Ah, I don't know how I didn't catch that when I have all the lyrics for the song memorized. ROFL
Also I was curious if there was anything behind "Anyway, here's Wonderwall" and it's apparently just a meme because of how easy the song is to play on a guitar so any Tom, Dick, or Harry will tend to learn that when they want to show off with a guitar but don't really have any interest in music. On a side note, I saw a comment claiming that if you can play Wonderwall, you can play Boulevard of Broken Dreams without needing to do any extra work. Shrug

The Memory Remains - Metallica

Woke up with this song in my head for some reason, but mostly just the "la, da, da, da" part. LOL

I remember this was the first version I heard of this song when I played WipEout 2097 as a kid, and when I heard the normal version that has lyrics years later I found it really weird and don't like it as a result. Makes me wonder if I'd have been more receptive to it had I heard that version first. Tongue

Sounds like what happened for people with Fever For the Flava on the NFS Hot Pursuit 2 soundtrack. If you've never heard of the song, I don't blame you, but to put it mildly, I don't think a song has ever been more explicitly about sex than Fever For the Flava. The original lyrics are actually so raunchy that they rewrote the entire track for Hot Pursuit 2, and some people prefer that version over the original. I prefer the original, though; it is VERY funny with how raunchy the lyrics are. Also, "I got the green glow under my car" is SUCH an early-2000's era boast, it's so funny.

Vitriolic A Stroke (aka Metallic Stroke) -- Motoi Sakuraba

Been in a Baten Kaitos mood for a few days, now. No idea why, just have been. GodDAMN does the music go so hard in this game. This is the main boss fight music (there is another song for certain bosses, but that's not important right now), and it is so awesome!

I wish more WipEout games used really long songs like this one. I think the third game is the only one to have 10+ minute long songs in the entire franchise and I love all of them so that's why I wish there was more. Nooo

Listened to them while on my work break. Would've listened to more but it was the last ten minutes when I decided to turn on music with my headphones on.

Smooth Criminal - Alien Ant Farm

A little story to go with this; so this came up in my shuffle on my drive home except I noticed something was off about it. Turned out that AAF had re-recorded the album this song was on, but for some reason Spotify was opting to replace the original version I had liked ages ago with another re-recording of the song that was released/uploaded at the same time as the album, and that version it picked is also at double speed. I never noticed a tempo difference with the song though; what caught my attention was the lead singer sounds completely different in it. Unsure

Satch Boogie (live from Guitar Center) -- Joe Satriani

I listened to this particular live version because it was the first that came up in my search lol. So, Satch Boogie, long time bane of guitarists everywhere, because Joe just RIPS for the entire goddamn song. Joe Satriani is one of those "Super-Virtuosos" that I think don't get nearly as much credit as they deserve for how they have just fully mastered their instrument. But, I also wanted to link the live version because I think it helps show off just how insane of a song it is he is playing.

So, the most famous part of the song is about 2 minutes in, when the straight 8th note (the rest of the song is in what's commonly called a "shuffle feel") "surf rock" section starts up. It's the one where he just shreds up and down a set of notes, constantly changing it. And what you don't know from the studio recording is that he's playing that on one string. He's ripping nearly 15 notes a second on that lone A string, and it's friggin' wild to see it. He makes it look easy, but tapping that out is way harder than it looks. Let me put it this way: Satch Boogie and Through the Fire and Flames are both available as DLC on Rocksmith. Halsb (originally a Guitar Hero player that moved to real guitar) has 100% hits on both of them, and he says Satch Boogie is harder. The studio recording alone does not give credit for how absolutely brutal that song is.

That specific section revolves around a novel music theory concept that it's not really taught formally, but it is interesting as a way of thinking about how chords and keys are linked to each other: Pitch Axis. The idea is that you take all sorts of chords that have the same root note, and these are all linked in such a way that you can switch through multiple keys while still staying on the same root note. It's fully known as "Pitch Axis Theory", but depending on who you ask, that's a slight misnomer (I am one of those people).
