I learned today that there is likely no cover for any of my coworkers shifts from Wednesday onwards, and if not it means there's nobody to build the sales display or work the deliveries. Normally I cover it, but I wasn't scheduled. I could bring it up, but I don't see why I should need to tell management how to handle the scheduling for the store.

My RCA capture card is dying a slow, horrible death based on how noisy the video signal is. It's really bad; I shouldn't have recorded 20+ hours of footage for another game on it. I'm too lazy to trash it, but it looks absolutely awful.

Yeah, and turns out they had a plan for the display being built that I only found out about this morning. I get to build it tomorrow while also working a 520 case delivery, and better yet the stuff for the display is in said delivery.

Hell no, it wasn't in one shot! I record in hour-ish increments, but I wasn't paying attention to the signal until now. The new one I got still has a little noise in the signal, but not nearly as bad; it might be an AV cable artifact that's not helping matters. I should switch up to direct HDMI -- there are conversion cables to let you directly hook an HDMI cable to the output.

Ah yes of course your store had a backup plan, get the other Frozen colleague to do it instead. Genius idea, no need to get any management on there or lend any help at all.

CBA with work tomorrow, but eh, just gotta get it over with. Did some removing of ivy building up on our wall today, which is next to other plantation with slight spikes. I got stuck in and have many scratches on my arms, yay.

So I found out something today about my key fob. See, I have a keyless ignition car, but it has a secret compartment to get a key. There are no locks on the door, and the "backup" ignition lock is underneath the dashboard panels, requiring a screwdriver to get at them. SO WHY IS THERE A FUCKING KEY?!

I hate keyless ignition, and there is a simple reason for that: I forget things. I don't want to have to worry about whether or not I forgot the key in the car again, and the only way I can do that with keyless ignition is to keep the key in my pocket at all times, even when my clothes are off! It's the only way I can keep track of it! At least with a keyed ignition, I have an action I have to do to physically grab the key so I am less likely to forget that.

You have no idea how pissed off I am that this exists. If it's fucking keyless ignition, it shouldn't have a fucking key! Period! And if it really is a backup, it should be fucking accessible without tools! But no, the backup is just holding the key fob to the damn button, hoping that it reads an emergency chip inside it. I want to smash this fucking thing, you have no idea!

Well, today I managed to take the term "therapy animal" literally by obtaining a stray kitten as I left therapy this morning. I thought a lady outside had lost something in the bushes, only for her to tell me she could hear a kitten in it and was trying to find it. I found it rather quickly and got it out of there, and being the only person present able to handle the matter right there and then I opted to take it home with me to determine what to do with it. We took it to the vet to be checked over, but they could only do a little bit because turns out it's only about four weeks old. Here's a photo of the little shit before I drove it home with me.

Oh my, the cat distribution system at work it seems. Although the system has malfunctioned and not realise you may already have a black cat already, errrrmm...??? Or perhaps it thought you needed another. *gasp*

That aside, so cute! I suppose you tried to check if it's parent cat was around, but to no avail so likely abandoned either by their parent, or owner if it had one, or genuinely lost. Take it you're keeping it separate from Mars because I'm wondering what his reaction could be.

Yeah there was nothing else around and it was crying to try and attract a parent to it, but then it comes down to how long would I have to just sit nearby and wait to see if anything comes along for it. Definitely not a cat that had an owner because my therapy isn't near any homes and it's far too young to have made the trip by itself.

For now we have to keep them separate because we can't vaccinate the young one yet due to its age, so in the event it could catch something from Mars they can't directly interact yet. I don't think Mars has anything anyway but even then, he's very spooked by it since learning it exists yesterday. Somehow on Thursday he was oblivious to it even though I walked into the house past him with it in my hands screaming because he just chose to not look up to see it lmao.

The only struggle right now is keeping the kitten quiet. We'll think it has what it wants only to then break out into crying again.

It can be really hard to bring in a new kitten off the street like that, between it being scared of its new surroundings and, as you're having to do, keeping it separated from any other cats you have in the house. Good on you for stepping up and taking it in though. I don't often see mother cats leave their young too far behind (not like animals like deer, who will leave their young hidden in a patch of grass while they go off searching for food or shelter), so there's a good chance that the poor thing probably lost its mother, or was abandoned by the mother or by someone who had taken it (sadly lots of cases of people taking kittens, only to then decide they don't want it and just leave it out on the street in a random place instead of being a decent person and bringing it to a shelter or finding someone to take it for them. God forbid someone inconvenience themselves to find a safe home for the poor animal).

As someone whose heart breaks every time I see a stray cat that I'm not able to help, it brings me a lot of joy to read that you were able to grab the little guy and will hopefully be able to give it a loving home and a long, happy life. If I had a big enough property plus enough money, I'd probably have like 50+ cats by now just because I want to give every cat I see the most amazing life I possibly can. Sadly in my current place in life, four cats is about as far as I can stretch it cost-wise (maybe I could squeeze in a fifth, but I think in terms of size of house to ratio of cats, four is probably as far as I can comfortably push it both in terms of finances of taking care of them and comfort for the cats themselves not making the home too crowded for them).
