I absolutely despite the cookies thing. Browsers have always had the option to disable cookies and should've been enough, and if anything I'd rather the rule had been that whenever you open a browser for the first time post rule implementation, it opens a page showing you the setting so you can choose whether to turn it off or not. At least then it wouldn't have to be something you see every time you visit a website for the first time. Now if it were up to me I wouldn't have any such rule period; it's not like cookies are a bad thing.

So, if you haven't heard, Discord is now going to require age verification across all territories, not just the ones that are enforcing it. This is going to require sending them pictures of your ID to do so. Discord claims in the press release that they will delete the information as soon as the verification goes through, but this is a bold-faced lie, just from knowing how these companies operate. They're going to have to keep records in case any government comes knocking on their door asking them to prove that they've been complying. So, enjoy getting your identity stolen when these databases inevitably get hacked! I, for one, will simply accept having a restricted account. Not like I was doing any ERP anyway... So Discord has come out and said they're delaying the age verification rollout until the second half of the year following the response that initial announcement got. I don't really have any thoughts on it right now but wanted to at least share this.

Yeah, after the Persona Leak, they pretty much had to try and save face (heh) given the number of people that are dropping off the platform like flies. If you somehow don't know, Persona is one of the verification vendors Discord was "experimenting" with in the UK, and they had a massive database leak because the idiots left their servers on the open internet for just anyone to access! This proved that Persona was legitimately setting up a gigantic surveillance network with their face ID images by sending them to governments, and using them to track key information about you. Reality needs better writers, man; if you tried to pull this shit in a story, people would call you out for being ridiculous!
