Ally before, but I haven't really delved into the world of PC handheld gaming before, only knew of Steam Deck and assumed there'll be others but just not looked myself. Did look it up and seems pretty good, just not really in my needs for now, after spending quite a bit on a phone to play some games on already, as well as a gaming laptop in the last couple or so years.

I was curious if it featured the ability to dock like the Switch and Steam Deck do and it turns out this does it too. Although I don't know any of the other various handhelds out there now I would assume if they lack that feature they're probably dead in the water against the rest of the competition.

I had been mildly interested in the system, though seeing as now days it seems you can only buy them from re-sellers who want $650+ for them, I'd just rather go with an OLED Steam Deck instead for the same price.

At that price anyone who would still want a ROG Ally may as well just buy the $650 version of it which is still in stock on the official website. At least you'd be getting a better deal for your money.

Oh, I didn't notice they had that version in stock still. I think for me personally, I'd still go with the OLED 1TB Steamdeck for the same price. While 120 refresh rate is really nice, I'm okay with settling for 90hz in exchange for the much better picture quality of an OLED screen over LCD. Plus I can't imagine I'd play many games on a handheld that I'd want 120+ FPS in, because if I was going to play that type of game, I'd just sit at my PC at do it there.
Steam Deck seems like it'd be perfect for more comfy games though. Turn-based RPGs, Visual Novels/story heavy games, Minecraft (for those who play it), etc.. I guess in the end it would really just come down to do you want that extra 30 FPS or better picture/colors. You could also spring for the $800 Rog Ally X, haha.

I have a Steam Deck myself, and although it isn't the OLED version it is very nice for games that are good pick-up-and-play games where you can play for a short while or a long while. Plus at least you can know what games are Deck verified, whereas for the ROG Ally (or any other handheld console really) I don't know if there's any way to know if a game will run well on it or not without just trying it or having to check system requirements like with PC games, which while not a big deal for the latter I do like the convenience of Steam just telling me if a game works or not on the Deck.
