I was posting this in General Game Chat, but decided it would be better as its own topic when I ended with a question:

What I Originally Wrote:
Hard to believe that Minecraft turned 10 years old today. I figured its respective sub-reddit would have some decent stuff in celebration of it, and this one video stood out to me as the best tribute to the games lifespan:

There's probably a ton more they could have added in, like resource packs and mods, but it probably took a fair amount of time just to get this stuff compiled so I can understand the exclusions. ^_^

Since most of you probably don't care much for the Minecraft part, what other games are there that you can't believe how old they are?
I think what's crazier to me is games that released over 20 years ago now, and yet aside from visuals, can hold up pretty well as a playable game in today's environment. Like, Crash Team Racing is almost 20 years old, and yet it doesn't feel like I've stepped back in time in terms of gameplay like something such as Mario Kart 64, which for me doesn't hold up at all (I know that game has had many successful sequels, but sequels don't have to equate to making what came before it feel terrible).

I, the Philosophical Sponge of Marbles, send you on a quest for the Golden Chewing Gum of the Whoop-A-Ding-Dong Desert under the sea!

Also turning 10 years old this year is Batman: Arkham Asylum. Then, in two year's time, Batman: Arkham City will be a decade old. In the same year, we'll be marking Skyrim's 10th anniversary. Given how popular it remains today, and how well it holds up, that really surprises me :O .

And now, going in the opposite direction: I can't believe that Chris Sawyer's Locomotion was released only 15 years ago. The graphics look like they're from a much older game than that!

Basically any game that was released from 2013-2015. Anything really, even music and films when I see what date they were released, as it was during a time I wasn't doing much with my life. Did start working in '15, and that's when I think "That released when I started working?!" Or a game I haven't played/not played much and we're in '19 already.

For more of the reason of graphics, gameplay or style...haven't really got one yet. Might come up with a game or two later.

Counting the years since Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door though, 15 years?! Remember buying magazines and reading about the game, still have the cardboard cut outs of Paper Mario and Paper Bowser to commemorate, and the hype before the release.

Legend of Dragoon will be celebrating it's 20th anniversary this year (well, for it's Japanese release, anyway). Here's hoping they announce a remake for it this year! ...They probably won't, but a man can dream.

Everyone here's all on about the 5th, 6th and even 7th generation games, and then we got EL here talking about games from this generation ROFL

For me, it was hearing things like people getting into Super Smash Bros. Melee these days, a game that came out in 2001, placing in tournaments with people that have been playing longer than these people have been alive. That really just puts things into perspective for me. Just whole generations born within game generations, interacting with each other. Gasp

Honestly I'm more still in my I can't believe the Switch is three years old! Like to me it still really hasn't hit it stride because Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing, or Pokemon aren't really on it.

I'm sorry Link and Mario....but just because you are here doesn't mean the console has truly begun.

GTA: Vice City turns 20 this October. Which is crazy to think about to me.
