Caught the Direct quite late and watched towards the end on Hbox's stream because of course he is hoping for a Smash Bros announcement of any kind. The RE part ended, and there was one more to go and frick I got hopeful too, especially when the stadium at the beginning of Fire Emblem happened.
Tried to go back and watch the rest but it's around the time my body wants to doze off while watching, trying to catch up on sleep. So I gave up, though I didn't let myself go rest.
The Mario Galaxy movie was the best part really, April next year not too bad. Will look forward to more approaching that date, who will play Rosalina. Did skip out a lot of games but I wasn't expecting a specific order, and don't I want too many more Mario films either.
Powerwash Simulator. K.
I wasn't expecting a sequel to Three Houses, not fully sure if I'm in interested or not, leaning to no. I still need to complete certain routes in TH.
Yoshi game looks alright I guess, neat art style.

Yeah, the Yoshi game needs to give me more to care about it. I like the art style, but it literally looks like you just go into a level and play around with some creature to discover stuff it can do like some interactive book for a toddler. Which is fine, I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but if that is the type of game it's like overall then I don't think it'd hold my interest for very long.
Overall, the Direct was rather weak and I think it didn't help that it opened strong with building an expectation of big things because of Mario's 40th anniversary, and that's such a big event that it overshadowed everything that followed it.
Virtual Boy is the most questionable thing of the entire Direct by far. I just don't know who was asking for that and the only reason that accessory is going to sell is for the novelty of owning one. Like, if I saw one on sale for dirt cheap I'd buy it just to display it but I sure as heck can't say I want to actually play any of those games with it. XD

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined was a surprise. Square Enix going hard on the Dragon Quest love the last few years. It is nice to see them push the series harder in the West. Obviously the series is a monstrosity in Japan, but never really was given a whole lot of love in the West until XI came out. Happy to see it though, definitely a game I'll pick up on either Steam or PS5.
New Fire Emblem game... meh. Fire Emblem has been on a steady decline since (in my opinion) Awakening. I was never able to get too much into Three Houses and Engage just completely lost me, I think I only got a couple of hours into that game before I dropped it and haven't touched it again. Doesn't help being a Switch 2 exclusive, and I'm certainly not overpaying for a Switch 2 just to play what looks like a very mediocre at best Fire Emblem game. Get back to me when Nintendo finally remakes/remasters FE9 and FE10.

Happy to see it though, definitely a game I'll pick up on either Steam or PS5. Makes me wonder if Toriyama's passing played a part in this or not, in the sense that SE wanted to pay homage to the older games he worked on (or some other reason related to his passing). Then again, SE were already seeing the success that remaking FF7 is having for them and maybe decided to expand on that into other games, especially if in DQ's case the remakes help to plug the gap while DQ12 is in development and their development cost is probably considerably lower than usual since the remakes aren't having to create a new game from scratch; they just have to recreate what already exists.
The new Fire Emblem game confused me a little only in the sense that it seems very focused on the arena fights and didn't show much, if anything, outside of that content. I don't know exactly how Fire Emblem games usually play but I had the impression there was some degree of exploration to them, whereas this new one (based on the trailer) looks like story stuff happens in VN style dialogue outside the arena and the core gameplay is strictly within the arena for fights. Whether that's good or not I don't know because I don't know how that actually compares to the typical Fire Emblem formula.
Hyrule Warriors having split screen is certainly a brave choice. I know the Switch 2 is more powerful than a Switch 1, but given the previous game had a lot of frame rate issues on Switch 1 I'll be surprised if the split screen mode for this new game doesn't end up causing that problem and being a ding against the game if it runs smoothly in single player.
Another big takeaway for me that I don't know how to feel about still is I felt there was a rather large amount of DLC pushing in this Direct from Nintendo than what they would usually do. Also for the ones we got to see footage for, nothing feels remotely worth the asking price. $20 for DK's DLC is a joke for what you actually get, and usually games that get additional content for Switch 2 have their upgrade packs priced at $20 so Wonder is probably going to be that, but considering it's multiplayer focused that means you also need to have NSO and it relies on a player base to find people to play with, which seems really risky to shell over that much money for to me.
