I had a feeling this event started today but had forgot to check, but luckily a stream I'm watching made mention of it to remind me. The first conference starts in exactly one hour from the time of this post, and the rest are as posted above.

Any particular conferences anyone's planning to catch, or any games/announcements you're hoping to see?

I'm not expecting much from today's conferences but hopefully there's some good stuff in there. Given it's Geoff Keighley doing the first conference I won't be surprised to see something about Death Stranding 2 and I would expect the Elden Ring DLC to be brought up here if it comes up anywhere throughout this event at all. Any conference write-ups will be linked to in this post as they are made to make it easy to find them, as the smaller ones will probably be put into this thread rather than getting their own ones.

Weird that it's going to take Hoyo almost the entire year to simply port Stair Rail to PS5. Unless they are building it from the ground up for the PS5 port like they did with the Genshin PS5 port (where as the PS4 version is just a port of the mobile version).

Xbox Showcase had nothing of interest, as expected. P3 Remake and P5 Tactica were both "accidentally" leaked on Atlus' Instagram account days ago, and they'll be ported to more desirable platforms such as PS5, Steam and Switch anyways. Not really sure why Atlus even wastes hype on letting Xbox "reveal" these games, as the large majority of the audience for weeb games like Persona are on PlayStation and Nintendo. They'd be better off letting Nintendo reveal them.

Well, I guess if they did that, then Xbox wouldn't get to keep the title of 'King of announcing games that people are going to buy on other platforms'. KEKW

If I recall correctly I think Phil Spencer said Xbox and Atlus are working on building their relationship, and with Atlus already knowing their games will sell fine on PlayStation and Nintendo platforms they're probably trying to see if they can improve sales numbers on Xbox by marketing their games to anyone on that platform who can't get it on one of the others. I dunno how much success they'll find from it but it's a sensible thing to try at least if sales for Atlus games have kinda reached a plateau elsewhere.

Starfield Direct just finished. I wasn't paying a lot of attention to it but it looked good visually and had a lot of stuff. I'm not going to expect it to be free of issues at launch because I just don't think games of that scale are feasibly able to catch everything that could break when there's just so many combinations of variables to check, but I at least hope any issues are just minor bugs and nothing that outright ruins the game experience like what seems to happen with a lot of AAA titles nowadays, especially on PC.

I can't imagine it helps sales much seeing a vast majority of Xbox gamers frown upon "weeb shit" like Persona games.  Add on the fact that they also mainly play games via Gamepass and don't actually buy games any more. I guess it boils down to the fact that Microsoft is desperate enough to pay Atlus for the rights to... exclusively reveal the games...? I don't know, I just find it highly amusing that Nintendo and PlayStation are busy making good exclusive games and Xbox is busy paying to be able to exclusively reveal a trailer. They just make it way too easy to shit on them and I just can't let the opportunity pass me by.

For anyone who has interest in Persona 3 Reload, IGN just reported that Atlus will not be including any of the content from FES or Portable, including the female protagonist: https://www.ign.com/articles/persona-3-r...rotagonist

Calling it now that they'll just release another version of the game later down the line that adds the stuff back in just to milk sales.

As someone with practically zero knowledge about Persona, what?! Are you telling me the vanilla Persona 3 didn't have the (full) ending in it? Blink

NOPE! The Answer was intended to function as a settlement to an ambiguity and an epilogue to settle a few character's stories, especially Aigis. So yeah, they didn't have THE FULL ENDING in Vanilla P3, and by extension P3P.

I wouldn't put it past Atlus/SEGA to either make FES content or FeMC DLC for this, or as you and many others have said, end up releasing an 'enhanced' version of the remake later, a P3 version of Persona 5 Royal. Definitely something a company that's become as trashy as Atlus would do.

Nah, it's not that it lacks an ending. "The Answer" is just something they tacked onto FES as extra content (to get people to pay up for another copy of the game) to expand on the ending (some people complain that the ending of P3 is too hard to understand kek). Though it involves the worst character in the game and isn't even anything remotely good, so not including that content in the remake isn't a loss at all. None of the P3P content (FeMC, far better social links, far better music) does kind of suck though. Though as I mentioned above, wouldn't be surprised to see 'The Answer' released as a $20 (or more) DLC for the game.

I really wonder how Atlus didn't get nailed to the wall for their handling of P3, because regardless of whether the ending does or doesn't satisfy any individual person there's no way anyone would have known up front what to make of the "Answer" content apart from Atlus charging players for yet another version of the game for yet more added content. I know the game being in the PS2 era means there was no other way to deliver the content but it still seems like something that would have created a lot of upset, especially when each "update" came out more or less a year after the prior version. If nothing else I'm surprised it didn't affect sales of P4 because if I were a fan of the series there's no way I would have bought that game right away from expecting Atlus to pump out another version within a year or so.

Also, to no surprise, both Persona 3 Reload and Metaphor: ReFantazio have both been confirmed to also be coming to PS4 and PS5. I'd be curious though to see how many people stick with Xbox or PC solely for the ability to play the games via Game Pass and save the money they would have had to spend to buy the games as will be the case on PlayStation platforms.

I didn't end up watching any conferences after Xbox, mostly because I forgot, but I did get curious about the Rayman DLC for Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope since it got briefly shown during Ubisoft's show, and I've only got 6 seconds into the trailer before I just had to pause and question what the fuck is this lighting?

I'm convinced they forgot to enable the shaders when recording the scene for this trailer because nothing else looks like this, but it stood out so much to me I had to rewind the trailer just to double check the rest of it didn't look like that too. Blink
Putting that aside, Rayman looks pretty good model wise and seems to have the personality of his 3D era rather than the crazy Origins/Legends portrayal he had (not that I disliked it, but I just appreciate that he shows disdain for the Rabbids because they deserve it for doing what they did to my boy). I still need to finish Kingdom Battle though before I even consider picking up Sparks of Hope.

I heard the Star Wars Outlaws gameplay didn't look very good overall, which doesn't surprise me because it's Ubisoft. No idea how their Avatar game was perceived though.

I watched Summer Games and Xbox live, Capcom Showcase after it was live and didn't get around to watching any of the others, just wasn't interested in them enough. Skimmed through Capcom's as I could do so freely, only cared for Dragon's Dogma 2 there. SGF was the best out of them though.

Just saw the Rayman trailer, apparently he won't interact with/play alongside the Mario cast but only Rabbid Peach and Rabbid Mario (according to comments) which REALLY sucks if so. After I learned of Rayman I had a little hope to see if he could meet Mario and co, then I might've considered checking it out, but my own disdain for the Rabbids is too much. Why?! Though it is good to finally see Rayman back in some form and he does look good both visually and him not keen on the two Rabbids. XD

@Mr EliteL: Having it that Rayman can't be used alongside any actual Nintendo characters makes no sense, and just limits the choices players have for teams. I hope that that's not actually what happens but if so it's yet another example of Ubisoft dropping the ball where they really didn't have to.

I also forgot about this trailer I saw the other day that was part of IGN's Summer of Gaming (which I'm just going to put into this thread due to the amount of overlap it has with stuff shown for SGF), and I remember when this was just some silly little dick around concept that got put on Reddit a while ago but blew up enough to just turn it into a full game:

I dunno if I'd care to get the game myself at all but I still love the stupidity of the concept nonetheless. ROFL
