Rosy retrospection: a proposed psychological phenomenon of recalling the past more positively than it was actually experienced.
Anyone here ever do this with anything, even when you know better that it wasn't as positive as you think? I weirdly find myself doing this often with stuff like secondary school, yet I know that that time was full of utter garbage that I wouldn't want to experience again even if you paid me. I wonder if it's because in comparison to university shortly after it that secondary school is something I initially view better than it was because even the bad of that time pales to university, which makes the whole time get generalized as being decent.
I sometimes do it with my old job too, but that's usually because there's very little about my current grocery job that I think is better than my old one.

Another one that has crossed my mind a few times recently is how nowadays I view a 10am—7pm shift as just losing out on your whole day pretty much, but that was the exact shift I did four days a week back in England and I look back on that as being absolutely fine. So now I wonder if I'd feel the same way if I went back to that work schedule in England or if I'd hate it now.

I'd argue your life was dramatically different than it is now. How you spend your mornings, afternoons and evenings has all shifted around. Guaranteed if you went back to that in the lifestyle you lead now, you'd lose your mind. Definitely rose-colored view lmao
School is also my most rose-colored view on my past. I think just comparatively, life was rather simple back then, and being more blind to the world's nasty realities definitely makes it feel a whole lot nicer. Contextually speaking, probably just as "rough".
