Heihachi will be available on September 30 for those with early access to DLC characters, with the full release being on October 3.

The new story chapter is called Forgotten Echoes, and will be a free update at an undisclosed date. From the footage in this trailer, so far confirmed character appearances are Eddy, Lidia, Heihachi, Reina, Jack-7 and Yoshimitsu. There is another character but I can't make out who it is (seen at 3:55 in the trailer).

Interesting comment from Heihachi towards Jin that I would have expected to be made towards Kazuya. I don't recall Jin ever dying in Tekken, unless we want to count the one time Heihachi shot him in the head at the end of Tekken 3 but Jin basically just no-sold that shit, rather than dying for a reasonable period of time like Kazuya did to be widely considered as deceased by both the wider in-game cast and the players.

Heihachi looking crazy now with stances and the scar that makes him glow, looks like a special power, as if he needed one as he already uses some Electric so it's mixed in with that. The other character I've seen an image of him standing next to Heihachi and is indeed or at least seems to be a new character.

Haven't bothered watching the Tekken Talk, although am just skimming through to see what else is coming in the next patch, 1.08. Battle Pass 3, new customisations options, select your favourite character in the main menu screen, so Kazuya can come back or whoever else the player would like. A costume can also be chosen but only the default ones. In the online Tekken Lounge some stuff can be customised like the cabinet layouts, and Online Practice between players will be finally available. Practice has some new features, remaining Health in numbers can be displayed, Special Style will get new additions, among other things.

Thaiger Uppercut will be the last TWT Master tournament before the Finals, TGU is Oct 4-6, possibly DLC 4th slot will be revealed then or at another event, but I think should be before the TWT Finals as it's in early December, the 4th DLC Character should be out in Q4/Winter so December will be about that time, unless it includes Winter into '25. Ah, we'll see.

Yeah I forgot to say in my previous post that it was interesting how Heihachi's scar glows at times now. I hope that there's a lore reason to it that comes up in the bonus chapter rather than it just happening because it looks cool.
Speaking of the bonus chapter, interesting how it happens during the main story which if that came up before I forgot about. I'm going to guess only characters who barely show up in the main story will be present so as to avoid trying to explain why Heihachi's return doesn't get brought up by anybody; Reina keeping it to herself I can understand and I won't be surprised if she's partly behind Heihachi coming back, although how he comes back is curious now because her devil powers can't play a part in it since they don't manifest until the end of the main story in a bonus cutscene.

I forgot that a Tekken Talk usually happens alongside these character reveals but I did see that choosing a character for the main menu was finally going to be added. I don't get why it has to be limited to the main costume only though and can't just use any of the pre-made outfits characters have?

Also, shout out to Heihachi's profile on the Tekken website that says his nationality is supposed to be Japan but the government doesn't want him to be associated with Japan at all so they just disowned him as a national.

I've seen on YouTube people already posting the damn story with Heihachi in already, frick them and their need for views. I've avoided it so far as I want to play it in-game, I still need to do Eddy's and Lidia's.

Oh I may have worded what I said about the main menu incorrectly, they do allow all 4 default costumes to choose from for each character. So if I want a T7 outfit to present I can, or the T8 alternate or the recolour.

Oh, the new story chapters are available already? I thought it wasn't coming out until the last character was released. With the way you worded it, I take it that the extra story is split up into parts per character rather than being a singular thing like the main story is?

I also assume King is gonna be the first character you put onto the main menu?

The story chapter isn't available in-game yet, just the players who got the chance to play early seem to be doing it. I only follow one of them who won't show his experience with it yet until he gets to play it again in-game, but there's others who just don't care. That or maybe they were allowed to because I came across one same video a few times and thought it might've been removed quickly, but not going out of my way to look for it again to check.

For the main menu, nope it won't be King, likely Lee, though if I play King a lot like I did before for online, I'll place him there.

Are you sure? From what I can find looking online the Unforgotten Echoes DLC is a singular thing rather than being released in pieces. IGN have a write-up on it and they say it has 8 chapters and that it starts off with catching up on Eddy, Lidia and Yoshimitsu before it gets into Heihachi's return, so it doesn't sound like Eddy or Lidia have story content that's out and separate to Unforgotten Echoes, it's all grouped together.

Interestingly, that means the fourth DLC character isn't going to be part of the bonus chapter so will they get their own one or are they just going to be left out of the story? If it's the latter it could mean there's a good chance for them to be a guest character because then there's no issue of trying to make them canon in the story if they just aren't shown in it.

Nah I'm not sure. I've not even touched the story section since Eddy's release so I don't know how the Echoes thing goes, I just assumed when they were advertising them being part of the T8 story, the first chapters following them were available alongside their release. Perhaps not and they really waited for it all to come out with Heihachi. I haven't had any motivation to play T8 recently, and when I did it just vanished instantly, still haven't tried Lidia like I said I would.

I can't even begin to think of who could be a guest character if that's what the fourth slot ends up being for. Doubtful it'll be anyone who was in T7 and also some of those picks were so wild it makes it hard to even figure out who would and wouldn't be possible to see.

I think it's lack of stuff in general. I usually just come home from work, CBA to do anything, watch YouTube, get my dailies done on Genshin/Wuthering then end up no time to get stuck into another game. I even got back into Unicorn Overlord briefly, then keep intending to play that but just don't.

That or back in T7 when it was on to it's 3rd DLC Season, Leroy was released and he was absolutely broken, then Fahkrumram was also broken both put me off playing. I remember playing a lot during Season 1 & 2 and very interested in watching others play too, but I rarely watch now unless it's a big tournament. Although what I am aware of Eddy and Lidia weren't game-changing, everybody playing them like they were and Heihachi now with all his new stuff, I might be waiting for their strong phase to die down/nerfs to anything that might be found broken.

I will be happy to help/discuss this more with you if you so wish but at the simplest level I think you should get checked out for whether you're suffering from a form of depression or something. I know at face value that term gets related to being sad, but even just not finding joy or energy to do things would be covered by it too.

Seems the recent Heihachi release has already delivered a bad look, although it's more of the tipping point rather than the sole point for the community being upset enough again to put Tekken 8's review score into Mostly Negative on Steam for a second time.
I saw part of it is due to kicking a player out of their tournament because they were from a region that isn't eligible to compete, yet this player participated in multiple rounds without anyone picking up on it earlier? Another is that Heihachi's stage isn't included and is being sold separately for $5, which I agree is horseshit. Then there's all the balance issues, monetization issues, etc. that were already a problem that were what already had people on edge to begin with.

I saw one developer trying to defend the stage shit by claiming it costs $350,000 to make a stage, which I find impossible to believe. How the fuck does a stage in a fighting game cost that much?!

You probably already saw this EL but in case you didn't the backlash to Heihachi's stage not being part of the season pass caused the developers to change their stance on it:

That stage definitely should've been free alongside Heihachi anyway so good this has happened so the next one will be free with the DLC character. 500 Tekken Coins for everyone to boot, it's just a nice little extra.

It was probably the games rating going down considerably on Steam again for a second time that caught their attention. Anyone who looks at the game will see the low rating and if it has a chance to turn people away from buying it then Bandai aren't going to ignore that, especially when they recently laid off a good chunk of staff at the company.
