There was mostly nothing here for me, I watched this again like State of Play because these events like to happen on an evening I need to go to bed for work in the morning, so I was multi-tasking and stopped watching...can't remember when. Funnily enough I managed to miss the main game live that would've gotten a proper reaction out of me, and that was BEFORE I stopped watching. Once Sonic Racing Cross Worlds finished I looked away and did not witness Code Vein II's reveal, so saw it before I went to work earlier and only realised it happened after Sonic when I looked at this post, dang it. XD

I'll be honest, I saw Chrono Odyssey, and thought for a second that Chrono Trigger and Cross were getting a new game. Finding out it's just a random Korean Open-World MMO made me feel a lot of ennui about it.

Cool, Code Vein's getting a sequel. And Resident Evil 9 looks pretty interesting, though I am disappoint that we got no gameplay footage in that trailer given how close the release date is. I do wonder if its gonna be another FPS horror game given those cutscenes, or if we're getting a new third-person game?

Given the emphasis on Grace's character model/face I get the feeling it's gotta be third person. We never really saw Ethan's face in either RE7 or RE8 and even cutscenes remained in first person, and I don't see the vibe of a horror game being able to hold up if the perspective keeps swapping from first person gameplay to third person cutscenes.

For me, this show had the same issue I've had with it (and others) for a while, and that is how many games just start to blend into one another. For example, the anime games just all come off to me as treading the same tropes and tired cliches, and a lot don't really do anything to sell me on why someone should pick X game over Y game when they all appear to be showing and saying similar things. The worst offender has to be the ad for Mongil Star Dive; that game even down to the logo just gives massive "We have HoYoVerse at home" vibes to me with what it showed throughout the show. Errm
Actually, no the worst one should be to the dipshit of a CEO for Splitgate 2 who thought it was a good idea to shit on other developers whilst claiming that their game was unique only to reveal yet another battle royale shooter, and wearing a tone deaf "Make FPS Games Great Again" hat the entire time. Utterly idiotic move and evidence why PR positions exist.

Anyway, on to specific things that were shown:
  • I did not think Death Stranding 2 was due out so soon with how quiet the marketing for it feels compared to the first game, which in my memory was that Sony couldn't shut up about the first game at any opportunity they had. Just something I found interesting about that game, despite not having any interest in the game itself.
  • The DLC for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds was already funny to me when it started with Miku, but the Minecraft DLC was just unhinged. XD
  • Felt That Boxing is easily the standout game for me. The art style and idea was the most unique thing in the entire show and they've nailed the look for sure.
  • LEGO Voyagers looks cute and I'd be down to play that with @ShiraNoMai because it looks really chill but still fun and engaging. Reminds me of Phogs a little bit somehow.
  • I've never played a Jurassic Park sim game before, but knowing the dinosaurs can break free and fuck up your park is itself enough to make me consider grabbing Evolution 3. I just want to watch a park devolve into pure chaos. Tongue
  • Acts of Blood looks interesting, and if it turns out good I might pick it up. The trailer reminded me a lot of The Raid, which is a brilliant movie if you've never seen it.
  • ILL had a cool trailer and the camera work really amped up the horror factor. The kid being punted at the end of the trailer tickles the Dead Space 2 fan in me lol.
  • Capcom and their handling of Resident Evil was my highlights throughout the show. The voice actor for Lady Dimitrescu promoting the RE sale was good fun, and I was absolutely fooled by the RE9 fake out and thought it was genuinely coming at a later date. I'd have probably loved the trailer anyway, but thinking it wasn't coming made it strike a little harder for me.
Overall I didn't really dislike anything about how SGF was presented this year and it was a decent watch, but I don't think it had anything in the way of a huge "holy shit!" moment.

Ah, so you haven't heard about what happened to Splitgate, then. Yeah, see, he's up there with a shit-eating grin and that shirt because he's sitting on an Indie darling that blew up so big that they abandoned the game, AND PEOPLE WERE FINE WITH THAT!

See, Splitgate was a multiplayer deathmatch FPS whose big thing was that they stole the portals from Valve and you could warp around the map all you wanted. This was not a big studio-made game, but it blew up far bigger than the team had development or server power for, so they literally said "Shit, uh, we can't deal. We're gonna have to make a bigger, better version of this for you guys; stay tuned." And no joke, people REJOICED! Splitgate 2 is probably one of the most baffling dev cycles to ever happen in the game space, and I'm including shit like The Day Before. That's why he thinks he can go up there with that kind of shit; he's that confident that he's captured lightning in a bottle again.

Utterly idiotic move and evidence why PR positions exist.

I should've mentioned I was mildly interested in Sonic Racing Cross Worlds, though I was already bored by what was going on before it, but them actually having proper guests from other games and such now is a big plus for them. I didn't see the Season Pass until just now watching the trailer again, and after Minecraft there's 5 more to be revealed. So if they're going to be like the Minecraft portion of DLC there could be a few characters, tracks and such to represent that series, that's actually pretty cool. Unlike MKWorld has nothing for guests so far, a bunch of random enemies as playable characters as well costumes taking up so many slots. MK8D did alright but totally fumbled for F-Zero not including Captain Falcon as a playable character, but Cross Worlds looks to potentially better MK8D.

Ah, yeah I didn't know anything except the team aren't/weren't a AAA studio. I really don't get how you have a game blow up in popularity and decide that because your team/game lacks the resources to handle that blow up, the best course of action is to make a new game which would require more work than just....continuing with the game you already at least have out the door. Blink
That would be like Helldivers 2 just being instantly dropped in favor of a sequel because of how huge that game blew up, but instead that team did the actual smart thing a developer should do with an unexpected success.

@Mr EliteL: To extend on the point about MKW costumes, the only characters with costumes are mainline characters. Any of the new NPC racers the game added don't have any costumes at all.
