What's a "Moral Compass Cricket Thingy"?

Well, I had an N64, not a Playstation. By the time I got my PS2, no one was really selling PS1 games anymore, so I never really ran across it outside of a one-off, maybe. I want to say I've managed to play the demo of it? It's been a long time since I've dealt with that.

If it's true that Mario Kart is really the only kart racer without a story mode or anything like that, then I guess I'm just unlucky. That's a bit of a shame, in that case, because it's definitely soured my taste. And I know lots of people LOVE the Mario Kart series, and I've got a newfound appreciation for it thanks to speedrunners, but I just can't play a game for the sake of playing the game, especially when, historically, I never had anyone to play with (I'm the only gamer in my household, and friend visits weren't common, tbh).
