I know a store where I could buy FE: Engage for about $30 if I wanted it, but I have heard that the story is so bad so I'm just like eh. lol

- Pikmin 3 Deluxe
- Metroid Dread

- WarioWare: Get it Together!
- Nintendo Switch Sports
- Super Mario Odyssey
- Splatoon 2
- Super Mario Maker 2
- Mario Strikers: Battle League
Some are old so I get it with those, but I'm surprised that Odyssey is on the list and I'm really surprised FE: Engage is on there given it only came out a year ago.
I saw some speculation it may be these games are all getting reprinted with something stating they work on both the Switch and its successor, and others mentioned Nintendo Selects could be a reason for the removal of all these games. But maybe it's also nothing and just Nintendo no longer wanting to produce copies of these games, although I doubt every retailer has run out of copies of all of these games at the same time.
Oh, that's unfortunate about no physical copies of XC2 being available now. I never got around to buying a copy and if I can't get a physical copy at all, then I likely just won't bother with the series. Well, my copy of XC DE that's just been sitting here collecting dust for however long is probably a good indication that the chances of me actually getting around to the series was already very small, but not being able to get a physical copy of XC2 would definitely be several nails in the coffin.
I was also waiting for Link's Awakening to go on sale for a decent price. Guess that might be never now.

@ Dragon Lord: You'd maybe get lucky with a pre-owned copy but if Gamestop's pre-owned version of XC2 is any indication, they might not end up being much cheaper than brand new or digital. For reference, Gamestop is listing XC2 pre-owned physical at $54.99 while a digital copy is $59.99. If copies of that game (and the rest) are no longer being produced I doubt it'll be long before pre-owned copies start going up in price; I recall that @ ShiraNoMai paid something like $80+ for XC1 because copies of it became so rare due to its limited print run.

Yeah not only was it inflated in price, I had to drive over an hour away to a Gamestop that had it in stock. This was in 2012, mind you, the year it released.
I'd be curious to check out local stores to see if they do carry the physical stock and just are not allowed to advertise as such on their websites anymore.

Out at meijer. It's a retail store, and usually I find games there physically, but I have to jump on getting them before they run out of copies.

Never heard of them before so checked out their website. I tried searching for some of the games in the list I shared and got no results, including FE: Engage. Going by this and adding to what @ ShiraNoMai questioned, my guess is any copies available in-store to buy at any outlet are just what remains of that locations stock, and so online listings won't appear because the majority of stores no longer have the stock.

I guess it isn't really a surprise for how successful this thing is, but the Switch now holds the record for the longest lifespan of a Nintendo home console before a successor was launched. The record was previously held by the NES, which lasted 2,686 days before the SNES launched.
In order of days, here's how long each Nintendo console had on the market globally before the next Nintendo home console was released:
- Nintendo Switch - 2,687 days (currently ongoing until the Switch successor releases)
- NES - 2,686 days
- Wii - 2,191 days
- SNES - 2,041 days
- Nintendo 64 - 1,909 days
- GameCube - 1,892 days
- Wii U - 1,566 days
However, the Switch doesn't come close to the number of days the Game Boy was on the market before the launch of the Game Boy Advance, coming in with a whopping 4,352 days.
I'm surprised the Wii was so far behind the number of days the NES has, considering how big of a success it was for Nintendo. Also this list makes me want to take the time to calculate the number of days for every console between releases to see where everything sits across each generation. Maybe I'll do it this weekend or something.

Considering we have next to nothing for the successor when the rest would've had an announcement by now, looks like the Switch could reach 3,000 days and make the record stand for a long time, bar handhelds. That said most of them had a handheld running alongside them too so time would be sort of shared in a way. I thought Wii would have at least more days too than just beating out SNES.

I doubt the Switch will hit 3000 days because that would mean the successor console wouldn't come out until June 25, 2025 at the earliest, and I suspect Nintendo will officially reveal that console before the end of this year and I don't see them doing that and then waiting 9+ months to release it.
