Ooh this might make a return?

Yes! Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga is bolded as a game that works well for this. That'll likely be my number one pick.
Paper Mario TTYD and MKDD are available too which interest me.

Sonic Adventure 2, Super Mario World and Sudoku have been removed for whatever reason, however I'm really not bothered by them gone. I'd rather go for the games I have full confidence (actually I'd have full confidence in Sudoku but ehh). Paper Mario and Wario Land 4 could be potentials as well for me, though I won't anyway. Been too long since I played WL4, and as TTYD is available I just prefer that over Paper Mario.

I've altered my post--I've noticed the "full" list doesn't actually include a few of the actually official releases for some reason. SA2, SMW and Sudoku are both there--and just as an aside, Sudoku isn't actually a game to play, per se. It's really a game to play when you are waiting on other people for checks because it gets you hints for the games in the active multiworld. Choose Sudoku as well if you expect yourself to be stuck in your game for a while waiting on others (this is usually for people that play things with either sub-100 checks, or intentionally put an early required item in someone's shuffle). EDIT: I stand corrected, Sudoku is no longer an option, unsure why. There's other idle/short game experiences that offer a similar thing, but Sudoku itself seems to have gotten the axe. Shrug

As someone that's played the Paper Mario 64 archipelago, it being a shorter game than TTYD makes it a lot more viable an option for sync sessions (games that are played by all players at the same time). It utilizes a lot of the PM64 official randomizer settings, with a couple of exceptions (notably, no boss shuffle Sad ). I haven't checked too much into the TTYD one, but I imagine that one can be set to particular goals like, Trouble Board completion, Shadow Queen, or maybe just Pit/Bonetail.

I think that's the thing I want to emphasize the most here: everyone should actually look over all their potential games, narrow it to a list of 3, then read what the randomizer offers in terms of options/goal setting to see how viable it is for you to even do. You live and learn playing these archipelago games, of course, so don't fret too much on it, but it's genuinely a better idea to be more conservative and less evil for yourself because even if it's more evil for you to do, it also makes it more evil for others consequently lol (in that they can't proceed in their own games because you made something unreasonable on your end).

Alright! So here's the call to arms: I've made a Where2Meet for this upcoming month, starting with our dear admin's birthday, Sunday July 5th, until the last Saturday, July 25th. Go over the schedule, allot your times on your own schedule, and when all times are in, I'll pick a day/time and we can get this ball rolling!

I've decided I'm going to play Yoshi's Island; I haven't done it in a hot minute, and I miss it. It's a very fun rando.

If everyone could please fill out https://www.when2meet.com/?37216285-8ogrd this here schedule with your own availability for those dates (please note the timezone!), as well as finalize your picks for the session, we can absolutely have a kickass July of finally getting this going! Grin

I should note: we can decide whether or not we want to have this meeting be just the one where we all play together, and finish the seed on our own schedules, in the event it's really hard for us all to meet up more than once this coming month, or if we want to knock it out in one session. I will say, if we intend to do the latter, be prepared to dedicate at least 5-6 hours of straight gaming to it. Even with nice seeds, first timers will have a much bigger learning curve to understand A) what the randomizer expects you to follow and B ) recall the game they're playing overall.

I guess Wordipelago is one of the games that are the Sudoku equivalent?

I'll be playing M&L SS for sure this time, then if this is successful I'll try TTYD next time. As M&LSS is fully supported, a game I know well, should help myself to learn what is expected from this Archipelago group game.

Put in what I hope to be my schedule. Do want to play on my birthday, should be able to twice that day, to start up and then get going.

I will fill out my availability as soon as I can. Unfortunately my work schedule only goes out to July 4th right now and the next week probably won't come out until towards the end of the week of the 29th - 4th. I would love to be able to get at time where I can play when everyone else is and maybe have fun in a voice call while doing it, but sadly I am in one of those lovely jobs where I never have a set schedule and a lot of the times I'm working different shifts on different days, so I'm not sure how easy that will be. I know I usually have every other weekend off (I work the 4th, which means I'll be working the 5th too, but then will have the 11th and 12th off). The good news though is that I open on the weekends, so even though I do work on the 5th, I get off at 11 AM CST (12 PM EST/6 PM BST).

To make things easier for the first go around, I'll narrow it down to three games that I know like the back of my hand: Dark Souls Remastered, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. I'm not very good at doing any skips/glitches in ALttP though, so I'm definitely leaning harder into the other two (or maybe Dark Souls III instead of Dark Souls Remastered). Though I'm assuming since none of us are hardcore speedrunners, we're not going to be doing no logic randomizers, so I guess my lack of being able to bomb jump or hover doesn't really matter.

But yeah, I'll give it some more thought over the next week and pick out my final game. Hell, maybe I'll just leave it to a randomizer to pick it out for me if I can't make up my own mind, haha.
