Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds

Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed being the only Sonic racer I've played in the past, I wasn't interested in the following game that made it purely Sonic characters, and this one looked to do the same. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the Sonic universe and it's characters, the other Sonic racers were the Rider games and I wasn't interested in them either. However I did adore Transformed, being basically close to or being on par with my favourite Racer games, Mario Kart Double Dash and Mario Kart Wii, and on par with Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled that I would get after Transformed.

I was mildly interested from the reveal trailer some months ago (1st video), then Summer Game Fest trailer came out, and admittedly I wasn't into the game straight away. However with Miku, Ichiban and Joker were going to be added in, it opened up the cross over/Sega All-Star aspect again. What's more is a Minecraft pack as DLC too, and that there will be more packs to be revealed as well. Not only that, it was recently revealed 10 more characters are also set alongside Miku, Ichiban and Joker so these may be the Sega characters, with the Season Pass packs being more third party oriented.



As far as I am aware, these three are new to the Sonic (Sega All-Stars) line up, or at least racing wise, so will there be any others from their series, other new all-stars from Sega or could there be some of the old All-Stars to re-join the race? I'd imagine Super Monkey Ball will get a rep, hoping Golden Axe gets a character rep or track since Adder's Lair was my favourite track from Transformed, along with Race of Ages. NiGHTS is another possibility.

Unfortunately there have been some leaks I got myself exposed to, though I didn't check the full details if they are or are not DLC packs, only the title of series/franchise, but I assume they are DLC packs, which leaves one I'm not sure of that wasn't mentioned. Darn it, also darn me looking about on YouTube posts/comments.

Spongebob, TMNT, Avatar, Fortnite *groan*

I can accept Spongebob and Avatar, as long as it's the bending series kind and not blue alien kind.

TMNT I'm happily all for, and expect up to 4 characters for them as each turtle should be a priority but if not and it's three, then a mix of two of them along with Splinter, April and Shredder each having a shot at being a playable racer. If it's more than 4 though, my mouth will drop, though my initial guess is being 3 characters per DLC pack like Minecraft is.

Fortnite I don't give a flip about.

Oh look, Joker. What a shock. No, but seriously, I was wondering why, and then I remembered Sega owns Atlus, and it all made sense. Yakuza is also a Sega game series, so that makes sense. It's Hatsune Miku that confuses the hell outta me, though. Based on my searches, Miku is a character owned by Yahama, so the connection to Sega is confusing me.

Oh look, leaks. What a shock. Don't really care about them, tbh. The Spongebob one sounds like a really stupid idea, imo.

I don't get how Fortnite can have a lot of inclusion when it doesn't exactly have a cast of characters people know it by.
The only bright side to it maybe is giving this game more attention from that crowd which maybe helps its sales but I don't see that happening.

It's Hatsune Miku that confuses the hell outta me, though. Based on my searches, Miku is a character owned by Yahama, so the connection to Sega is confusing me.

SEGA produces the Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA series of games which features her license and subsequently many of the other Crypton Vocaloids, so I think that's the connection here

The Minecraft segment was probably the most left-field part of the announcement in the trailer at SGF. I actually thought it was a different game being shown at that point

Yes, the Project Diva games I was aware of being connected to Sega so I wasn't completely surprised by her inclusion.

I was honestly put off with Minecraft at first, but was uplifted by the other potential DLC packs, until I found the leak YT comments about them. So now being aware another series (Fortnite) likely being a part of the game, I can accept Minecraft over that any day.

I did watch some gameplay that released by other people, there's plenty of it out there including of the closed network test but I've only watched one. There'll be rivals that the player faces, they seem to always be up the pack to contend with you. Initially I thought rivals would be set to characters, but they appear to be somewhat random as I saw Cream be both Omega and Knuckles' rival.
Also that there will be car customisation that will effect the vehicle performance overall. Flips/tricks in the air are madder that they were before, quicker animation so many can be done in succession, kinda looks ridiculous.

I didn't watch this yet, but a new trailer dropped during the Kid's Choice Awards and if nothing else, the thumbnail is nightmare fuel...
