I guess maybe it has a special place in their hearts having been a big part of the SNES and N64 eras? Though then you could argue why aren't they trying this hard with F-Zero, but I guess if there's one thing in this world that we'll never be able to understand, it's how the big boys at Nintendo think.

Especially when F-Zero 99 proved to be highly popular and could be the more serious and high-speed racing game against Mario Kart's more casual and item based approach.

Nintendo Direct Announced for June 9
Nintendo have announced via the Nintendo Today app that there will be a Nintendo Direct tomorrow at 7am PT / 10am ET / 3pm GMT. The Direct will run for approximately 50 minutes, followed by a 90 minute long Nintendo Treehouse.

Damn was that only just announced today? Barely 24 hours or so before? Ah well at least it's a good time for my area instead of bed time or dinner time like the others were. Though a pointless Treehouse showing I won't watch after.

Yeah, I think it was maybe at most an hour or two before I posted it that the news was shared by Nintendo. Not that they would but at least it isn't like the Star Fox Direct that was announced like 15 minutes before it went live.

To speculate on what might/will be shown:

• Star Fox - Obvious because why wouldn't it be, but I don't think it'll be covered for long because unless they wanna spoil the prologue thing with Fox's dad there isn't much to show/reveal after what the Direct covered so I reckon it'll just be a trailer of some cutscenes and gameplay.
  
• Pokémon Winds/Waves - New Pokémon will definitely show up, maybe even the first evolutions of the starters. I'd like to see more of the gameplay and whether we're getting to go underwater or not.
  
• Danganronpa 2x2 - It was announced at a Nintendo Direct in September last year, and considering it hasn't appeared at any other showcase this summer then maybe it'll be showing up here.
  
• The Duskbloods - Notable for being a FromSoft game that'll be exclusive to Switch 2, and unless it gets delayed to 2027 I'd expect to see a release date reveal.
  
• Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave - Another game announced at the September 2025 Direct, and we've heard nothing of it since then.
  
• Splatoon Raiders - Releases in September, so it's definitely showing up to promote it some more.
  
• Ocarina of Time Remake - If Nintendo is doing a big announcement during this, I'm guessing it has to be this otherwise I haven't a clue what it could be. I'm hoping if this is real that it looks good because I've never fully played through OoT, although I can't remember how far into the game I actually got.

Switch ports of Heart Gold and Soul Silver. Prayge.

Okay, with my delusion out of the way, I definitely expect more on Winds/Waves, definitely another Star Fox trailer, maybe something new on the new Fire Emblem (which will look just as bad as the first trailer) and then maybe something for the LoZ anniversary. For Nintendo's sake, I hope it is an OoT Remake because so many people have convinced themselves that it's 100% happening that if it doesn't happen, they are going to blame Nintendo for them falling for rumors.

Of course we'll see a few trailers for games we already know about too, because gotta see a third or forth trailer for a game we've already seen all week just because "it's also coming to Switch 2 guys!!!"
