Stephanie Sterling has a video about how, because Zelda fans didn't like their discourse on Tears of the Kingdom, they mass flagged the video for age inappropriate content. When Sterling appealed the decision, they stood by it because of "content in the video", and their citation was the GODDAMN CREATION OF MAN PAINTING FROM THE VATICAN! When Sterling rightly pointed out the exact content that was in it, and asked them what it was, THEN Youtube reversed the decision (without apologizing).

Youtube is notorious for being absolute shits. My video on the Data Squad game? If I ever got enough attention to make ads, I can't monetize that video. Because I used Ryuusei at the end, and that's copyrighted, despite the fact I don't play the full song, and narrate over it. But no, that's not a good enough excuse for the Content ID gods (which are the corporations). If there was a better site, I'd use it. Especially because not only do I still intend on doing that Dragon Age Origins video (I SWEAR TO GOD, I'M WORKING ON IT!), I have another video that I want to do that continues the TF bullshit in the logical progression: into video games. The problem? I don't know how far I can go, because Youtube is completely inconsistent about its rulings, and it's a pornographic text game. "Why is that a problem? Just age gate it and blur out any pictures!" Yeah, no, I've seen videos get TAKEN DOWN for less. I can also search for Corruption of Champions on goddamn Youtube, and GET RESULTS! PICK ONE, YOUTUBE!

Someone I watch on YouTube has to constantly deal with YouTube randomly de-monetizing their older content because of changes to their policies that didn't exist at the time. All of their Sniper Elite videos got hit for using the word Hitler in them, despite the fact Hitler literally shows up in the game! They had to censor the term whenever it was said in game and even cover the subtitles to stop YouTube from complaining.

Their current L.A. Noire series has also had to change because suddenly YouTube has taken issue with murder scenes being in colour, but has no problem with any of the gameplay shootouts that also feature blood and whatnot.

I feel like making YouTube content that doesn't break a rule is like playing a constant game of whack a mole.

This specifically has notoriously been a problem for the World War II channel, despite them explicitly being a history channel. They are one of the best documentaries on the subject ever created, and they are constantly screwed and stymied by Youtube being absolute idiots.

I think I've heard about that channel before having issues with certain terms being oddly unaccepted by YouTube. Did that channel ever get that issue dealt with or are they still getting screwed by YouTube's stupid policies on that stuff?

They are still very much getting screwed by Youtube. So much of the time, they have to self-censor the show just because of Youtube, and then they still don't get to enjoy monetization. It sucks!

I wouldn't be shocked if half the policies they come up with are just random people pushing ideas to try and get recognized in the company, considering that same thing happens with their product ideas that go out and die quick deaths even if they're not terrible.

Happy I took today off. Had a long busy weekend (for birthday and anniversary celebrations) and needed a day to recover more and take care of some house chores. Had like a month's worth of laundry that needed doing

Ugh, I hate when something that used to work perfectly on my computer just decides to shit the bed for no reason x amount of time later when nothing was changed. I've just had to spend two hours almost trying to find anything that could be behind PhotoShop running so poorly it was tanking my entire computer yet it was fine when I used it last week.

I could honestly just scream and cry right now with how shit the last two weeks have been for me with college projects. I've been on campus for four hours now and no matter what I try I can't get the thing I'm trying to do to come out properly and today is my only chance to do it. Then during all that I get an email from my other class that I need to bring things in tomorrow that a week ago we were told weren't needed and that I therefore don't have in my possession, so that's just the icing on the cake for me today...

Welp, my laptop finally up and kicked the bucket. That's mildly annoying, given what I used it for, but not mission critical for me, so it'll be a while until it gets replaced. Well, that and the fact that I CANNOT afford a major purchase right now.
